Banterbury Leagues Round-up Gameweek 20 FPL Fantasy Premier League

bant-leagueHello again from Banterbury HQ , I trust you all had a fab New Year. It’s been a busy time here at HQ with the continuation of the leagues, the 4th round of the Cup and the up and coming start of the Shield.

Banterbury Leagues

Premier
Cookie’s Monsters recorded his 16th win of the campaign, beating Where’s The Dosh? to stay top – The Dosh, who qualified for the Shield, has lost his last two and are 12pts behind Cookie now and have fallen to 6th place.  Arsene’s Boys & Bench also win to keep the pressure on Cookie and stay 2nd and 3rd respectively, while  Bocadillo Allstars win in the both Cup and the League and are 4th , holding a 5 point lead over 5th Pork n Cheese United. Reubens Rioters, Gasco’s athletic & Horse FC all move up a place to 7th, 8th & 9th dropping PUT THE OLD DOG DOWN to 10th & Eddy to 11th. Sitting 12th are Killer Instincts who were sitting bottom with just a point after 10 game-weeks – this should give Mutts some encouragement , though I hope it does not start for Mutts in the next game-week as we meet and could really dent my title hopes. Mutts lost again and has decided to activate his January wildcard – as a seasoned fantasy football veteran, i fully expect him to bounce back in the 2nd half of the season. Prutsers; allemaal sit 2nd bottom and are dropping like a lead balloon, having lost their last 4. TheKopKnightRISES move up a place to 18th after beating Kojak’s Fireball who drop to 17th, Kop Warriors & UD Stoke need to watch their backs as both are only a point above the dropzone.

Championship
Moving into the Championship and despite Gallow going for the treble, he slipped to defeat this game-week and drops to 2nd, with james101 taking over at the top. One Under Parr move 3rd and one of our other resident geordie’s, Shylass @ the finish move to 4th with his 4th straight win. Dropping to 5th are WhoIsRonaldo, while staying 6th & 7th are Son of a Pitch & elleffcee after both winning. In 8th is my top tip for the top 3 come the end of the season, namely Mito’s Mercenaries, who have now won 7 of their last 8 – though I was i little worried to hear he had no idea who Bob Paisley OBE was!! Down at the bottom where things are getting very tight, with bottom club Pathético Morbid and 13th placed Glebe Farm Rovers separated by just 5 points , after a big win for  Pathético Morbid over The Reds 17th and must feel they are now back in the dog fight for survival.

League 1
The Top 4 stay the same though they all swap places. CFC(Awesome) drop to 2nd with Monty (Caz Daz) hitting top spot – up to 3rd are Deano’s DavesRedDevils and dropping to 4th we have we love manchester . Powerful Potty Fc are 5th and have lost 8 in a row in a startling run of form – he now only sits 1 point above the chasing pack that includes  Ajax Trees, Fergie’s Henchmen & BRYAN MUNICH FC. The bottom 4 all stay the same despite 3 of the bottom 4 winning, and a massive shout-out to  Nifty’s Hotshots who had lost 16 on the trot – he recorded a much needed win over Fergie’s Henchmen but stays bottom.

League 2
4th Place Trophy remain top and are now 6 points above ChorleyRocks who move 2nd after beating previously 2nd place White Boys Day, who drop to 3rd. In 4th stay Norfulk-in-chance , but the battle is hotting up in mid-table, with 4th place and 13th place separated by just 3pts. Prata has risen from bottom to 9th. At the basement, destroyers & Bryan Munich remain the bottom two and are six points adrift of 18th, while a win for Wanderers1869 sees them close the gap with those above them. 15th to 18th are separated by just a single point.

    Ozil anyone ?

Evening Bench mate. Ozil is the obvious choice, but we’d be relying on Podolski to convert in the short term without Giroud. Ramsey out still means that Santi needs to step up to the plate. I wonder if he could be the punt of the season or whether the fantasy points will dry up for the Arsenal attack. For a couple of GWs until WC, Spurs might be worth thinking about fixture-wise, Eriksen is the obvious choice. If you don’t have Hazard or Oscar, then that’s again obvious. A brave man looking at Stoke’s fixtures might say that after this week, Assaidi is the biggest differential to come but he’s more of a replacement for a budget mid like Amalfitano than Walcott. With 2 or 3 weeks away from a WC, it’s between Silva and Ozil for me in that order for now for Walcott this GW mate.

Nice one Buzz and well done for making the Q/Fs in the Cup

Cheers Bench. A change in fortune has occurred. I’ve been very disconsolate and losing a lot of interest this season hence my posted missing from time to time – a lot of bad luck, even more bad captains choices, an unresponsive WC in GW5 and my abject failure to adapt to a changing fpl world cost me, but a few weeks of green arrows on the bounce and a WC pending in a couple of weeks has got my pecker up again – I might not do a top 5K this year or even my minileague at work, but the season is only halfway through so worth digging in and seeing what happens. If Walcott had still been 75% on Friday night, I’d have ditched Rooney before him this week…

Is Cazorla nailed now that Wally’s injured

      Josh721 says:

Cazorla plays on the left usually. He’s been a consistent starter for the past few games now. Not sure if I would go for him though. At 9.5m, he hasn’t done much to justify that price tag.

      • Anonymous123 says:

Do you think I should go with Santi, or go with a midfielder for 5.8 and keep funds for Aguero

    Josh721 says:

Nice writeup Bench! Really appreciate all the work you’ve put into these leagues. Now onto more serious topics… Walcott out for the rest of the season plus the World Cup?? Any ideas for a potential replacement? I have 9.5m to spend on a replacement for him so Ozil is out of the question. How about Lallana? And is there anything new on Rooney yet?

Okay, so I’ve just read the awful news, I have 1 FT, with 0 in the bank, who should I bring in? Walcott sells for 9.3m so I can’t afford Ozil or Cazorla… Gerrard? Rosicky!? Help please

      KungFuKingCantona says:

Remember us saying people where fools to sell him that early after the injury!!? 😛 Jokes on us now. Who could have for seen that though? For you Gerrard or Lallana if you can not afford to take a 4PH or use your WC yet.

      • jamesimmo says:

I know right! Still, they were crazy to sell him before this news was released, surely? Anyways the options I’m considering are:

        A Gerrard
        B Eriksen
        C Lallana
        D Wildcard

Looking at my team, which do you think is best?

        • KungFuKingCantona says:

I would go with Gerrard with 2 home games incoming before you have to WC. If he does not pay off you offload him, reshuffle your team and you might afford Ozil or Cazorla (if he rediscovers his form..I have him in my team for now). You do not need to WC as things look atm. I have not followed Mutch so I do not know the extent of his injury. Rooney should be fit as well for the week end unless something happens to him tomorrow!

        • jamesimmo says:

Thanks KungFu that’s a great help. I have Brunt to replace Mutch if he’s not injured, but if Rooney does look unlikely to start I could play a last minute WC, but for now hopefully not, thanks

        • KungFuKingCantona says:

No problem! And as you said down there. It is better to plan your WC so that you can straight swap Aguero when fit or just put him in if he already had a few minutes under his belt!
Btw if you could afford any midfielder for Wally who would you put in?
          Team up front is:
Cabaye, Hazard, Walcott, Cazorla (El Ahmadi)
          Rooney, Suarez, Lukaku
1FT and 2,5 in the bank.

        • jamesimmo says:

For you, I would say Silva, as Yaya is overpriced

        • KungFuKingCantona says:

Was thinking Silva as well. But then he has Newcastle away which can be tricky. Was thinking in the lines of doing Ozil (double up on arsenal short term) and if Cazorla does not fire well..I fire him and replace him with Silva (which I defo want long term anyways)! This Wally injury is just messing up plans!!! laugh

      Do you have Lallana?

      Desmo says:

      what about eriksen james?
i have walcott too, and my plan is take a punt on eriksen (he has palace next week) then sell him the week after, for silva (has cardiff at home! so tempting). i know it sounds like wasting your transfer to bring player in this week then sell him after. but it’s wildcard period, so we can do whole sale change later.

but i still toying between that plan or just bring silva/ozil this week.

      • jamesimmo says:

I’m liming the thought of Eriksen desmo – see below! The only headache is I’ll either have lots of unused money left in he bank, or if I WC it’ll be unplanned and have to saves lot for Agüero’s return!

      • Desmo says:

just see your team james, yeah you need around 4m to get aguero (i assume you will sell lukaku to make that move). if you want to keep roo – aguero – suarez. then i’d say eriksen it is. and downgrade 2 from dawson / kompany / de tea. to upgrade lukaku to aguero.
