Captains Picks Fantasy Football Gameweek 24 – Fantasy Premier League 2014/15
On any normal transfer deadline day nothing would have trumped Carlisle United’s procurement of Nathan Buddle from Blyth Spartans. But like a crossbar shuddering from a Geoff Hurst thunderbolt, the football world is still reverberating from the impact of Monday’s biggest story; Man Utd’s signing of defender Andy Kellet on loan from Bolton. When asked whether he’d still retain his 3-5-2 formation in light of this capture, Louis van Gaal mumbled, “But of course. We are in a bad moment like Queens Park Raisins. Kellet will make the youth team strong. This is football.”
If you went for Harry Kane as captain last week, one of Calvin Clyne’s tips, you’ll have been rewarded handsomely with a 26 point haul. Gambles on Cazorla and Walters would have been ever sweeter, shovelling 34 or 38 points respectively your way.
So to Gameweek 24. The fact that Andy Kellet hasn’t made it into today’s Captain Picks is testament to the quality of the quintet that has. Right, shall we?

[/three_fourth]5. Theo Walcott (away vs Spurs)
He’s back, and just like nearly every other comeback he’s made, it caught most of us off guard.
After a few rusty cameo appearances from the bench, Theo already looks ready to stake a claim on our hearts, minds and most importantly a return to our FPL squads. He bagged a goal in his first league start in over a year, showing glimpses of the explosive form that brought him 14 goals and 13 assists in 2012/13. Having clocked up over 140 minutes including his FA Cup stint versus Hull, it would seem that Arsenal’s road runner is finally ready for the end of season run-in.

4. Harry Kane (home vs Arsenal)
Spurs biggest signing of the transfer window was getting ‘one of their own’, and former Arsenal fan, Harry Kane to pen a new five-and-a-half year contract at The Lane, taking his tenure through to the end of the decade. Genuine 2020 vision. Of course, what will probably happen is he’ll be bought by Man City in 2 years and rebranded as Citizen Kane. Enough of the future hypotheticals. Right now, ‘Dirty Sanchez’ is in danger of being overshadowed by North London’s own sharpshooting Dirty Harry. A winning goal against the Gunners would surely embalm him eternally in Spurs folklore. Banking on a captain in the unique cauldron of a derby is a gamble. You’ve got to ask yourself, ‘Do I feel lucky?’. Well, do ya, punk?

[/three_fourth]3. Eden Hazard (away vs Aston Villa)
How new recruit Cuadrado will affect Chelsea’s offensive dynamics remains to be seen, but one imagines very positively. Hazard’s productivity shows no sign of waning, with or without the addition of a pacy Colombian at Villa Park. Mourinho has often criticized, and been criticized for, teams that park the bus. Well, against a bottom of the form table Villa side that has failed to score in 10 hours and only netted 11 times all season, he can probably get away with parking a tricycle inconspicuously next to one of the fire exits. Another defeat in the manner of their 5-0 Emirates mauling, this time within the less forgiving walls of his home crowd, could see the much maligned manager finally doing the Lambert Walk. His main antagonist will be Hazard, who has recently proven with goals at Southampton and Spurs that Stamford Bridge is no longer the only Garden of Eden.

[/three_fourth]2. David Silva (home vs Hull)
Following 3 straight defeats, fans of injury-ravaged Hull City will be hoping their players don’t show the same generosity that saw them contribute heavily to their own downfall against Newcastle. That’s if they can even get the ball off David Silva to begin with. Gran Canaria’s pocket-sized performer grabbed his 7th goal at Chelsea last Saturday, already equalling his career-best in the Premier League. An instinctive poke diverting a wayward Aguero shot back on course means we can now add poaching to his armoury of weapons. For the alliteration addicts at large, that makes him a poking, pocket-sized, poaching performer. For the FPL addicts at large, that makes him captaincy gold.

[/three_fourth]1. Sergio Aguero (home vs Hull)
With the exception of Chelsea’s game at Villa Park, Man City’s fixture is quite arguably the only match of the weekend that looks predictable. What seems even more predictable is that Aguero will bag a nice wedge of FPL points. Yes, yes, he hasn’t scored since his return from his latest injury, but they’ve been against Chelsea and Arsenal. He’s played a modest 1,247 minutes in all so far this season, notching 14 goals with 4 assists. That’s a goal every 89 minutes! So there you have it. He is literally guaranteed to score against Steve Bruce’s timid Tigers who’ve conceded 11 without reply in the last 3 games. The only sane reason not to captain Sergio Aguero is if you don’t have him.

That’s an excellent read Bry, many thanks for your punditry time spent on this.
OI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who said Sanchez was allowed to drop last night? This is terrible.
Vlaar is on my list to buy back after the Chelsea game. 4.3m and he’s still pure class. Think they can lock shit up again with him in the team.
Hi again, Raz. Why not just get Vlaar right now while you still have your WC active? Saves you a FT which you may need later.
And 😉 yeah, I was wondering why Sanchez was in your temp team of “potential risers”, I should’ve said something about it last night I guess…
It’s ok. Haven’t lost any SV on Sanchez. If he drops another 0.1m I will lose 0.1m SV on him though.
As for Vlaar. I’m actually considering it, their fixtures look much better after Chelsea. Also, people don’t know this but outside of the top 4 before the Arsenal game, they conceded the least goals of all the teams. 😉
You should be ok with Sanchez for at least a day or so, even though he’s selling faster than any player except Bertrand (says FFFix data).
I reckon with defenders and goalies, don’t plan on making any changes after the WC. Then, unless there are injuries, you can use FTs to adjust your front 8 to suit each GW’s fixtures.
Before I went to sleep last night (a few hours before ummmmm changes were made). I think Sanchez was at freaking -60 or -70 percent. The fact he went down was super odd.
By the way GKW. Do you have Sanchez in your team still? I just haven’t sold him yet, waiting on Friday presser, hope they give me the time.
Raz, no I already sold Sanchez to get Silva. Even if Sanchez is back, Silva playing at home to Hull is at least as promising as Sanchez away to Spurs. And I wanted an Arsenal spot to bring in Bellerin early as a potential riser
I cant see him making any difference. Villa are all over the place. Worse than Hull, and that’s saying something.
I do see it coming good. Difference of opinion, I guess. Like I said just above your head. Villa conceded the least goals outside of the top 4 before the Arsenal game. I remember Sunderland having 1 freak accident versus Soton, after that they tidied shit up. Now they kept 8 cleansheets this season, which is pretty good.
Certainly a difference of opinion here mate. I think they’re on the slippery slope to the Championship.
They are, but that’s mainly because they can’t score. 😉
Hopefully it works out for you mate. It just seems way too risky to spend a FT on Villa defence when there’s blank/DGW’s ahead. Surely there are steadier, safer options at least.
I know City let us down in the past but they do have some tasty fixtures coming up.
Who out of the ADM , Cazorla & Silva for nk 6 GW not sure I want 3 attacking ARS players though
Silverback – Cazorla, for me. Silva a very close 2nd with Di Maria miles behind both of them. I’ve got the three of them and Di Maria is gone next GW for Sanchez.
Silvers
Cazorla for me out of those three but with two other Arsenal then Silva (if you don’t have Aguero).
hi guys
here is my team
foster
azpi van anhold bertrand
sanchez oscar downing dimaria
kane giroud aguero
bench:myhill baird boyd yun
I have to trsfr bertrand out as he’s out for the next 2-3gw. I was thnkng of clichy(easy fixtures) or kocsielni(arsenal is in top form but playing tot away)?
any advices plz?
do i take -4 for oscar or azpi? As they are not playing on gw27..
nauj – I like the Clichy pick (don’t tell Cookie i said that 😉 ) due to the ease of their fixtures. I considered him myself but went elsewhere in the end. Clichy/Clyne should see you right i think. Both are good picks. As for the hit, nope. Villa is too juicy a fixture to be selling Chelsea players, for me. Especially for a hit as they could quite easily hit Villa for 4+.
Ok, so did Bertrand to Fonte.
Have 1 more FT and £0.2 Bank
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Respect – I’d do Pelle to Giroud if you can afford. If not do Shawcross to Wollscheid. Also start Alexis over Boyd.
Alternatively Dummet to PVA or Wasi.
short 0.3 for Giroud. so maybe keep FT or take Shawcross off? He wont be fit? Actually I wont need him anyway.
Respect,
Yeah, keep the FT then.
