Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 31
Cutting straight to the chase this week, as time is of the essence, we scored 50 points in GW30 which was 10 above the average and it saw us register yet another green arrow, which is now 10 of those in the last 13 weeks. It’s ‘slowly, slowly catchy monkey’ though it seems as we’ve only actually risen by 30,000 places in all that time! This week we jumped up 5k to 34,416 overall. We aren’t complaining of course, it all just feels a bit laborious! A bit like our team itself this week actually as there was nothing to get excited about individually, it was more of a collective effort with just the odd goal or assist, here or there. Valencia and Nyom shared a 0-0 which suited our clean sheet bank, Captain Hazard grabbed an assist, Mane and Carroll a goal apiece. And that was pretty much it. This week’s site team meeting was hasty and a bit heated as a result! One naughty schoolboy was even slapped on the wrist and sent away to check his homework as a result of insubordination and cheek. After that the adults continued and here’s what we decided on…
Our transfer this week is: Selling Sadio Mane and buying Alexis Sanchez
Ideally we didn’t want to be doing this ahead of ‘Bournemouth at home’, but such is FPL sometimes, best laid plans and all that… Sadio was unfortunately crocked in the derby but fortunately we had a healthy bank of £3.2mln which was probably always planned and destined to fund an Alexis move at some point in the next few weeks given his imminent DGW’s. We’ve simply brought that decision forward a bit.
West Ham are this weeks opponents and they haven’t won in their last 6, losing the last 4 straight. Away from home in their last 2 they’ve conceded 3 at Bournemouth and 2 at Hull. If Alexis is even slightly on form here he should be able to repay our faith in him.
The Team in full this week…
Our captain is: Alexis Sanchez
The new man has the armband for what we hope will be his 9th double-digit score of the season. The Chilean returned 23pts vs the Hammers in the reverse fixture in GW14 with a hatty and an assist. Same again please pal.

TEAM NEWS SO FAR IN CASE YOU HAVE MISSED ANYTHING…..
ARSENAL – Koscielny ruled out, has a scan tomorrow to determine nature of injury but it is thought to be serious and COULD be season sending. Mertsesacker could ‘possibly’ feature vs West Ham – ‘He’s available and physically he is ready’ (and may be required vs Andy Carroll, though match fitness has to be a concern). Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ramsey have fitness tests today but trained yesterday and are expected to be fine for tomorrow.
BOURNEMOUTH – Chief Cherry Eddie says (Pulis like) ‘we have a couple of injury concerns that I don’t want to go into ahead of the game.’ Andrew Surman is defo ruled out and could miss the rest of the season. Tyrone Mings remains suspended.
BURNLEY – Dyche reports no new injuries for the visit of Stoke. Marney is ‘coming along nicely’, Gudmundsson more or less back in full training.
CHELSEA – Conte says he doesn’t know if Victor Moses will be available and then gives the all too common line – ‘we have a couple of situations to check on.’
CRYSTAL PALACE – Defenders Scott Dann, James Tomkins and PvA are all missing and likely won’t return for the Arsenal match on Monday – Dann is the most serious and faces a few weeks out. Loic Remy returns to the squad.
EVERTON – Koeman will have the same squad available as per the weekend, but may look to freshen it up a bit. Schneiderlin, Lennon, Coleman, McCarthy & Funes Mori remain out – the manager describes Lukaku’s performance in the derby as ‘tired’ but the striker is expected to lead the attack once again.
HULL – Evandro Goebel has recovered from a calf strain and is in contention but defender Omar Elabdellaoui is likely to miss the next two matches with a back injury. Tom Huddlestone remains suspended.
LEICESTER – Wes Morgan and Papy Mendy remain out, Marc Albrighton returned to training yesterday after recovering from a 24hr bug.
LIVERPOOL – Klopp says it’s too early to give a proper diagnosis on Sadio Mane due to the swelling on the knee, though he is definitely ruled out of Wednesday’s match vs Bournemouth and the general consensus appears to think his absence will be a matter of weeks rather than days. Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson are also unavailable, though Klopp says Daniel Sturridge is ‘in team training and it’s good to have him back. Probably he can be in the squad.’
MAN CITY – Pep says Bacary Sagna will be missing for another 2-3 weeks, so Pablo Zabaleta will likely fill in at right back at Chelsea. The only other definite absentees are Ilkay Gündogan and Gabriel Jesus. Jesus is in the final stages of his recovery and was able to run on the training pitch yesterday for the first time – Pep is hopeful that the striker will return for the final few matches of the season, though a firm timeline is impossible to give right now.
MAN UTD – Ibrahimovic and Herrera return from suspension, while they are reports that Antonio Valencia may be given a rest after not being seen at the team hotel. This is unconfirmed. Luke Shaw was seen at the hotel, after reported clear the air talks with Mourinho. Paul Pogba has a chance of returning but Chris Smalling, Phile Jones and Juan Mata remain out.
MIDDLESBROUGH – George Friend and Calum Chambers are ‘running and progressing nicely but it’s too early to say when they’re available’ according to Boro caretaker boss Steve Agnew. Fabio is ruled out after suffering concussion at Swansea, while Gaston Ramirez and Rudy Gestede both have a chance to make the squad tomorrow.
SOUTHAMPTON – Gabbiadini again ruled out for the Saints – Sofiane Boufal is also a doubt. VVD & Austin also remain out, obviously.
STOKE – Hughes says, “we have a few bumps and bruises. Peter Crouch has a bang on his knee, Xherdan Shaqiri will train today but may not be fit for Tuesday. We are waiting on Geoff Cameron but he may well miss out.” Jack Butland continues to build up fitness.
SUNDERLAND – Jermain Defoe ‘didn’t train yesterday. I can’t give you any more of an update than that.” Thanks Ginge. Paddy McNair, Jan Kirchoff and Duncan Watmore all remain out and Stephen Pienaar is a doubt.
SWANSEA – Paul Clement says all of the squad that were available vs Boro are available vs Spurs. Llorente is ‘touch and go for the match – it will be tight, but there is a possibility (he can play)’. A place on the bench seems to be the best possible outcome with a return at the weekend more likely.
TOTTENHAM – Victor Wanyama is being assessed, Harry Winks faces further tests on his ankle. Harry Kane is ‘continuing individual work outdoors’ and Danny Rose ‘is also progressing with his rehab.’ Erik Lamela out for the season, Son may be recalled after coming off the bench to score at Burnley, while Kyle Walker should return.
WATFORD – Troy Deeney will likely be recalled, while Sebastian Prodl could return in place of the injured Younes Kaboul. Valon Behrami remains out while Christian Kabasele and Ben Watson are both back in light training but won’t be available to face the Baggies. Roberto Pereyra and Mauro Zarate remain sidelined.
WEST BROM – The usual ‘couple of knocks’ line from Pulis…… Matty Phillips is ‘getting closer’. Salomón Rondón could return up front.
WEST HAM – Cresswell to miss the next couple of games with a knock – Masuaku likely to replace Cresswell. Antonio is back, though Bilic is yet to decide if he will start or not, while Diafra Sakho may also make the bench. Reid, Obiang and Ogbonna all remain out.
COOKIE..thanks for the updates mate. will wait for the news on Mane..If he’s not fit to play. i’ll do my changes accordingly
Looks like mane is out.. Fingers crossed he can play..But I really doubt
five pressers left today:
HULL 12.30
LIVERPOOL 13.00
MIDDLESBROUGH 13.00
CHELSEA 13.15
MAN CITY 13.30
Good to go?dropped Mane to Eriksen. Will draft in Sanchez soon.
Looks good Neilos, I’d make Morrison your first sub just in case one of your front 7 doesn’t feature.
Cheers for the feedback as always Cookie. You all set?
No! I have Llorente to deal with! I may go for Origi or I may just let Alonso come on as sub. But then Valencia is reportedly not playing so Yoshi comes in. All a bit of a mess. Don’t want to hit for Negredo or Benteke and Gabbi isn’t fit. Will make a decision this afternoon after Klopp’s presser.
Definitely avoid Negredo. I’d say Origi will be worth a shout though. Hope we all rake in the points!!
Wouldn’t say to avoid Negredo.. Considering to give him armband 😉
Wouldn’t avoid Negredo.. Thinking of captaining him myself 😉
Why don’t u start king isntead of llorente?Liverpool defence is a bit shaky,so king could grab some points
Thanks for the aarticle
can u tell us why u didn’t think of orgi over Lorente?
Mahelmy,
Origi wasn’t even mentioned to be honest. The priority was to get Alexis in and if Llorente doesn’t make it then King can have a go at Liverpool.
