It’s not often you score over 100pts in a game week and end on a red arrow, but here we are.

With no chips in play, we were always up against it. We’ve already used our Triple Captain, it did us proud back in game week 2. We probably should have saved it. Captain Mo got us 58pts, sadly he got 87pts for a lot of other managers, Ouch.

The assistant manager was clearly the best play for our team, we didn’t play it. Those 22 David Moyes points would have been very much appreciated. Ouch again.

Elsewhere, we benched Munoz and his 11pts, even Robinson with 4pts (first on our bench) outscored 5 of our 11. When it rains.

With 5 FT’s we kind of felt we needed to make some moves. Our season doesn’t look like it will ever get any better, but that doesn’t mean we’re throwing in the towel. With blanks and doubles on the horizon, we need to start at least thinking about a rough plan.

So, first on the agenda is BGW29. As it stands, we would be missing 7 players, or in other words, we would have 6 starters. We could play our Free Hit, but we may end up needing that in GW34. Either way, we would like the flexibility to not feel forced into playing a chip.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to start planning for that, whilst attacking some favourable fixtures. It was put to the vote with most of the options revolving around Bournemouth. The Cherries have of course been in imperious form of late, throw in fixtures against Southampton (A) this week, Wolves (H) in GW26 and a decent fixture in BGW29 and it feels like the smart play.

We could have played it safe and maybe just made the one move, hell, even 2 would have probably done the job, but in the end, we decided to go all in and make 3. Kluivert and Kerkez to come in for Gordon and Trent, that’s 2 GW29 ‘blankers’ removed. Job done. But that would give us pots of cash, so we decided to also bring in Mbeumo who himself also has both favourable fixtures and a game in 29. Leaving our team is Adama who is let’s face it, a bit rubbish.

Well, that was the plan, then Trent got some minutes against Everton so that plan was shelved. Another vote was cast and we ended up just doing (the yellow flagged) Gordon to Kluivert (the expecting father – gulp), and rolling our other 4FTs. We’re nothing if not consistent (frugal).

We did put it to the vote on playing the Assistant Manager chip this week, however, it was a unanimous no. We’ll look to play that later in the season once there’s more clarity around the blanks and doubles.

So, there you go, our team looks a lot better, we’ve got a little more flex when it comes to GW29 and at least it feels like we’re doing something. Let’s see how it works out.
