With FPL finally deciding to call an end to GW17 last night our hopes of keeping Solanke’s 6pts and having them upgraded to 9pts (with bonus) were dashed. Instead we have to make do with Mubama’s 1-pointer off the bench. So now we have 63pts (-4pts) which has turned a small green arrow into a small red one, leaving us ranked 1,992nd.

All in all, it was a fairly decent week despite the red arrow. Our move for Solanke may not have turned out as planned but there are more important things in life. Our hit for a keeper paid off (we wouldn’t have had one otherwise) and whilst our captain blanked, there was very little competition to punish us.

Star man this week was Palmer with a 14-pointer. Watkins grabbing a goal and max bonus was nice and a 5 and 6 from Foden and Gordon respectively doesn’t set the world alight but we’ll take it thank you very much!

If we get positive news on Schar (currently yellow-flagged), we will likely roll our transfer. Should he be declared unavailable then we’re looking a little threadbare with Mubama the only player on our bench with a game. Not good.

With a Christmas party for yours truly (Rosco) to attend this afternoon and a looming GW18 deadline we’ve made the assumption we will have no news about the above. We have decided to make a move. Defensive cover felt necessary so we put it to the vote with Udogie to one of Porro or Konsa the options. Konsa won out as the (hopefully) safest route into a Villa defence that has Sheffield United at home this week. With our Wildcard still to play, we feel we can be a little more relaxed with our approach, immediate gains are our main priority and hopefully, the Villa defence will not let us down! U

Watkins takes the armband with our eye firmly on the sheer volume of goals they concede and the memory of that 23-pointer from earlier in the season. Will lightning strike twice? Probably not, but you can’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket!
