Fantasy Football 247 FPL Team – GW2

Tips fantasy footballGW1 for the FF247 team resulted in a solid, but not spectacular 66pts. The highlights were certainly in the midfield where Ramsey, Fabregas and Sigurdsson all contributed double-figure returns, while two of our strikers, Rooney and Costa both scored – Rooney as captain doubled his tally to 14pts. There were a few disappointments also – United’s shocking home loss meant just 3pts combined from De Gea and Mata, while Chambers and Caulker, who we were hoping for clean sheets from, let us down by both conceding at home to Palace and Hull, respectively. Our third striker Jovetic brought home just 2pts and is a concern, especially with Aguero making a late impact as a goal scoring substitute. Fortunately, we weren’t left frustrated with points on the bench, with O’Shea and Ward scoring just a point each and Myhill and El Ahmadi not playing.

We have decided to hold our transfer for this week and run with what we have got for GW2, giving our underperforming players another chance to deliver. This gives us another week to study form and consistency of selection and of course two free transfers to look forward to next time. Jovetic we need to monitor, while we will also keenly keep an eye on Aguero when City host Liverpool on Monday evening. Our third striker is an interesting situation and if we decide to move early into Aguero, we will need to raise funds, but that is a thought for next week. We are fortunate that we own Fabregas and Siggy, two of the most popular transfers by managers leading into GW2. Mata has been a popular seller in FPL this week, but we feel relaxed in keeping him in this week, on the assumption that LVG has spent the week laying into his side and demanding an improvement.

Calum Chambers is another to keep a close eye on as Mertesacker nears a return, but we have cover on the bench if necessary so will look forward to ride the Chambers train as long as possible.

So it’s an unchanged squad and an unchanged starting XI this week –

Captain
With Chelsea impressing at Burnley in GW1, it was a simple decision in handing Costa the armband this week as he makes his home league debut vs Leicester. A goal on his debut will have settled any nerves or doubts the striker had of adjusting to life in the Premier League and we are hoping he kicks on vs the Foxes. Should something unexpected happen Costa and he does’t play then our Vice-captain is Sigurdsson at home to Burnley as we feel both form and fixture favour him over the others such as Rooney or Mata.

Ok folks anyone want to have a crack at this one please? Issues over Chambers and Young concerning me predominantly. Anyone you’d change and for whom?
Think I posted this the other night and then went to bed, I guess I should go see if I got any answers then as well!!

with Koz’s Achilles issue Chambers might be OK for another week. that being said, i dropped him yesterday for Chester.
i’d drop Young for JWP? i’d say Mutch but you have Barton already, who isn’t my cup of tea.

delete last comment as insanely unhelpful. sorry innit… its been a long day

Unsure if it’s the case with you but people focussing too much on pricedrops and -rises at it seems now. Even taking hits for it. Chester not a bad shout though I fear European matches could break Hull up like it did Swansea last year. Remember last season taking a punt on Williams (Swansea), was a waste of FT since he got injured on thursday and he didn’t play for weeks. ALso, Swansea weren’t as solid in the back last season compared to the season before the last. Sighs, a reason for me not to take a punt on Chester just yet. Was thinking about Clyne but as soon as I can get him he’s probably 5.1m and I can’t offord him. sad

not going overboard with team value right now, though i did pick up Sterling before his price rose as i see him in my team long-term and wanted to beat the price increase.
great point about Hull’s European campaign, hadn’t thought much about that. can’t see them making a long run in Europa League, right?

        • Wise words Raz, and not a monkey in sight. 😉 Well… apart from the grav.

I’d swap Duff with Moore on your bench and save the FT

      Init,

I think I answered you but I can’t remember what I said smile

Looking at it tonight I would give both players you mentioned this weekend and save the FT.

You have Duff as first cover so could give Chambers the benefit of the doubt about keeping his place. I’m not convince on Young but could be given a bit longer to prove his value in some decent fixtures (or give him this weekend at least).

I’d give Young another chance, and get rid of Chambers.

Evening Innit. I think both Young and Chambers will play, but I do see your concern. JWP is a great call for Young and Hull have options in this price range with kind fixtures also.
Despite that, I’d hold my ft till next gw3

Cheers guys, some good suggestions there. Always good to get second opinions as it always seems more blurred when it’s your own team for some reason?!

I think I’m on for JWP or sticking with what I got for a week.

Raz I’m in the don’t panic over price changes camp. I largely ignore them. I pick on form and fixtures and usually always do so on a Friday.

      • Raziel says:

If I recall correctly most guys on top of their games don’t even check the totalfpl site for pricechanges. Since it will interfere too much with their decision making and it will cost them points.

        • inittowinit says:

That’s generally my approach. I actually check it for transfers in to double check I’ve not overlooked a trend somewhere but that’s all really. It has changed a bit with the introduction of the Xmas WC as we all WC at the same point now more or less and the options an extra 5 or 7 mil give you at that stage are or can be significant but personally I’m not changing my approach.

I’d go with Chambers to Clyne. Sturridge is the much fitter player so going with Kun doesn’t make sense to me at the moment. Plus Pool have easier fixtures after GW3, City has to wait 2 or 3 more GW’s to get favorable fixtures. Anyway, you’re the only real City expert here. I’m guessing you know when Kun is fit or not? Which is never. 😛
