FF247 FPL teamWelcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 21 article. Last time we spoke to you we were celebrating Phillips and Defoe getting us 20 points in the past week – “It’s funny like that sometimes in FPL because we ended up having our hand forced a little to do two transfers we wouldn’t ordinarily have done had it not been for a combination of injuries, suspensions or obvious rotation. As it was it ended up being a thoroughly inspired bit of business! We sort of reluctantly brought in Phillips and Defoe with most of the transfer committee agreeing it was the right (and probably only) thing to do whilst at the same time shrugging and yawning at the prospect. Well bugger us, they only went and got another 20 points between them!”  For those with a good memory that was our intro last week. It stands up so well this week also that we thought we’d just use it again! Just replace the 20 points with a 22 though, and we are good to go! Overall we scored 77pts which leaves us at 31,953 in the rankings – a decent weekly jump from 64,717! Other notable contributions were clean sheets for Nyom and Pieters, two assists for Eriksen, goals for Alexis and Ibra and a brace of penalties for Defoe. Let’s see if the recent successes have calmed the committee or simply stoked the fires of desire for more…

Transfer for GW21 – Sold  & Bought – Nobody!
Now we know this doesn’t make for a very exciting article but sometimes that’s just the way it lands, deal with it! Actually a decision to do nothing is still a decision and has it’s merits just as much, and sometimes more, than a reckless but seemingly more exciting -8 or whatever. Some of our defence isn’t the best but yet it seems adequate enough this week, assuming they all play. It’s mainly just Pieters actually that is of concern, and maybe Holebas and his penchant for cards and his teams general penchant for conceding goals left, right and centre. A couple of our midfielders haven’t got the best fixtures ever on paper, but we like them long term, so there’s no point knee jerking on that only to wish we had them again next week. The rest looks ok. Let’s roll with it and enjoy fighting over where our two free transfers are used next week.

Scrap all that, we just bought Giroud for Costa!
Obviously with late Costa news emerging on Friday evening and having not used our transfer it was a fairly easy decision to draft in the delicious Frenchman given Arsenal’s next few fixtures. Welcome aboard Olivier!

Arsenal have scored 44 goals this season (the 2nd highest in the league). Swansea have conceded 45 (the most in the league). Arsenal have scored 23 of those away from home (the most in the league). Swansea have conceded 23 of theirs at home (the most in the league). Now if only we had Giroud….

  1. Morning gentlemen, currently on my WC. All set or would u make any changes?

    • Decent but id do Cech to Manonne,Vertonghan to Rose and Evans to Brunt if you can afford ?

      • I can afford it Brooky but do you not fancy Arsenal to keep a few clean sheets over the coming weeks?

        • Possibly but i prefer the assist and bp potential of Rose and Brunt who has been playing oop in midfield and taking some set pieces.

        • Wait for injury news regarding Brunt later mate.

        • I like Rose but as Cookie pointed out the other day, he is on 8 YC so risks a suspension before long

    • I can only assume either people are looking at their last 2 line-ups (both Cup games) and seeing him as starting and are being hoodwinked into thinking that means he’s got his place back or that they are simply using his price tag as leverage for other moves or probably a combo of both. He has played previous cup games in between Marshall playing all the league games. Then again it’s a new manager so who knows what he’ll decide.

      • He’s going up because he’s a 3.9m goalie Innit and many people try to get a budget keeper, doesn’t even have to play. They see he has some points, the most for that pricerange, so they pick him. Funny thing is, once he’s 4m again, people will start selling him again. HHAHA! 😉

        Unless he actually gets a starting position during EPL! I think Hull were actually doing better at the start of the season with him as goalie.

    Am I all set and good to go here? I do have 1 FT, but 0.0 ITB. I’m thinking hold fire and see what’s what. I’d love for Ake to break into the Chelsea team, but can’t see it, so that’ll probably need fixing soon.

    • He’s in a terrible price bracket for you Ake at 4.4 as the only nailed on options (outside of Boro who you’ve already got) play for Hull/Burnley/Sunderland which is all a bit meh, you’d maybe have to downgrade somewhere to get a decent option so banking that FT this GW looks like a good idea.

      • Cheers Andy. Yea replacing with nowt in the bank will be tough. You’re probably right about downgrading elsewhere, but not sure who I’d be willing to lose yet.

        You reckon I’ve got the starting 11 and cappo about right for this GW?

      • Chuck Kelly at Palace and Nyom at West Brom (when he gets clearance) into the 4.4m bracket too.But yeah save your transfer this week.

        • Cheers brooky. I do have an eye on Kelly. Surely big Sam will sort their defence out.

        • I wouldn’t go buying any Palace defenders in the next week or two as Sam has said that he will be bringing in new defenders.

    • I would hold on a week or two and see what happens with Ake, which also gives some time to see what happens with Fonte as if he stays out then Yoshida will likely get some game time and in in your price range.

      • Thanks Robbo. Holding fire certainly seems to be the best move at the moment. Yoshida will NOT be an option for me. I’m a Pompey fan 😉

        • I would literally rather finish bottom of every ML than do well with scum in my team. Not to mention the fact I’d probably be hospitalised the second anyone found out 😉

        • Rosco, I’m surprised to hear that. I thought Newcastle/Sunderland was similar. Where I’m from you wouldn’t even consider it. I’d definitely rather lose a game like fpl than sell myself like that.

    Can I have some opinions please:

    I have 2 FTs and thinking of the following moves:

    1 – Defoe and Phillips in (*Already have Anichebe as bench fodder)

    or

    2 – Alli and Crouch (*Already have Eriksen)

    Siggy and Carroll will be making way for both.

        • I’m really liking Girouds and Stans fixtures for the next few weeks tho Nishant laugh
          Also, planning to downgrade Haz in a couple of weeks so may switch back to 4-3-4 with Defoe in for Anichebe. So Stan could be my bench fooder then.

          Do you know if Giroud is on pens (it looks as tho he is on a Set Piece Takers)?
