Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 21 2017/18
Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 21. I’m not sure why I’m bothering to write this gameweek’s Captain Picks article. There’s only one candidate who’s really worth considering. I won’t name him but his form’s just been insane. Saturday 23rd December: hat-trick. Tuesday 26th December: hat-trick. It’d likely be rather embarrassing for me to back against another one. He’s been transferred in by over 120,000 since. And rising. Still, if you’re one who follows actual fixtures over form, here are 5 alternative and vaguely available candidates for your team’s armband…
Alvaro Morata vs Stoke (H)
My captain. I wish anyway, if I actually owned him. Stoke have already conceded 41 goals and 3+ against each of the following: West Ham, Spurs, Liverpool, Man City and, of slightly more importance here, Chelsea themselves. That match was a 0-4 away win in which Alvaro scored his first Premier League hat-trick. I’d just like to add that Stoke have the same number of Premier League titles as three teams in the above list.
I must warn you, though, that Chelsea have only served up 14 goals at home, yielding an average of just 1.4 goals per match, a definite cause for concern. I’m doubting myself now. Why do I still back this? Morata’s had a hand in over 50% of those goals.
Why not back the tanned Belgian skinhead instead? I might. He rarely needs more than a goal — perhaps just a sneaky penalty — to secure all 3 BPs in a match. His form is lacking, sadly, so the glossy Spaniard gets my approval. I also write about more than enough midgets in my spare time already…
Form: 4
Fixture: 8
Explosiveness: 7
Mohamed Salah vs Leicester (H)
My captain. I think, anyway, if I’m not swayed by Leicester’s unpredictability. Salah’s got it really easy now: the pain of blanking at home isn’t one he’s too familiar with, having only done so in 2 of the 9 home matches that he’s been a starter in, but he can just knock back some Tramadol if playing with Mignolet is causing him too much discomfort.
I don’t need to say much else here. Midfielders who rack up 15 goals and 7 assists in just over half a season don’t come around very often. Sanchez tallied 24 goals and 11 assists last season, playing over twice as many minutes as Salah so far, which was enough to effortlessly make him the top FPL player. Salah would almost surpass Fellaini’s all-time record if he keeps up his absurd form.
Firmino’s a great shout as well. He’s been involved in 2 goals per match in each of the 3 most recent gameweeks, remarkably, and is the only transvestite prostitute to ever do so.
Form: 8
Fixture: 7
Explosiveness: 8
Richarlison de Andrade vs Swansea (H)
This one’s quite hard to justify, but I feel anyone playing Swansea should be given a chance, or at least mentioned on here. Leon Britton and his clowns have conceded 13 goals in their 4 most recent matches. Richarlison hasn’t exactly been in form lately but, as the main striker in Harvey Price’s absence, he’ll expect plenty of opportunities to return to his October status of FPL gold; you don’t need a fancy whisk to beat shit.
Form: 3
Fixture: 9
Explosiveness: 6
Zlatan Ibrahimovic vs Southampton (H)
I won’t deny it. This one’s rather pointless — almost nobody owns him — but perhaps I can tempt in some investment. He scored a brace in this exact fixture, a 2-0 win, and he’s played for… 102 minutes?! Ok, sorry, I can’t get away with this. How about Lingard instead? On the assumption he reclaims his place in the starting XI and you’re weird, you might back Jesse adding to the 6 goals and 2 assists in his 6 most recent matches, who’s currently the most in-form FPL player. I’m not even going to give Lukaku the honour of a mention here! Cue his first brace since the opening day.
Form: 2
Fixture: 7
Explosiveness: 6
Leroy De Sterling vs Crystal Palace (A)
Being suddenly ordered to “take your pick from these three” sounds great, doesn’t it, but it’s not a nice choice in this case. Even though Jesus has been almost neglected by Pep recently, with these Christmas fixtures ~3 days apart each, there’s no knowing if Aguero plays. Midfield representation feels wisest. Likelihood of starting says Kevin De Bruyne and form says Sterling. Palace are unbeaten in 6 home matches but Man City won’t care.
Form: 9
Fixture: 7
Explosiveness: 8
Good luck, everyone, we’re probably going to need it.

Jamie – who are you giving the armband too today.
Morata.
Oh Jamie – you give me new doubts. I had him but changed to Salah ( I was concerned about his game time) but Chelsea have performed so badly with good fixtures. two weeks ago Morata was nailed for me!
Jamie – who are you giving the armband to today.
Hey Colonial,
I know we are in the same time zone. Hope the weather in Thailand is improving? How is your team looking? Who will you be selecting?
ThanksLep – Yers weather in Thailand has been more rain and less heat – so good. Now early morning dog walk 5.45am 24c so it is warm coats etc etc.
Team is poor this year as got cought uop in the defence best bet etc but now improving. They say its the long haul. Now have changed D Silva to Pogba and Salah as captain although I have Morata and Hazard. So hoping to get my act together in 2018!! Good luck to you all
Good luck to you too
Good morning everybody,
Pretty happy with my team, had two fantastic game weeks thanks to Kane and managed to climb 600.000 places. So now my original plan was Vardy – > DCL this week and De Gea + Groß – > Lloris + Alli/Eriksen. But don`the know if it’s worth to lose De Gea. Other suggestions? Have 2Ft and nothing else in bank.
Spurs defence is nothing like last year so even though Lloris is a good GK he is unlikely to get as many CS as De Gea.
A lot depends on how many players you want for the DGW.
How wedded to Maguire are you? Maybe considering selling him for Matsuaku and then next week could you afford Richarlison to Arnautovic? Or next week you could see Vardy and Gross and get a Spurs Mid like Son or Alli.
I like the sound of this plan Magpies. ^^
2FT and 1.6 in the bank
What transfers should I go for?
Only transfer I can think of is Elliot to Adrian or should I go for Kane to Morata?
Who would you like to have for the next GW?
For example, if you are looking for Spurs or West Ham mid to join Kane and Ogbonna then you have to fund that. If you do Elliot to Adrian will you still be able to do that next week?
I probably would not sell Kane with your team.
Agree with Leprechaun here, you don’t overly need Morata given the rest of your team. I’d simply do the Adrian one.
Good Morning guys,
1ft & 1.1m itb…plan to carry this to next DGW.
For this GW21, the team is as follow.
Been contemplating to captain Salah & Sterling.
Any comments are welcomed.
Seems to be a good plan Broncos although I wonder of you would consider Deloitte over one of your “away playing” defenders?
If not of
Hi Leprechaun,
You mean Depoitre over Mee?
I’d go Depoitre over Dunk I think.
Or even Duffy….
Yeah Duff or Dunky
0 FT, 0.4m itb. What tp do. Kiko not playing.Mariappa might not and may be many others might as well be benched. Should I take a hit and sort something here?
What was your move already Constantine?
Initial reaction was to try your luck and go with what you have without further moves.
Hey GP. Done Sane to Sterling. It has cost me huge not owning Sterling and Firmino
Well that’s a fair move i think.
I’d leave anything else this week I think.
I agree with GP. Leave as is for now and then if needed you could take a hit for the next GW.
