A good (game) week to have a bad week

Welcome to FF247 Site Team GW6

We came out of the international break with high expectations for our team. It didn’t last long. GW6 was a rollercoaster of emotions (mainly bad ones) for many FPL managers and we were no different.

In our defence, Matt Turner and Amari’i Bell might as well have stayed at home, contributing just 2pts each. Meanwhile, Ben Chilwell decided to make the aforementioned duo’s 2pts look like a mega-haul with a start from the bench, a yellow card and a not-so-grand total of 0pts – thanks Ben.

In our midfield, it was starting to look like our team were members of some sort of secret club as Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, and Bryan Mbuemo all chipped in with what was now looking like a customary 2pts. We don’t like your club lads. James Maddison and Bruno Fernandes couldn’t even muster the 2pt entry fee, 1pt a piece left them standing outside in the rain, wondering what cool shit they were missing inside. I can answer that one, nowt.

Earling Haaland came to the rescue with a whopping 12pts as our captain. We are forever grateful for his goal-scoring prowess. No really, we are. Ollie Watkins chipped in with his customary 5pts with another assist, but the poor guy still can’t seem to score, something about falling into a barrel and sucking his thumb comes to mind. I’ll let you fill in the blanks there.

To top it all off, Sven Bottom racked up 9pts sitting last on our bench – “I could have saved your week” he cried. We know Sven, we’re sorry mate.

All in all, our team managed a meagre 35pts, a disappointing 9pts below the weekly average (44pts). Our rank plummeted from 104,106 down to 385,023a dreaded red arrow our punishment for daring to dream. It’s safe to say that GW6 was less of a wild ride and more of a gentle stroll down mediocre alley. We’ll be back, you can’t break us that easily. Sob.

Our Gameweek 5 Result

We have £1m in the bank and 2 free transfers to use ahead of GW6. Let’s go see what was decided….

Our GW6 Transfer(s)

We’ve always been a team that likes to play it safe and we’re not ones to jump on a bandwagon just because everyone else is. So, even if Alvarez is picking up points for fun – we prefer to dance to our own tune. For the record I wanted him, just saying.

So, after careful consideration, in light of our dismal 4pt defensive return in GW5, we’ve decided to reinforce our backline. We’ve had enough of Ben Chilwell so he leaves the team with his tail firmly between his legs. I’m perhaps being a bit harsh there. In truth we wanted to bring in Trippier and poor old Chilly is merely our cash cow. Sorry Ben I’m sure we’ll have you back at some point.

So, we’re hoping that Newcastle start to match the promise of their underlying xGC (expected goals conceded) and build on their GW5 clean sheet against Brentford. Trippier joins teammate Sven Botman, he makes our first 11 because we learned not to bench the big Dutchman the hard way last week.

And as for the captaincy, do we really need to justify it? Earling Haaland takes the armband once more, no need to overthink it. Here’s to another week of FPL action, where we’ll be hoping that our usual measured approach will serve us well. 🚀⚽️ #FPLMastersOfRiskManagement

To confirm then we have SOLD Chilwell and BOUGHT Trippier

Captain – Haaland

PREDICTED LINE-UPS

Back by popular demand! Well, sort of… Drafthound have changed their line-up approach this season and what it means for us is that we are no longer able to display a live feed of it on here due to some technical difficulties. That said, what they have done looks great and is still only a click away so if you want to access those they are HERE

Did consider Watkins->Alvarez and maybe ditch Gabriel or Chilwell to a Spurs defender, or maybe Botman.
    Others around me have Alvarez.
Worth rolling the FT and sticking with Watkins for 1 more week – will Alvarez play many mins at the weekend (who knows with Peprotation!)
Chilwell and Gabriel arent filling me with confidence either, neither is Pickford.
    Thoughts please.

Evening all! I’ve got 2FTs with 0.1 to spend. Any glaringly obvious things that need changing? As always when I got Sterling/Maddison/Chilwell in my team, they all stopped picking up points! So whoever leaves will score this weekend!

Nice looking team. Chilwell or Sterling look like options to cull but then you’d probably want them for the next 2 GWs. Likewise Bruno and Reguilōn.

Seems a shame to lose a FT though

    Hi all

    Which is the better move.

    A. Chilwell to Trippier.
    B. Bell to Botman.
    C. Son to Foden.

Does this set up look ok?

Is Stones 100% out? Fully expecting Chilwell to come in. Also have a nagging feeling that Jackson will score, but have said that for 5 weeks now
