Welcome to the FF247 Community Team review for the 2016/17 season. It’s fair to say it’s been a season of highs and lows for the Community Team. Let’s start with the low; GW 31 rank of 1,005,432. Ouch. And onto one of the highs; from GW 31, seven straight green arrows and a final rank of 308,237. Not a great rank and a drop off from last season, but an increase of nearly 700,000 places in the last seven weeks is no mean feat. All that voted, take a bow! Let’s take a look at some stats behind the Community Teams season using the excellent FPL Statistico site (http://anewpla.net). The FF247 Community Team’s ID is 79962 if you’d like to check out the facts for yourself. Fantasy Football The FF247 Community Team – We go again It was around this time twelve months ago that another team joined the 3 million-strong throng of Fantasy Football Teams vying for the crown of overall world champion. Except in this case it would be “champions” as this team was a little different. You were in it. And you. You, too. I was as well. The FF247 Community Team (founded 2015) was born, and indeed borne out of a curiosity of a few regulars who wondered if we could have a fantasy team representing all you good good people. Let’s embrace what we did last year, with an overall respectable final rank of 100,193 and see if we can improve on that the second time around. For those new to this concept, your management team of myself, elleffcee and NZ Alex will guide you via co...[Read More]
Fantasy Football The FF247 Community Team Two seasons ago Cookie put out a call for new ideas for the Fantasy Football 247 site. I saw the request before leaving for work and whilst driving I kept thinking how we could have a Community team run by the people who frequent the site. One question kept coming back to me; if you get the median answers of a fantasy football community, would it lead to a successful fantasy football team? After discussing it with the FF247 team we decided it would be too hard (logistically) to run that season and it went on the back burner. At the start of this season we decided it might be doable but we were still unsure of the logistics. Thankfully the offer of help came from two seasoned FF players, namely The Gallant Pioneer and Elleffcee and between the three...[Read More]
Fantasy Football The FF247 Community Team What is it they say about a camel being a horse designed by committee? Well we wanted to see if we too could create a camel from well, a few donkeys actually, but let’s not be harsh and name names. You know who you are! The inaugural season was always going to be one laced with teething problems but we are dealing with them as best we can and as diplomatically as we can. The Nobel Prize is in the bag we feel. We try to take an open view on all matters relating to our team and do what the people want or as close as we can get based on the voices we hear. Not in our heads, the other ones we mean. The purpose of this article is to simply provide a refresh and a reminder as to our progress so far and encourage continued participation going forward. If ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football The FF247 Community Team What do Heart of Midlothian, AFC Wimbledon and Galatasaray have in common? They are all football clubs owned and operated by their supporters. So? So, I thought that seeing as this works brilliantly within (some) football clubs, then I wondered if this could be transferred to the fantasy world. A hugely talented fantasy player friend of mine first mooted this idea this close season and it got me to thinking, what if we did have our FF247 community represented as a single entity this coming season? I wondered if it could work. I wondered how it would work. I wondered if people would like the idea or how popular it could grow to be. I wondered if the FF247 Community Team could be the first supporter-owned team to win the World Title. As far as I am a...[Read More]
