Fantasy Football 247 FPL Team – GW2

Tips fantasy footballGW1 for the FF247 team resulted in a solid, but not spectacular 66pts. The highlights were certainly in the midfield where Ramsey, Fabregas and Sigurdsson all contributed double-figure returns, while two of our strikers, Rooney and Costa both scored – Rooney as captain doubled his tally to 14pts. There were a few disappointments also – United’s shocking home loss meant just 3pts combined from De Gea and Mata, while Chambers and Caulker, who we were hoping for clean sheets from, let us down by both conceding at home to Palace and Hull, respectively. Our third striker Jovetic brought home just 2pts and is a concern, especially with Aguero making a late impact as a goal scoring substitute. Fortunately, we weren’t left frustrated with points on the bench, with O’Shea and Ward scoring just a point each and Myhill and El Ahmadi not playing.

We have decided to hold our transfer for this week and run with what we have got for GW2, giving our underperforming players another chance to deliver. This gives us another week to study form and consistency of selection and of course two free transfers to look forward to next time. Jovetic we need to monitor, while we will also keenly keep an eye on Aguero when City host Liverpool on Monday evening. Our third striker is an interesting situation and if we decide to move early into Aguero, we will need to raise funds, but that is a thought for next week. We are fortunate that we own Fabregas and Siggy, two of the most popular transfers by managers leading into GW2. Mata has been a popular seller in FPL this week, but we feel relaxed in keeping him in this week, on the assumption that LVG has spent the week laying into his side and demanding an improvement.

Calum Chambers is another to keep a close eye on as Mertesacker nears a return, but we have cover on the bench if necessary so will look forward to ride the Chambers train as long as possible.

So it’s an unchanged squad and an unchanged starting XI this week –

Captain
With Chelsea impressing at Burnley in GW1, it was a simple decision in handing Costa the armband this week as he makes his home league debut vs Leicester. A goal on his debut will have settled any nerves or doubts the striker had of adjusting to life in the Premier League and we are hoping he kicks on vs the Foxes. Should something unexpected happen Costa and he does’t play then our Vice-captain is Sigurdsson at home to Burnley as we feel both form and fixture favour him over the others such as Rooney or Mata.

    Struggling with defence..

    Looks like a 4pt hit to sort…
    Luis & Bartley
    10m to spend on 2 defenders…sounds easy….but I’m struggling..!
Could get away with no hit but don’t fancy O’Shea vs An Ass Kicked Man U …?

Against hits for defenders unless it’s absolutely necessary Bigpopz. For 10.0 you could go with Clyne and Caulker for example, or after the next couple of GWs get Lovren in and a 4.5. Loads of options out there, but I’d just do one of them this GW and one the next.

so…I have made a transfer to sort out Shaw already for Koscielny. I still have an issue at Luis and Mariappa…thoughts? Should I take a hit and fix that this week?

should i take a hit with a transfer from Luis to Clyne?

      • EBC says:

        No. Play Luis!

I’d take a hit to bring in Neil Taylor for Mariappa.

Then play Debuchy, Taylor and Luis at the back. Luis won’t be benched every week and even he is he’ll probably still do better than Ferdinand and Diakite (who also isn’t first choice).

is taylor worth a -4 hit for me this week?

I have Koscielny, Ferdinand, Diakité, luis and Mariappa….

Think I’m going to hold on to my FT and to help with GW 3 and 4. Don’t want to panic about Davies / Mata / Eriksen /Arnautovic yet and I have 0.5 in the bank in case I take a hit on value.

Have the inexplicable urge to sub Debuchy for Coloccini and if Davies doesn’t play (which wouldn’t surprise me at all, Debuchy would go straight back into the side.

Thoughts on transfer strategy / selection?
