Fantasy Football Fixtures

The first FPL article of the week that looks forward to the up and coming gameweek is the Fantasy Football Fixtures article, where we sort through which Premier League clubs have the easiest and hardest looking fantasy premier league fixtures for the short-term and thus enable managers to construct their FPL squads and think over transfers accordingly.

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 30

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 30 Well that was a bit more like it wasn’t it? Game-week 29 saw a wave of points flood our sorry assed fantasy teams and give us a much needed shot in the arm, or in the arse, whatever you prefer, and actually brought a smile or two from even the most disgusted of fantasy managers. Okay, so that might be a slight exaggeration. Some will still moan away despite having their best week in ages but that is a mark of how this season has gone. We’re on tenter hooks with it all and it wont take much for a toy or two to be hurled from the FPL pram. This week marks the beginning of the madness, that part of the season where the coveted DGW’s begin to pop up and also the dreaded BGW’s. This week, unfortunately, its the latter. Just the six ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 27

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 27 Darn these pesky cup-blank-lack-o-FPL’y goodness breaks. How dare they take our beloved game away from us, the cheek! Unfortunately, we’ve got to put up with it from time to time but we are delighted to welcome league footy back this weekend. The first blank-week of the season sees Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle sit this one out, leaving us with a few difficult decisions to make. Which players to take on and which to sell this week may just shape the next few weeks for our teams as the season begins to draw to a close. The business end is well and truly upon us, so, without further ado, let’s have a look at some potential yays and nays for the coming weeks as we continue the hunt for respectability…

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 26

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 26 Twenty-five down, thirteen to go and most of us are still wondering just what the flip is going on in the Premier League this season! Easily one of the hardest to predict, it has at the very least been an even bigger challenge than usual and the actual footie itself, well, it’s been entertaining to say the least! This time last year we were looking at Nigel Pearson’s Leicester as nothing more than cannon fodder, destined for a return to the second tier. However, these past twelve months have seen a remarkable turn around in fortunes as evidenced by the dismantling of Manchester City last weekend, moving them five points clear of nearest rivals, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. Has this crazy turnaround had a knock on effect in the league? Ma...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 24

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 24 Let’s talk strategy! We are talking ML strategy. And by ML we mean mini-league strategy. And by mini-league we mean that one you are in with your mates at work or maybe even just your weekly football game, the one that you talk about, the one that probably means the most to you. The one you want to win, for kudos sake, if nothing else. Well, we want to help you win it. There are just 15 game-weeks left now and so we feel it is time to start concentrating on what is important to you rather than the overall position. Ideally, overall position and ML glory go hand in hand but in reality that is only if your overall rank is such that the opposition cannot touch you. Let’s cut straight to the chase here – if you are in the lead then just ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 23

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 23 Given the unpredictable nature of the season we have had so far we were beginning to wonder whether the fixtures themselves were actually even a viable consideration in transfer decisions and as such we paid particular interest to the comments this week to see how many times an answer referred to the fixture itself in terms of whether to pick, play, or transfer in or out a given player. Our extensive research on this matter concluded that at least 72% of such comments alluded to the strength of the fixture ahead or indeed to future fixtures. So it is with much relief that we can safely say that even if ‘anyone can beat anyone’ this season then the strength or otherwise of the opposition does still carry a fair bit of weight. This weeks res...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 21

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 21 Welcome to 2016 and we hope it treats you a bit better in fantasy terms than the latter half of 2015 probably did! Wow, what a strange one that was and here’s hoping some normality returns soon but we wouldn’t hold your breath. Maybe with the likes of Aguero, Silva and Payet back and hopefully Sanchez returning sometime soon then it may do but that still won’t compensate for the likes of, well let’s say anybody, being able to beat anybody else on their day which has pretty much been the case so far. Apart from Aston Villa of course. They’re gone but the rest is open in terms of relegation places, European places and of course the title itself. Well, we all moaned when Ronaldo and Suarez were here for making fantasy footba...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 17

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 17 In the words of Sir Bob “It’s Christmas time, and there’s no need to be afraid”… Well, we can only assume Bob never played fantasy football as we can tell you that there certainly is! It’s time to plump up your squads as rotation bites at this time of year. The seasoned fantasy vets will be well aware of this but for anyone new then you may have been able to sail through September to now with a threadbare squad of 12 or so ‘playing players’ but the upcoming schedule will find you out if you aren’t prepared. Manuel Pellegrini went early with this theory and benched both KdB and Kolarov this week, almost like a warning shot to fantasy managers everywhere. GW17 is, in theory, the last of the normal GW...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 16 Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is a famished polar bear with a torch. Sometimes the cute co-worker you’ve scored a date with is a recluse with an unhealthy penchant for cannibalism. Sometimes hope is a dangerous thing. Take Liverpool and Chelsea. Demonstrating all the rash prematurity of a teenage boy fapping himself blind, the mainstream media had tipped Klopp’s Kop for a tilt at the top. No sooner had the ink dried on their eulogistic proclamations than Newcastle, a team at their season’s nadir, had sports editors everywhere firing staff. Mourinho’s woes have been well documented; however, recent displays had shown a solidity, if not yet flair, that promised to be the foundation for a steady recovery. Yet predic...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 15

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 15 What a Kun! Please feel free to alter and insert your own letters in that sentence accordingly… Yes, the little maestro returned to many a fantasy team this week and served up a reminder of why many others just didn’t bother. He did manage to break the hallowed 60 minute mark, just about, so at least that’s something. Ok, we are clutching at straws for you here. He did however, in typical and now almost inevitable fashion, exit stage left with a limp. Are you listening Alexis, limping after 60 is ok (ish), more on you later… It wasn’t as big a limp as that displayed by those who transferred out Kevin de Bruyne in order to finance the move though, as the Belgian sprang back to life with a goal, two assists and all three bo...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 14

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 14 Anybody need a hug?! Evidently that’s all it takes to turn a once ailing team into an all conquering team of superstars. We are now selling FPL hugs for a pound a go. Given how this season is going we expect to make a million! We are of course referring to Herr Klopp and his touchy-feely management style which has seen Liverpool suddenly become a viable fantasy (and perhaps real) force once again. When we all thought he was spending the International break drilling in tactics and philosophy all he was in fact doing was hugging everybody. Well it takes all sorts and it is certainly working! The FPL irony this week was that it wasn’t actually that bad for once with popular picks such as Lukaku surprising everyone by not flopping for once whe...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 13

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 13 One thing they don’t teach you in fantasy football school is to have a good sense of humour but boy do you need one sometimes and no more so than when the International Breaks come around. The last one decimated many a previously healthy squad. We are of course still in the middle of the current one and await to see what ‘joys’ it will bestow upon us but with the likes of Payet and Bony getting themselves injured, even before it began, most will be hoping for better news this time around. Even barring any more major injury scares we already have Wenger associating Sanchez with phrases like ‘burn-out’ and ‘red zone’ and current golden boy Jamie Vardy giving the FA a headache over ‘finger-gate’. So s...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 12

Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 12 Another week, another unexpected hat-trick! Last week we spoke of how some players are suddenly coming out from the shadows to shine. Well, this weeks one came out from the shadows of the deepest darkest cave. The deepest darkest cave on Mars. Presumably he gave Naismith a high 5 on his way out after the ginger ones treble against Chelsea. Lukaku got all the attention ahead of this week as Everton had the ‘fantasy gift that just keeps giving’ in the shape of Sunderland at home. And he did ok, but it wasn’t to be his day as this time it came from the boots of none other than Arouna Kone for a total of 20 points. 40 if you captained him. 60 for the apparently lucky 5 in nearly 4 million that somehow landed the triple cap chip on the Iv...[Read More]
