Banterbury Leagues Round Up Gameweek 12

bant-leagueThe Banterbury H2H Leagues are now in their second season and were originally formed to give a few of us seasoned FF managers a real challenge, and what started of as one H2H league soon turned into 4 leagues, due to its popularity

Based on the English league format we now have a Premier League, Championship, League 1, & League 2 with promotion & relegation (3 up, 3 down) with a knockout Cup run every 5 gameweeks. I also added a new competition this year “The Banterbury Shield” (where the top 4 teams in each league at Christmas qualify for a 2nd half of the season Champions League type format).

At the start of this season I had so many managers wanting to enter the leagues that we had to open a Qualification League with the top 3 teams at the end of the season earning a invite into the H2H Leagues for the next season.

Premier

It was a nightmare game-week for the top 4, as they all suffered defeat. Bottom of the table  Killer Instincts pulled off the biggest shock by beating pace-setters Cookie’s Monsters 89-77, while defeats for Reubens Rioters, Where’s The Dosh? & Bocadillo Allstars have seen them all slip a couple of places to 4th, 5th& 6th. New boys to the Premier, Arsene’s Boys, move up to 2nd and reigning Champions, Park Bench Exports, now sit 3rd  and both have joined Cookie Monsters at the top, albeit with a much inferior goal difference. Eddy Hitler XI lose a tight game to Buzz’s Bomb Squad 55-54 but stay 7th and wins for Gasco’s athletic, Horse FC, I LOVES THE CAKE & Pork n Cheese United keep them all in the hunt for a Shield place come Christmas, At the bottom two of the leagues big guns are now in the drop zone – THE MUTTS NUTS hit the bottom as they lose again, their 10th defeat in 12 outings, but the bigger shock is to see last season 3rd place Kop Warriors fall into the relegation spots zone. Wins for Kojak’s Fireball & Buzz’s Bomb Squad see them move 4 points clear of the bottom 5, who if they are not careful could become involved in their own mini league for survival

Championship

The top spot in this League seems to change hands every week, This week elleffcee has the honour, with WhoIsRonaldo dropping to 4th after a 69-66 defeat to FC Tom Tomsk. James 101 falls out of a Shield place to 5th losing 85-69 to Buzzilona, Gallowgators move up to 2nd, while Real Morbid climbs  three places to 3rd after winning the derby in the Kirk household and leaving his dads team, Pathético Morbid, rock bottom. A win for Son of a Pitch sees them take 7th spot & will now see him eyeing a Shield place. Down at the bottom, The Gallant Pioneers lose again and drop back into trouble, Red Magic win but stay in the bottom 3, Mito’s Mercenaries lose 82-56 to Balotellibubbies, meaning they swap places and twitter maestro Mito is now sitting just one place above the drop,

League 1

Well what can we say about the Powerful Potty FC? Still breaking every Banterbury league record in the book with 11 wins & a draw from his 12 games, they are now  just one win from almost certainly being the first team guaranteed a spot in the Banterbury Shield in the New Year. We love Manchester remain in 2nd and in pursuit of Potty, while Monty (CazDaz) & CFC (Awesome)   swap places in 3rd & 4th. Bodene’s Army win again to stay 5th, wins also for Bradbury Park Avenue & DavesRedDevils see them move up to 6th & 7th. Elsewhere wins for Fergie’s Henchmen, Nosgoth, Slumdog Mignolet & Sporting Abeergut move them away from the danger zone. The five teams at the bottom all lost so there is no change, with poor Nifty’s Hotshots  in 19th losing 9 in a row & The Special One remain in perilous position having lost 10 out of their last 11.

League 2

Norfulk-in-chance made up for last week’s defeat to win this game-week and still holds top position, while  WhiteBoysDay lost to Wavey Squad & drop from 2nd to 5th with Wavey taking his place in 2nd. E For Idiot & CR win and they make up the top 4. Elsewhere, wins for Manlet FC & Denbow’s Degenerates move them to 6th & 7th. At the bottom, Prata manages to get off the foot for the first time this season and replacing him are destroyers, though all the bottom 5 are on 12 points so a few victories will see any of them climb into safety and away from relegation and the horror of losing their Banterbury Leagues status.

United and Liverpool defence is a right old mine field. Bargain players (Evans, Flanagan, Toure etc) – but who will play? I reckon they’re both teams with great CS material over next month and want coverage – but I also need to save cash. Currently got Vidic (how long can concussion last?) and Toure (due for a return or destined for the fringe?) Has anyone got any suggestions?

I wouldn’t touch any of those players. Definitely not Toure or Evans. Reckon only one nailed is Johnson and Evra

      NIN says:

Titleastic – Going by Vidic’s history i’d say he could be out for 3 months with concussion haha.I’ve recently shortlisted Evans, such a bargain at 5m and he can be good for the odd goal/assist too,if he starts against Spurs and comes through okay then i think he has to be given serious consideration,as for Flanagan,he’s another massive bargain but because he’s so young he could be left out at any given time for Cissokho, and definitely when Enrique returns, probably a bigger gamble than Evans for this reason.

      • Titleastic says:

Hm yes – Evans seems bargain player most likely to play, but as soon as Vidic is available he is surely destined for the bench. I just don’t know – I might swap Vidic for Skrtel and maybe hope to have 2 ‘pool defenders playing versus norwich week after next. And then re-asses

        • NIN says:

Titleastic – He’s found his form though, personally i feel he will be playing in the majority of games,Vidic&Ferdinand aren’t capable of playing a high volume of games so Jonny boy should see solid game time. That could be a sneaky double up,one thing i will say though..throughout December there are a heap of fixtures so FT’s become even more valuable/essential than usual,it’s a month that can make or break our seasons so just be aware of that and plan ahead, jostling Liverpool defenders in and out may not be the best strategy.

        • Titleastic says:

          True that

      i am???

i have rooney suarez & lukaku

what do you advice i do?

btw, im getting navas anyway (probably for ozil)

      • Titleastic says:

I personally would ditch roo-dog for the kun. Tough to do but am confident aguero and Suarez will top the strikers points list at end of season. Rooney’s good for 3rd striker if you’re prepared to sacrifice elsewhere in squad (which personally I ain’t)

      • NIN says:

        2bob – Ozil > Navas,huge no-no in my opinion.

        • NIN says:

Have to log off now but before i do i should really give my reasoning,Navas has been at City for the whole season and scored 40 points,as opposed to Ozil who came in in GW4 and has 53 points, pretty substantial difference, and to make matters worse,of the 40 points Navas has,he scored 19 of them last week..so,going into the last GW he had 21 points in 12 GW’s.. abysmal for a player who began at 9m.In fairness, even now at 8.1m he’s incredibly poor value for me,and there lies another alarming fact..9m starting value, now 8.1m,the sign of a player hugely under-performing,this is a hectic time of year and the last thing we should be doing is taking massive punts on really poor performers at the expense of a truly worldclass player like Ozil,if you need the cash then yes, selling Ozil is likely the way to go,but be sure to replace him with someone reliable, for me,Navas isn’t reliable, not even close. That’s a wrap, night folks and happy tinkering.

        • nighty night…
          zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

      • TheDreamers says:

        Billis – Navas not nailed….

      NIN says:

HL – Considering he’s been taken off early in City’s last two games,it really doesn’t bode well for Swansea this weekend,a fresh/sharp Kun will likely destroy them, captaincy gold this week i think..

    Hey guys!
    My team is:
    Mignolet Vorm
    Coleman Lovren Dawson Zabaleta Baker
    Ramsey Ozil R.Morrison Brady Oscar
    Lukaku Suarez Aguero
1 FT and 0.3 in the bank. The problems I think I’ve identified are:
    1) Wenger said he’ll rotate his squad for the next 3 GWs
    2) Baker is going to lose his place, since Luna is back from injury
    3) I don’t have any United coverage
    Thanks :hippo:

      1. That could be a problem anywhere you turn in particular on the bigger teams who have quality players on the bench.
      2. Let him rot on the bench, no need to waste a transfer on him for now, in particular with the tight fixture schedule, you might have a bigger problem arise.
      3. Many don’t. No mids worth having it would require I least two moves to bring in Rooney for Lukaku, probably dropping Ozil for Cabaye/ Sess. Best route could be to pick up a defender, possibly Evans for Dawson/ Lovren/Seamus for him. Saints have the toughest schedule, but I imagine that Lovren also has the most value built up.
      Hope that helps, good luck

You have a couple options, here’s a few I would suggest.

Lovren -> Mert or Glen Johnson

      Ozil -> Coutinho

Lovren needs to go, but I also really rate Coutinho to produce over these next 5 weeks.

      Albertini says:

I think Lovren will be fit but he’s still flagged, just be aware of that.
