Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 24
Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 24 article. Hmmmmmm. That probably sums everybody’s reaction when they looked at their score this week. We scored 36 for the record. Now usually when you log on and see 36 you expect to have plummeted some 10k places if not more. But to further sum the week up and put it bang in perspective we rose in the rankings. By 9 places! We now sit at 31,899 in the overall rankings. So good was the past week that our entire team managed two assists and one clean sheet between them. Walker got the clean sheet, Coleman and our captain Sanchez got the assists. Wow, what an exciting week! A story echoed everywhere, evidently. Anyway let’s put that one behind us all and hope some of the big guns can out to play again this week. Here are our transfer decisions and rationale for GW24 and our all important captain one…
Transfer for GW24 – Sold Giroud & Bought Carroll
We always considered Olivier to be a temporary fix. We don’t know why, he just has that feel about him. He goes on a run and then something always happens which leaves him a doubt in our minds. That sort of happened this week as he was hauled off early in a sort of scapegoat manner against Watford. Which leaves you wondering really especially with Walcott having returned with a hat-trick the week before. And then there’s the small matter of Chelsea this week. Plus he won’t be playing in GW26 for sure. Plus he’s a slight doubt for this one from a fitness point of view, possibly an even bigger one in Wenger’s mind! All that lead to us deciding to part company with him.
Onto his replacement then. Now we’d like to have been shopping at the more premium end of the market, of course. The likes of Kane, Costa and Lukaku. But we had a bank of exactly £0.0. Off to the bargain basement then! Carroll, Llorente and Benteke were the suggested choices. Llorente has Man City and Chelsea away in two of his next three games so we didn’t really fancy that one. It was a toss up between the last two. The fixtures are fairly even but we erred on the side of form as despite Benteke scoring the other night that was actually his first goal since GW15 and Big Andy has four since GW18. Tekkers may have previously had an edge with being on penalties but they may be taken from him now too given his propensity for missing them. It was a toss up and we could really have gone with either but we landed on Carroll anyway.
THE NEW TEAM IN FULL FOR GW 24
Our Captain is…
Talking of toss ups…!
As yours truly writes this I genuinely don’t know who our captain is going to be! As it stands the voting is level with Alli and Zlatan neck and neck. The deciding vote is mine!
Our team choices are generally sensible and thought through, our captain ones must be ok too given our rank. On the surface all is calm and collected. The following may give you a glimpse behind the curtain…
As Brendan would say “OKAY”… Pick the bones out of that!
Honestly, I’m still none the wiser!
Here are some stats on the teams involved in the decision –
Leicester are similar at home to what ‘Boro are away in terms of conceding. 13 v 12.
Man Utd have scored 16 away / Spurs have scored 25 at home.
Leicester have conceded 7 in their last 4 home games / ‘Boro have conceded 4 in their last 4 away.
Man Utd have scored 7 in their last 4 away games / Spurs have scored 11 in their last 4 at home.
Doesn’t really help does it?! I suggested at some point that we just toss a coin as I couldn’t split them, even on a gut feeling. That is literally what I am about to do!
Heads Alli, Tails Zlatan…
I’ve recorded this too, just in case 😉
It came down heads… ALLI IS OUR CAPTAIN!

Fixture Tracker – the next 6 games
If they are YELLOW in GW28 it means they definitely play that week.
Today I checked the great fpl discovery blog to check last year BGW .
Last season it was week 30 and there were only 5 games played. Spurs and Man City were involved. Overall avg score was 35 and top 5% was 54.
of course one season data is smallest sample possible but it made me think I will not go for more than 6-7 players from already confirmed 3 games. Anything more could damage team balance. Hopefully we will have upset or two in a cup and i will be able to have almost full 11.
I was also thinking about WC. At this moment I plan it for week 33. At that time we should be clear who and when will be playing their DGW. Initially I planned to WC in week 30 during international break but there are 3 GW inside one week at the beginning of April which will bring a lot of rotation and frustration. also be aware that after probable blank in week 28 City play Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea makes me very reluctant to invest heavily into City coverage.
another observation is that Bournemouth have absolutely horrible fixtures between week 25-27 and week 30-33
so caution required when building team for week 28
Although i wouldnt rip up your team to accommodate gw28 i think its still wise to aim for 9 or 10 players.Thing is a some of the teams that play in gw 28 have good fixtures up till then (West Brom,Everton) and beyond (Everton,Swansea, even maybe West Ham) so bringing players in from these teams with one or two from West Ham and maybe even Hull shouldnt compromise your team too much. Then gw28 you just bench the players you want to keep e.g Spurs assets Sanchez if you choose etc.
Thanks for the valid points.
I’m thinking about bringing
Siggy, Lanzini, maybe Lukaku. still hope for Spurs to crash out. I don’t think domestic cups are high on Spurs priority list.
Morning everyone!
Am I good to go? I do have 1 FT and £1.5m in the bank but I’m eager to keep hold of that with these blanks coming up. Unless I can be persuaded otherwise, of course!
Team looks great mate
I wonder if anyone would be able to persuade you in any transfer :smirk:
Only possible consideration can be Cholevas to Coolman
But Cholevas against Burnley has every chance of an assist
Burnley are poor away
Save i guess but i’d be very tempted to do Holebas to Coleman !!!
Guys am i good to go:
Randolph
Pva nyom baines
Zaha lallana sanchez erik
Kun(c) costa ibra
Subs jaku carrick chambers amat.
Cheers guys.
Looks spot on, man u man!
You are ready to run
Thanks guys. Best of luck.
You too
Sterling or YYT?
Sterling !
You will get him in defo won’t ya?
Sterling it is then
Hit that button now :biggun:
Just need to work out who’s going for him! Lallana or Antonio?
Fixture wise
Antonio
Lallana will score am telling you
Neither do Lallana to Siggy next week.
Nyom or Holebas to start!?
Cholevas
Cheers nishant!
Holebyom!
Or Nyobas!
Can’t differentiate them really. Maybe Holebas given burnley’s poor away goal scoring record edged it. Janmaat would be the deal there though he’s OOP , a defender playing as an attacking winger! Too bad it have to be for a hit for me , otherwise I’d get him.
I really need help with my team! What should I do with this lot? I have Jones red flagged, Giroud yellow flagged and I wanted to get rid of Lallana! Happy to take a hit if needed but could anyone offer some suggestions and who to swap for? Thanks!
Allen to Carrol of Swansea and Giroud to Lukaku.
I like those moves too
How much game time do you think Jesus will get at City? Is it worth bringing him in as my third forward?
Great player, uncertain which games he starts, champions league starts again soon so there will be rotation,no game in gw26 and possibly gw28.
Thanks Brooky! Perhaps I’ll go Lukaku and wait until after the blanks to see where Jesus is at!
Sound wise to me igy !
