Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 5

Hello everyone and welcome to the gameweek AND the second FNF (Friday Night Football) of the season!

Shortly we begin with Newcastle United v Leeds United which our very own Rosco will be attending assuming he is still allowed onto the Gallowgate following his questionable behaviour surrounding CR7 and his ‘beloved’ Toon last Saturday. Kidding, that man is a pro and he had his FPL business head on and let’s face it, until Newcastle are taken over we’re all allowed to be fed up by the Geordies!

Saturday starts with Wolves v Brentford at lunchtime which will hopefully be a good watch as warm up to four 3pm kick offs with Burnley *cough* welcoming Arteta’s Arsenal to Turf Moor, Liverpool playing Palace at Anfield, Manchester City hosting Southampton at Eastlands and Watford officially being able to use their away kit correctly as they head to East Anglia to tangle with Norwich.

Aston Villa v Everton should make for a decent game on Saturday at 5.30pm.

Due to European involvement we have the three Thursday teams playing on Sunday this week and in fact, they will be for a number of their weekends until December – they had better get used to it!

Firstly, at 2pm we’re at the Amex Stadium as Brighton entertain Leicester fresh from them facing Napoli whilst simultaneously, West Ham United – who will have been in Croatia – come home to face Ronaldo, Bruno, Mason etc etc etc. Tough.

At 4.30pm, Europa Conference League flag-bearers Spurs hop back from across the channel having played Rennes, come home to face Lukaku, Havertz, Mount etc etc etc. Double Tough.

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 5 from all at FF247!

Thanks for reading FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 5.

  1. Hope everyone is having a good GW, I need hauls from Ronaldo and Lukaku to make up for not having Salah – very painful dash

I know it’s very early but looking ahead here, would it make sense to do Shaw >> TAA and Torres >> Gray? I have the exact change, was previously thinking Dias >> Marcal to find Trent but City’s defence looks too solid with only 1 goal conceded so far, and Wolves 2 today.

    • You can’t possibly transfer in Trent tonight without knowing what’s wrong with him.

      • That sentence can be said in various accents – with the emphasis on ‘possibly’ – to marvellous comic effect.

I’m imagining a schoolteacher saying it with hollow abruptness.

    • Given the firepower you have I’m sure you’ll be fine. I came close to getting Lukaku in this week and he’s the one I fancy could cause havoc tomorrow. Your other striker’s not too bad, either.

I’d leave Shaw in for Villa and maybe use 2FT to work TAA in after. If Raphinha is out then maybe his money could be shifted in a defensive direction (if you’re relaxed about playing 4 at the back).

    • I am also similar to u and have no salah.
I also have dias. Dont sell him
City will keep getting clean sheets and he almost always plays. I got in trent this week and c him which failed.
I guess have to get in salah atleast from gw8 for ronaldo..

    • Thanks everyone!

    • I decided to pull the trigger on my WC, I had too many players I wanted. This is how my team is looking now, surely going to undergo many changes throughout the week.

Going to be playing 4-3-3, not happy with the quality of a couple of my starters and want some City defence, but need to compromise to fit in all the big hitters

      • Veer, why don’t you spend this remaining 0.2 and get Alonso instead of Rudiger?
With the great upcoming fixtures he will be involved in a goal or two.

      • Looks like you will be playing Livramento most weeks?(Assuming Tsim won’t play much).

  2. What a strange GW so far wacko
52 points with only Ronaldo and Sanchez to play

  3. Wow! Waking up here to some crazy stuff. I guess it’s going to be one of those GW!

  4. Has anyone looked at the current highest weekly scoring team?
He/she benched Salah but went to TC ASM crazy

    • One off team too. No previous GW history. Makes you wonder what they know.

      • Yep, definitely a weekly cash price team. It will disappear next week.

        • No wonder why so many new teams are popping up.
Almost 158 K new ones since last Saturday

        • Please explain to me why that is? You can’t win manager of the week if you use a chip. Is there some cash prize outside of the main game site? Help a yankee out.

        • ODT, these are all private black market gambling leagues involving hundreds of thousand of $
Member bet like 50-100 and whoever wins gets the top price which in many cases is at least 1 K.
Most of them are in the Middle East but lately became popular in Europe and the rest of the world.

        • Ahh, gotcha.

  5. Waiting for CHE game. Have a feeling Luka is going to score a hattie.

    • I see it been a scrapy 2-1. Maybe he’ll get an og and claim the lot lol

  6. Given the amount of players out each week (including a number only revealed after deadline) is a scrub 3rd striker looking a dead strategy?

    • I would go as far as to say any scrub player is a risk. I mean there must be many a manager calling two players from their bench this GW.

    • I had may be 5 players out during this week (before transfers). Antonio, Harrison, TAA, Dier (TBC), Benrahma (TBC). I went aggressive on the hits this week to dig myself out. I’m sure many will have been short.

    • It’s annoying as we can usually just bury the non-playing dreck deep on our benches. And then tidy it up with the first wildcard. As I haven’t wildcarded I still have some zombies from GW1 flapping uselessly around my side.
