Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 28
Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 28. Hmmmm, well the score was ok and I guess that’s all that matters! In financial terms it would be called a “low quality beat” as 54 of our 69 points came from three players – namely Sadio Mane’s goal and assist vs Arsenal, Erik Pieters’ unexpected two clean sheets and Sergio Aguero’s triple captain score of 27. We felt let down by Kun to be honest, it could have been so much better, especially in the Sunderland match. All in all it was ok and a 69 is always welcome. Sadly the other 8 idiots were a complete shambles – Sterling didn’t even bother turning up for the 2nd half of the DGW, Ibra started the ball rolling with a missed penalty and no-one else scored more than two points. We did see a small green arrow, and we mean small as we climbed 1,094 places to 51,460. Let’s move on from a double game-week to a blank game-week!
Our transfers this week are: Sold Sterling, Aguero and Ibrahimovic and bought Sigurdsson, Lukaku and Llorente
The cull has begun! The blank game-week has been attacked, an eight point hit has been taken. The transfers were surprisingly agreed very easily by the committee (well, two of them were at least!) The sale of the trio makes sense – they all blank this week, City’s next three fixtures are vs Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea while Ibra has a little rest coming up. Gylfi speaks for himself, he has scored or assisted in each of his last six and faces Hull, Bournemouth and Boro in his next three. Lukaku is of course also in great form, will be a popular captain choice this week and plays West Brom and Hull, both at home in GW28 and 29. Llorente was a slightly harder sale – is he worth another 4pt hit? The vote decided yes, the fixtures are there as per Siggy and he is also in good form – let’s just hope he can continue that form and justify his inclusion. It was actually the least convinced member of the committee who produced the stats to justify Llorente – Hull have the 5th worst record over the past six matches for conceding shots in the box, with Bournemouth seventh.
Our GW28 team in full
Our captain this week is: Romelu Lukaku
It was a close vote between Big Rom and Sadio Mane with Lukaku winning 3-2. Having been overtaken by Kane in the race for the Golden Boot, we hope that the Everton striker uses Kane’s blank week to reclaim the top spot and make it five home matches in a row in which he scores! Mane is our vice captain.

Is Kun to Andy C worth a hit? I plan on ditching Kun anyway. Carroll won’t last long, a couple of games at most. He may even go next week for Kane. Worth the punt or not?
It probably is against a makeshift Bournemouth defence
Yes. I really couldn’t split him and Llorente and did think that both would be ideal this week. I’d take the punt if I were you.
Probably, especially if you are going to Kane next week anyway
Team A or B?
Probably B, mainly as the midfield in A is too weak. I’m not sure Ozil is good value at 9.4 though.
Morning all
I have 6 players starting
Coleman/McAuley/Mané/Sigurdsson/Carroll/Lukaku
I have 2 doubtfull
Heaton/Phillips
I will not even count on Amat
I took a -4 already bringing Lukak & Sigurdsson
What you think?
1/Good to go
2/Take a -8 hit
strange my name was linked to my team but not anymore…
Whilst it might be a little light, you’ve got all the main men, so you don’t need to take more hits. I’d make sure anything else you do fits in with your plans.
Thanks banjo
Hello guys, what would you advise. 1ft and 0 itb. Read in one of the comments that taking a hit may not be necessary but I have a keeper problem. Also have my WC and all my chips and I’m under pressure as season is coming to an end. Will appreciate suggestions
Not sure on Heaton yet – pressers is at 1.45pm. Not sure I’d be too bothered either way, I have no keepers this week and took a -8 and ignored them completely. You could get Llorente for Kun or a Liverpool mid for Sane if that works out money wise. Or indeed both.
Apologies for reposting this but I’ve found it handy in making my own moves / decisions this week so thought I’d pop it on again –
I had actually started a bit of statistical analysis on the 4 fixtures this week but I didn’t think it warranted an article so I will just post my preliminary findings below… (all goals for or against are home or away, not in total)
Bournemouth vs West ham :
Bournemouth –
Goals For 21
Goals Against 21
W-D-L : 5-3-5
West Ham –
Goals For 21
Goals Against 22
W-D-L : 4-3-6
Conclusion
This is fairly even all round. Neither are particularly top of the class or indeed bottom in terms of scoring or conceding at home or away respectively. It’s about 1.7 goals per game scored and conceded by both. Something ranging from 1-1 to 2-2 would be about right then.
…………………………………….
Everton vs The Goal Machine Albion
Everton –
Goals For 27
Goals Against 10
W-D-L : 8-4-1
TGMA –
Goals For 12
Goals Against 17
W-D-L : 3-5-2
Conclusion
Everton have the 4th best record for home goals this season and the 2nd best on show this week. In contrast West Brom actually have the 6th best record for away goals conceded, which is the best on display this week. With Everton averaging more than 2 per game you’d think that they will score this week. It could be a low scoring affair though given West Brom’s resilience plus the fact that they have only scored 12 away themselves in 10 games. TGM will have got at least 8 of those, without checking
……………………………………
Hull vs Swansea
Hull –
Goals For 17
Goals Against 22
W-D-L : 4-4-5
Swansea –
Goals For 14
Goals Against 29
W-D-L : 3-1-9
Conclusion
Hull rank 16th for goals conceded at home which is the worst of the home teams this week. Likewise Swansea rank 18th overall in the same respect and are also the worst in that respect of the teams playing this week. These are both very different teams though now to the ones who were on display pre-Christmas so the stats are far less relevant here. It could go either way and should be a thrilling encounter.
…………………………………
Liverpool v Burnley
Liverpool –
Goals For 34
Goals Against 12
W-D-L : 9-3-1
Burnley –
Goals For 8
Goals Against 28
W-D-L : 0-2-11
Conclusion
This is pretty much one way traffic in theory. Klopp just has to convince his players that they are facing a top 4 side! Liverpool have scored the 2nd most at home overall and the most this week by a good margin, Burnley are notoriously bad away and have conceded 28 away – the 2nd worst this week, just 1 behind Swansea. They struggle scoring away as well – 8 is the 2nd worst overall and by far the worst this week.
Conclusion
3-1 to Burnley 😉
It’s worth reposting
guys looking some weeks ahead. Who are Liverpools 2 main centre backs? has klavan replaced lovren? or has that been to Lovrens injury?
Lovren has been injured but was on the bench against Arsenal. Klavan had an ok game against Arsenal but I’ll be surprised if Lovren doesn’t come back in to partner Matip.
is there not some contractual issues with him? was considering keeping an eye on klavan as 4th choice defender.
No, he’s expected to sign a new contract.
Lovren and Matip as Kop said. Their defensive record ain’t too bad when they play together but that has been rare this season
