Fantasy Premier League is often framed as a game of skill. You analyse stats, follow team news, track form, and try to stay one step ahead of your mini-league rivals.

Rotation hits. Cheap enablers do nothing. A surprise benching ruins your setup.

It is a reminder that even the most carefully planned strategies can unravel. Not because the thinking was wrong, but because football itself is unpredictable.

Free Hit and the Illusion of Control

Free Hit feels different. It gives you total control for one Gameweek, allowing you to attack fixtures aggressively.

And yet, it still carries risk.

You are essentially building a one-week squad, often chasing fixtures that look good on paper. But as every FPL manager knows, “good fixtures” do not always translate into points.

FPL would not be as popular as it is if everything went according to plan.

The swings, the bad beats, the unexpected hauls… that is what keeps managers engaged throughout the season.

Chips amplify that feeling. They raise the stakes, increase the tension, and occasionally deliver huge rewards.

Are they a gamble? Sometimes, yes.

But they are also part of what makes the game so addictive.
