Fantasy Football 247 Site Team News Gameweek 35
All White (with an orange hue) on the night
Welcome to FF247 Site Team DGW35
DGW34 was a game week filled with high variance. Some teams reaped the rewards (with 219pts the highest recorded) and some teams suffered badly. We landed somewhere in the middle. Despite 95pts being some 19pts over the weekly average (76pts) we still suffered our 4th red arrow on the bounce.
Managers playing the Free Hit chip were the ultimate winners, and whilst that success still hinged on which players they chose, for many, players like Mateta, White and Odegarad delivered huge double-digit scores that saw seismic shifts across mini-leagues and overall rankings. Throw in injuries to key single-game week players like Palmer and Haaland and things just seemed to go the way of those managers who ditched them in favour of more risky picks with the upside of 2 fixtures.
Our transfers of Henderson and Eze looked good on paper, Pickford would have been the better pick of the keepers but who would have predicted a double-clean sheet when their double included the visit of Liverpool?
Our double Arsenal clean sheet was nice, but when you have Ben White matching their combined scores on his own its easy to feel deflated. We were lucky to get Zabarnyi’s 7pts off the bench, Konsa’s 2pts, not so much.
In the end, our rank drop from 4119 to 8075 could have been worse. Prior to the Brighton v Man City game, we were down to 18k. Thankfully Foden turned up with a 16-pointer and that saved our blushes and bumped us back into the top 10k.
Our Gameweek 34 Result
We made our moves before seeing how much we had in the bank… we did have 1 free transfer to use ahead of DGW35. Let’s go see what was decided….
Our DGW35 Transfer(s)
We’d always pencilled in our WC for DGW35 and so it shall be.
We’re going for an all-in approach to the doubles with Gabriel our only single-game week 37 player to retain his place. All our moves were put to the vote and the final 15 are those whose names you now see in our squad.
I’ll not get into every individual spot; most picks speak for themselves. It’s a pretty template WC and we’re happy as ever to go with the crowd.
It’s felt a lot less painful selling the likes of Saka and Salah given their recent returns. Son and Bruno are the replacements of the two, given that Bruno has better form than both, and throw in the fact that between them, our new boys have 11 fixtures between them vs 8 for the departing duo and we’re betting on quantity regardless of quality.
It was painful to quit on our double-Arsenal defence, but again, budget and fixture volume won out in the end. There were other notable debates, do we keep Watkins or go for Jackson? In the end, quantity most definitely won over quality in that particular debate!
With no concrete news on Haaland we’ve decided to keep him and simply stick him on our bench, hopefully, that one doesn’t come to haunt us! Palmer sounds like he’ll be well enough to play and he takes the armband.
Hopefully, DGW35 and 37 are as fortuitous for us as DGW34 was for others. Come what may, we’ve had a great season and whatever happens from here through to GW38 is as always largely out of our control.
Good luck this game week, may your arrows be green!

PREDICTED LINE-UPS
Back by popular demand! Well, sort of… Drafthound have changed their line-up approach this season and what it means for us is that we are no longer able to display a live feed of it on here due to some technical difficulties. That said, what they have done looks great and is still only a click away so if you want to access those they are HERE

Should I bench Haaland and play Muniz?

Yep, keeping him. After his absence he could be eager to notch a brace, even off the bench.
