Hello again from Banterbury HQ , I trust you all had a fab New Year. It’s been a busy time here at HQ with the continuation of the leagues, the 4th round of the Cup and the up and coming start of the Shield.
Banterbury Leagues
Premier
Cookie’s Monsters recorded his 16th win of the campaign, beating Where’s The Dosh? to stay top – The Dosh, who qualified for the Shield, has lost his last two and are 12pts behind Cookie now and have fallen to 6th place. Arsene’s Boys & Bench also win to keep the pressure on Cookie and stay 2nd and 3rd respectively, while Bocadillo Allstars win in the both Cup and the League and are 4th , holding a 5 point lead over 5th Pork n Cheese United. Reubens Rioters, Gasco’s athletic & Horse FC all move up a place to 7th, 8th & 9th dropping PUT THE OLD DOG DOWN to 10th & Eddy to 11th. Sitting 12th are Killer Instincts who were sitting bottom with just a point after 10 game-weeks – this should give Mutts some encouragement , though I hope it does not start for Mutts in the next game-week as we meet and could really dent my title hopes. Mutts lost again and has decided to activate his January wildcard – as a seasoned fantasy football veteran, i fully expect him to bounce back in the 2nd half of the season. Prutsers; allemaal sit 2nd bottom and are dropping like a lead balloon, having lost their last 4. TheKopKnightRISES move up a place to 18th after beating Kojak’s Fireball who drop to 17th, Kop Warriors & UD Stoke need to watch their backs as both are only a point above the dropzone.

Championship
Moving into the Championship and despite Gallow going for the treble, he slipped to defeat this game-week and drops to 2nd, with james101 taking over at the top. One Under Parr move 3rd and one of our other resident geordie’s, Shylass @ the finish move to 4th with his 4th straight win. Dropping to 5th are WhoIsRonaldo, while staying 6th & 7th are Son of a Pitch & elleffcee after both winning. In 8th is my top tip for the top 3 come the end of the season, namely Mito’s Mercenaries, who have now won 7 of their last 8 – though I was i little worried to hear he had no idea who Bob Paisley OBE was!! Down at the bottom where things are getting very tight, with bottom club Pathético Morbid and 13th placed Glebe Farm Rovers separated by just 5 points , after a big win for Pathético Morbid over The Reds 17th and must feel they are now back in the dog fight for survival.

League 1
The Top 4 stay the same though they all swap places. CFC(Awesome) drop to 2nd with Monty (Caz Daz) hitting top spot – up to 3rd are Deano’s DavesRedDevils and dropping to 4th we have we love manchester . Powerful Potty Fc are 5th and have lost 8 in a row in a startling run of form – he now only sits 1 point above the chasing pack that includes Ajax Trees, Fergie’s Henchmen & BRYAN MUNICH FC. The bottom 4 all stay the same despite 3 of the bottom 4 winning, and a massive shout-out to Nifty’s Hotshots who had lost 16 on the trot – he recorded a much needed win over Fergie’s Henchmen but stays bottom.

League 2
4th Place Trophy remain top and are now 6 points above ChorleyRocks who move 2nd after beating previously 2nd place White Boys Day, who drop to 3rd. In 4th stay Norfulk-in-chance , but the battle is hotting up in mid-table, with 4th place and 13th place separated by just 3pts. Prata has risen from bottom to 9th. At the basement, destroyers & Bryan Munich remain the bottom two and are six points adrift of 18th, while a win for Wanderers1869 sees them close the gap with those above them. 15th to 18th are separated by just a single point.

Okay I’ve decided. No WC and no hits. Eriksen or Gerrard?
Thing is, Gerrard can wait, but Eriksen rising tonight.. ahhh torn
jissimo- u cud get eriksen as a 1 week wonder against cry then gerrard wk after! thats a gamble eh?
I just did chopper mate – aha maybe – we shall see!
Gerrard for me but Eriksen’s price will go up tonight. Do you think Arsenal will spend money to cover Wally? Could be interesting
Wow, just wow. I just read on Dutch teletext that Wally is out for the remainder of the season? And will also miss WC? SHITE!
Screws up my GW (another 4pt hit) but he wasn’t much use in previous WCs so for me it’s almost like a silver lining if he doesn’t go to Brazil. Sucks for him, but he gets paid plenty so no tears fro me
Guys, for you who bought Wally at 9,1, remember that he could still fall one time without affecting your selling price!
Sadly I bought him at 9.2m :((
Thanks Ritz. I forgot that in my panic.
Guys, could you please rate these two WC teams? My WC will most likely be played between GW 23 and 24.
Team Özil
Krul/Marshall – Mannone
Coleman – Shaw – Burner – Chester – Gabbidon
Hazard – Oscar – Silva – Özil – Parker
Aguero – Suarez – Adebayor
0.1 itb
Team ePod
Szczesny – 4.0 GK
Coleman – Burner – Chester – Gabbidon – Ivan/other premium defender
Hazard – Oscar – Silva – Eriksen – Parker
Suarez – Aguero – Podolski
0.6 itb
I’m a little tight on funds when it comes to team Özil, and as he’ll definitely rise several times this week I would need to take a hit to be able to bring in Özil. I don’t want to WC this week.
I prefer team ePod myself, due to a cheaper – but not necessarily worse – Arsenal and Tottenham attacking exposure that finances a better defense.
Tekno – No.1 for me, only change I would do though is Oscar for Gerrad…
Both Eriksen and Ozil in midfield (no Parker), get a cheaper 3rd striker (Hooper/JRod)
You think Eriksen will get more points than Adebayor? Not to sure about that myself, and I’d have to have a cheaper 3rd striker like Chamakh to be able to afford it.
Thanks guys, I’ve contemplated who to go with between Oscar and Gerrard and I’ve opted for Oscar because his ppm is considerably higher than Gerrard’s…
Tekno – all fine, mate…holds water…but, still – why would you wanna duble up on Chelsea mid ?!?!
This is what’s confusing me…not the Oscar/Gerrard question… 😉
To be honest I’m not a fan of having two mids/strikers from the same team at all, it’s just seems to me that besides Hazard, Silva, Yaya and Özil, Oscar and Gerrard are the best options out there. Both Oscar and Hazard are very involved in Chelsea’s attack, so I don’t mind doubling up since both players seem guaranteed to deliver points.
I respect ur choice Tekno..no worries, mate… 😉
Just sayin’ – if it was me, I would’ve opted for Gerrard instead…
