Banterbury Updates Gameweek 22 FPL Fantasy Premier League

bant-leagueHello and welcome again to The Banterbury league review for game-week 22, with me Bench, I will be reviewing the 4 Banterbury leagues, Mito & Potty will review the Banterbury Shield. Also in the Nut House this week we have a young apprentice, who Potty has already tried to wind up by sending him to the down to Mito’s office to ask for a long weight! The 3 of us would like to express a warm welcome to NIN who will take up the job of covering the 2 Banterbury Qualification Leagues, welcome aboard NIN and thanks for your time. Ok here we go, firstly let’s see who the movers & shakers are around the Leagues.

Premier
There are only 3 points separating the top 4 now, as 4th place Park Bench Exports beat the pace setters and still leaders Cookie’s Monsters 64-58. Swapping places in 2nd and 3rd are Bocadillo Allstars who have won their last 7 and Arsene’s Boys who failed to take advantage of Cookie’s slip up as they lost 45-41 to Where’s The Dosh? in 6th. Staying 5th are Pork n Cheese United but are 8 points adrift of the top 4. Horse FC move up to 7th and are one of 4 teams on 34 points, a massive 17 points off leader Cookie, the others being Reubens Rioters 8th, POSH COCKNEY aka peaky 9th & Eddy Hitler XI 10th. Rising Phoenix win and move up to 12th and are now 9 points above the drop-zone, there were also big wins for UD Stoke 14th & TheKopKnightRISES 15th. A point was enough to take Kop Warriors out of the relegation places but only on overall points, after he played out a 62-62 draw with Killer Instincts. Replacing him is Prutsers; allemaal 18th while the bottom two of Kojak’s Fireball & THE MUTTS NUTS stay the same after both narrowly lost.

Championship
James 101 has opened up a 4 point lead at the top as 2nd place Gallowgators surprisingly lost to 15th place Balotellibubbies. With the Shield and Cup having a break next game-week, surely the matchup between these two next week is the biggest in all the leagues and could go a long way to deciding who wins the title. In the final promotion place and 2 points behind Gallow are Shylass @ the finish who also have a massive game next week against 4th placed One Under Parr, who themselves are currently 4 points behind Shylass. Real Morbid move up to 5th while Son of a Pitch 6th, WhoIsRonaldo 7th & elleffcee 8th all drop a place, Mito stays 9th. Down at the other end, the bottom two met with Pathético Morbid beating The Gallant Pioneers 56-51, a result that took Pathético off the foot of the table for the first time in months. Soap Powder Thieves remain in the bottom 3 despite beating Mito 63-61. Next week we have the 3rd of the big match ups in this league as Soap Powder Thieves in 18th come up against The Gallant Pioneers in 20th,  a game just as important as the big games at the top of the table.

League 1
Monty (Caz Daz) 1st and CFC(Awesome) 2nd continue to trade blows at the top, with both winning tight matches. Monty beat we love manchester 51-46 dropping them to 7th while CFC beat inittowinit*** 53-47, a result which sees init drop to 12th and 11 points off of a promotion place. DavesRedDevils win and stay 3rd, while the Powerful Potty Fc defeat to BRYAN MUNICH FC means they drop out of the top 4 for the first time this season, great news for MUNICH who replace them and are now only a win off those magic top 3 places and championship football next season. Ajax Trees 6th & Fergie’s Henchmen 8th will believe they are still very much in the promotion race. At the bottom, The Flying Indian beat bottom club Nifty’s Hotshots, his 4th win in 6 outings and moves out of relegation places dropping Bodene’s Army into trouble. Staying 2nd bottom are The SpecialOne who lost again and are 9 points from safety.

League 2
4th Place Trophy stay top despite defeat to Wavey Squad who move up to 4th. White Boys Day cuts the lead at the top to just 2 points and move up to 2nd dropping ChorleyRocks to 3rd as they were beaten by the team of the moment, Prata, who are now 6th. Long-time leaders Norfulk-in-chance lose 53-50 to Manlet F.C, dropping Norfulk to 7th while manlet move up to 5th. There were also wins for Busby Babes & Gunnersaurus moving them up to 8th & 9th. Bring onthe Trumpets 12th & Denbow’s Degenerates 13th also had big wins and are both moving clear of the drop-zone. The only change at the bottom sees Wanderers1869 17th swap places with Arsene’s Profit 18th. The bottom two met with Bryan Munich 19th beating destroyers 20th who are now 6 points adrift at the foot of the table.

Qualification Leagues H2H (1 place). Brought to you by our new contributor NIN!
This week saw an upset or two in the Banterbury H2H qualifier. Whats the story FC took top spot after a dominating 63-39 victory over Jon FC, 2nd spot belongs to Mystic Devils who recorded a 61-56 victory against ‘THE LEGENDARY SUCKER’. In 3rd place lies former leader Zoostorm FC who crashed to a narrow 61-69 defeat against Olympic Duck FC. Ba Ba Black Sheep jumped two spots from 6th to 4th this week after defeating @BonusFPL 60-55, another close fought victory in what is proving to be a very tough field. In 5th place is Turtlepower who also recorded a narrow win against Wellesely Grove FC, winning by just 2 points in a 65-63 victory. Hua Hin United and The Cules lie in 6th and 7th place respectively, Hua Hin lost out 47-45 to “pIMp My siDe”, The Cules also tasted defeat in GW22, just losing out 41-47 against NINja Warriors. The top 8 is what all managers in this league are battling for and rounding off the top 8 are LANGOLD SMA4CKHEADS who defeated Road to nowhere FC 69-58. Team Booom!!! achieved the highest score this week with a colossal 88, for whom fc phoenix were no match despite a more than respectable 58. This week’s round up wouldn’t be complete without a mention of everyone’s favourite cannibal (if there is such a thing!). Silence of the Lambs, managed by HL, got off to the worst start imaginable, losing their opening 8 ties, although they were very unlucky along the way. Silence of the Lambs have now recorded back to back victories, this week defeating big sams lumpit fc by a hefty 40 points in a 67-27 victory. This goes to show that there is hope for any team who started poorly in this division, the vast majority of ties are very close so steadily moving up is more than achievable, keep the faith!!

Qualification Classic League (2 Places)
Just 57 points separate the top 10 after GW22. Remaining in 1st place is Norfolk ‘n Chance who scored a solid 56 points in a game-week which disappointed many managers. The Cape Bulls and Cloughie’s Revival lie 2nd and 3rd respectively after also scoring 56 points, the latter rose from 5th to 3rd this week. The Special Onesie and No way o’ winning make up the top five, No way o’ winning rose from 8th to 5th after a 65 point haul ,an excellent score. Joint 5th is Anabolic Ripsaw who also scored well, finishing with 62. Making up the top 10 this week are, Watchful Defenders, NINja warriors, Ba Ba Black Sheep and Indecisive FC. Other notable scores this week were Olympic Duck FC who scored highest in the division with 69 points and Jagerbombs who also broke the 60 mark with 64 points. The competition is rife in this league and with just two places in the Banterbury leagues up for grabs, it promises to be an epic battle to the end.

Shield Group 1 Results
Cookie’s Monsters 58 (Blue Sexy) vs Powerful Potty FC 46
In the foregone conclusion H2H match up of the game-week, not surprisingly, Blue Sexy easily took down Potty’s 11. Potty only managed to score about half of what he did last week. The only surprising thing about this match up was the fact that Potty’s family secretly bet on Cookie. They might as well take advantage of the situation, I guess. Now the Big Blue Squad awaits the Butler in the next match, in a FF247 writers grudge match.

ChorleyRocks 56 (CR) vs James101 (Butler) 65
The Butler secured his first win in the Shield and sent CR’s team into deep trouble. With his second loss in two, it looks like CR will now depend on turning around his luck with a big win in his next Shield match up. Good thing for him, he plays Potty next. Potty’s family is counting on you CR, no pressure! As for the Butler it’s Cookie next… in a head to head with his hero Blue Sexy. I wonder who will win the battle between the Spoilt Prince of Monaco and the Butler?

Shield Group 2 Results
GallowGators (Wizard of Newcastle) 53 vs White Boys Day (Drexl) 60

In a H2H that had “Big Win” written all over it for either side, it was Drexl that emerged victorious. The Wizard did not prove to have enough magic to stave off the use of the Wildcard by his opponent; suffering a setback in what could prove to be a very critical 3 points in the battle for the group. This stinging loss will surely have had the Wizard circle the date for the return match-up, where he will have a chance to exact his revenge. As for Drexl, he will now look to keep the pressure on, with what should be an easy win over Where’s the Dosh.
CFC (Awesome) 53 vs Where’s the Dosh (John) 45
CFC, who was a hard luck loser last week, against the now first place (by tie breaker) Drexl, needed a win to get his team going in the right direction. Lucky for him, his head to head game this week was against Where’s the Dosh. John has easily the weakest team in the Shield, a true certified cupcake (easy win). John still refuses to pull his finger out and to make it fair to Drexl, who has not faced him yet, by all means –leave it in! CFC now faces the Wizard in what promises to be another abuse fuelled match-up if the tweets I have seen are of any indication.

Hot off the Press its Pottys Review of Groups 3 & 4!!!!
Group 3
Monty Caz Daz  51 vs  Arsene’s Boys 41
A top of the table performance from Monty won this tie handsomely, Mertsacker and Adeybour did him proud as Arsene’s men of Kompany and Lallana could not cope with Monty’s firepower.

WholsRonaldo  43 vs  Norfolk en Chance 50
So 7 Turkey plucking points decided this match with Norfolk’s Spurs duo of Eriksen & Adeybour doing the damage as Ronaldo’s Hazard and Ki Sung had a off day.
WholsRonaldo sits proudly in bottom spot and will need to turn things around quickly.

Group 4
4th Place Trophy  50 vs  Son of a Pitch 55
Yes that Irish charm is paying dividends as a nice team display sees Son of a Pitch sit top of this Group, his opponent 4th Place Trophy played Mignolet and Bardsley which backfired in his face, the explosion sent him into 4th Place and zero points so far.

We Love Manchester  46 vs Park Bench Exports 64
Our west country bumpkin Bench scored off the field mid-week for the first time in a year and replicated it again in this duel. We Love Manchester’s own Zabaleta and Negredo under performed so Park Bench Exports seized the day as his own Manc pair of Aguero and Silva claimed their first 3 points of this Shield campaign.

Will anyone Consider Mata if he goes to United.

I’m on my WC, nearly happy, but with doubts around the following players

    – Cabaye (off to PSG perhaps? Too risky?)
    – Dawson (Spurs not their usual defensive selves?)
    – Faye (3.8m, non-playing, but have no cash to upgrade…)

Are there better alternatives to any of these? For the same price or less…

Hi as the Shield seems to where everyone want to be , i have a idea for next season give everyone a chance to be in it , i will throw my idea up later and please comment so i can judge if its workable or not

    Bench@BanterburyLeagues says:

This is my idea i wish to put to all Banterbury Leaguers , including those in the Qualification leagues & those on the waiting list for next year

The main Banterbury Leagues will remain 3up ,3down bar League 2, where 4 teams will lose their place

The Banterbury Cup will have early season Qualifying Rounds , to give those not in the main leagues a chance to enter

Qualification Leagues- which i hope there will be 4 H2H leagues with the top four from each leagues after GW36 play off beween the other teams in League for the Banterbury Place

Banterbury Shield – will change and only the top 3 teams from each of the Banterbury Leagues at Christmas will automatically qualify for the group stage , why the 4th place team will have a one off play-off with the 4 Qualification league Leaders at Christmas, the Play-off with will take place before the New Year , the winners from each place-off , will entry the Group stage when the competition start in January

Please comment with your thoughts , cheers Bench@banterburyleagues

Bench, it’s a huge amount of work but I think all the guys will like your thinking. Thumbs up from me mate, as the first to reply do I get a bye for next season?

Bench, not currently in the leagues, but I am interested for next season!

Bench – it sounds quality. I run a league not even nearly on this scale so I got a small idea of the work put in here. Cheers for the ‘name in lights’ moment by the way – 88 points has helped my mini league positions big time.

As for any suggestions – how about maybe the top 3 in each H2h qualifying league + the next 4 highest real point scorers across all 4 qualifying H2H leagues get a chance to battle for one of the 4 promotion spots to league 2. That way luck of the draw of what league you’re in is somewhat negated, and a nice balance of H2H results and overall point gathering is rewarded.
