Banterbury Leagues Round Up Gameweek 12

bant-leagueThe Banterbury H2H Leagues are now in their second season and were originally formed to give a few of us seasoned FF managers a real challenge, and what started of as one H2H league soon turned into 4 leagues, due to its popularity

Based on the English league format we now have a Premier League, Championship, League 1, & League 2 with promotion & relegation (3 up, 3 down) with a knockout Cup run every 5 gameweeks. I also added a new competition this year “The Banterbury Shield” (where the top 4 teams in each league at Christmas qualify for a 2nd half of the season Champions League type format).

At the start of this season I had so many managers wanting to enter the leagues that we had to open a Qualification League with the top 3 teams at the end of the season earning a invite into the H2H Leagues for the next season.

Premier

It was a nightmare game-week for the top 4, as they all suffered defeat. Bottom of the table  Killer Instincts pulled off the biggest shock by beating pace-setters Cookie’s Monsters 89-77, while defeats for Reubens Rioters, Where’s The Dosh? & Bocadillo Allstars have seen them all slip a couple of places to 4th, 5th& 6th. New boys to the Premier, Arsene’s Boys, move up to 2nd and reigning Champions, Park Bench Exports, now sit 3rd  and both have joined Cookie Monsters at the top, albeit with a much inferior goal difference. Eddy Hitler XI lose a tight game to Buzz’s Bomb Squad 55-54 but stay 7th and wins for Gasco’s athletic, Horse FC, I LOVES THE CAKE & Pork n Cheese United keep them all in the hunt for a Shield place come Christmas, At the bottom two of the leagues big guns are now in the drop zone – THE MUTTS NUTS hit the bottom as they lose again, their 10th defeat in 12 outings, but the bigger shock is to see last season 3rd place Kop Warriors fall into the relegation spots zone. Wins for Kojak’s Fireball & Buzz’s Bomb Squad see them move 4 points clear of the bottom 5, who if they are not careful could become involved in their own mini league for survival

Championship

The top spot in this League seems to change hands every week, This week elleffcee has the honour, with WhoIsRonaldo dropping to 4th after a 69-66 defeat to FC Tom Tomsk. James 101 falls out of a Shield place to 5th losing 85-69 to Buzzilona, Gallowgators move up to 2nd, while Real Morbid climbs  three places to 3rd after winning the derby in the Kirk household and leaving his dads team, Pathético Morbid, rock bottom. A win for Son of a Pitch sees them take 7th spot & will now see him eyeing a Shield place. Down at the bottom, The Gallant Pioneers lose again and drop back into trouble, Red Magic win but stay in the bottom 3, Mito’s Mercenaries lose 82-56 to Balotellibubbies, meaning they swap places and twitter maestro Mito is now sitting just one place above the drop,

League 1

Well what can we say about the Powerful Potty FC? Still breaking every Banterbury league record in the book with 11 wins & a draw from his 12 games, they are now  just one win from almost certainly being the first team guaranteed a spot in the Banterbury Shield in the New Year. We love Manchester remain in 2nd and in pursuit of Potty, while Monty (CazDaz) & CFC (Awesome)   swap places in 3rd & 4th. Bodene’s Army win again to stay 5th, wins also for Bradbury Park Avenue & DavesRedDevils see them move up to 6th & 7th. Elsewhere wins for Fergie’s Henchmen, Nosgoth, Slumdog Mignolet & Sporting Abeergut move them away from the danger zone. The five teams at the bottom all lost so there is no change, with poor Nifty’s Hotshots  in 19th losing 9 in a row & The Special One remain in perilous position having lost 10 out of their last 11.

League 2

Norfulk-in-chance made up for last week’s defeat to win this game-week and still holds top position, while  WhiteBoysDay lost to Wavey Squad & drop from 2nd to 5th with Wavey taking his place in 2nd. E For Idiot & CR win and they make up the top 4. Elsewhere, wins for Manlet FC & Denbow’s Degenerates move them to 6th & 7th. At the bottom, Prata manages to get off the foot for the first time this season and replacing him are destroyers, though all the bottom 5 are on 12 points so a few victories will see any of them climb into safety and away from relegation and the horror of losing their Banterbury Leagues status.

    Transfer Gossip :
    *** Jackson Martinez to Chelsea (probability – more than 90% ) !

    • 38.1
      • “The 27-year-old’s agent reportedly traveled to London today to thrash out the terms of a deal which will cost the Blues around £33million. ”

With Ba leaving the club, I’d say they ll sign him, asap /January…

90% – as I will only believe it when h puts his name on paper 😉

      Albertini says:

As a FCPorto fan I hope those 10% will prevail… he is a fantastic striker and it will be another blow for Porto if he goes away.
Everyone here knew already that something would have been arranged between FCP and Chelsea when Chelsea have bought for 5 or 6 M€ Christian Atsu, to be loaned to Holland right after, when he was about to reach the end of his contract and could sign for free but I thought the deal would include some agreement on Mangala, not Jackson.
We’ll see in a few weeks.

      • You should be used to the disappointment of watching top players leave. Unless you own part of the club, otherwise you are making a killing. Business wise, Porto has no equal!
Colombians view Porto as a club that has truly helped our football. They took chances on our guys when nobody else would.

        • Albertini says:

I am Mito, I am… It’s part of our strategy, to buy cheap and to sell a couple of years later for 5x more. This way we have been able to get some good results over the recent years but It’s my view everyday is getting more difficult to have a gelled team, with some much money around and so many clubs waving the best players with extraordinary contracts.
It’s true, we have some Colombian players (Jackson, Quintero, Quino) and we already had James Rodriguez and Falcao, both amazing players.

        • It has always been my thought, that I would not hire scouts, I hire spies. Whatever Porto is on the verge of signing, just go offer a bit more. They are bloody good at finding young players on the cusp of stardom on the cheap.

        • Albertini says:

We make some mistakes but you’re right, we are very good in finding cheap pearls!

Could someone RMT or recommend transfers?

    Myhill (Boruc)
    Terry, Vlaar, Fonte (Dawson, Ridgewell)
    Ramsey, Toure, Lallana, Brady (Britton)
    Suarez, Rooney, Aguero

    1 FT, 0.2M bank

I only get 5.0 from selling Fonte (bought at 4.6), do you think it is worth bringing in a short-term defender like Flanagan or Gabbidon based on fixtures or is Fonte a keeper? Also thinking of swapping Brady/Britton for Mutch or Ravel. Not a big fan of my midfield as it is, and will be difficult to get Chelsea coverage unless I swap Yaya next week.

I think your team will be fine this week my team is very much like yours and I would keep your ft for the tuesday deadline then have 2 ft and if your confident with the Yaya move to a Chelsea mid then go for it and make any other move you think you should do if necessary

Hi all! Great to see that you`ve set up a new site! laugh Looks very good guys, lots of good articles. Been missing that since ffc was closed down

    RITZ says:

Could need some help with my team if anyone got a few spare minutes!

    Mignolet
    Coleman, Shaw, Dawson
    Oscar, Ravel, Sessegnon, Barkley
    Aguero, Suarez, Lukaku

    Subs: Boruc, Brady, Davies, Turner
    Bank: 5,3 mill

Should I get Walcott for Barkley this week or next?
Should I use this weeks transfer for a defender instead?
Any other comments on this team?

    Appreciate any replies smile

      Shaw is still flagged.

      am4r77 says:

Instead of Walcott do Barkley to Ramsey cheap and is playing really well and he’s getting good points nearly every week

    • 41.3
      RITZ says:

Cheers guys, but i`m gonna get Walcott instead of Ramsey hence I want a differential + I think Walcott will outscore him when fit. Any tips of defenders at 5.0 or less with good fixtures?

      • am4r77 says:

What about Flanagan think he is starting now as Enrique is out and he’s 4.5 Liverpool’s fixtures are
        Hull city (A)
        Norwich (H)
        West ham (H)
        Tottenham (A)
        Cardiff (H)
        Man city (A)

      • Demel (FUL, CRY, LIV)
        Gabbidon/Moxley (NOR, WHU, CAR)
Vlaar/Baker (SUN, SOU, FUL) – watch out for Luna returning
        Flanagan as mentioned

      • RITZ says:

@am4r77, I think Flanagan is a great pick for those whos not already invested in Liverpool defense. But as iv got Migs I dont want to douple up on them.
