Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 32
Welcome to Captain Picks Gameweek 32, (or the Interview with Dr. Hannibal Lecter)…
You are probably all wondering why a cannibalistic serial killer was asked to share his thoughts with the general public instead of doing the same with an FBI profiler.
Let me elaborate, so you can get a better idea of how this (so called) cooperation actually happened.
“The courts found me insane.
Thus, I was spared prison and sent to the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane.”
Once a brilliant psychiatrist, now imprisoned and diagnosed with a Antisocial Psychopathy Disorder,
a condition characterized with impulsive or violent behaviour.
Nevertheless, the FBI’s FPL247 academy believed that I may have insight into a case (FPL case to be more precise).
Therefore, a top student at the FBI’s FPL247 academy (goes by the name of Init) wanted to interview me.
And agent Init believed that he may be just the bait to draw me out.
How it all happened:
-A late night call involving the agent and the Doctor –
Agent Init:
Hello Doc.
Hope you are not too busy (he laughs at fear, afraid of nothing).
I will give you an offer you can’t refuse!
HL:
Hello agent Init.
The tragedy is not to die, but to be wasted.
Let me remind you agent Init that there’s a fine line between Genius & Insanity.
Believe me, you don’t want Hannibal Lecter inside your head.” – I said.
Agent Init:
Doc – why don’t you look at yourself and just write down what you see?
It’s just a few DGW Captain Tips, nothing to it.
Or maybe you’re afraid to?!
HL:
Remarkable boy.
I do admire your courage.
But, be careful agent Init -> A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.
Quid pro quo.
Quid pro quo, agent Init.
I’ve been in this room for eight years now.
I know they will never ever let me out while I’m alive. What I want is a view!!”
Agent Init: “All good things to those who wait, Doc.”
Do right and you’ll live through this – he said.
HL: People don’t always say what they’re thinking…
Agent Init: No is NOT an option, Doc!
HL:
Okey-dokey – here we go.
I’m sure we’ll have a lot of fun 😉 !!
Welcome to Captain Picks Gameweek 32.
Also known as DGW32.
The moment we’ve been waiting for.
All the DGW’s have been officially confirmed!
And DGW32 looks like the biggest and probably the best DGW of the season (on paper at least).
Init provided us with a perfectly clear and concise masterpiece on all the DGW fixtures,
so today we will focus only on the Captains picks for DGW32.
In short:
– Man City (seems like they) have the best double – playing FUL(A) & CAR(H) – (2 of the bottom 3).
– Chelsea (on paper at least) – has the 2nd best DGW with CAR(A) & BHA(H).
– Man Utd is next with WAT(H) & WOL(A) -> both teams with their mind already on the FA Cup semi-finals.
– Spurs play LIV(A) and then CRY(H) in their new stadium.
Sergio Aguero
Most of you have already gone Sterling, but bare with me please.
Kun will be fresh and fully rested for the DGW, as he hasn’t gone away for international duty.
And with the title race going to the wire, he is expected to start the majority of games.
With 18 goals and 9 assists by his name, he sits in joint 6th place in OR with 165pts.
He’s managed to hit double figures 4 times this season.
Scored back-to-back home hat-tricks in FEB and made many people cry.
His 1st game in this DGW will be against FUL(A) & statistically the worst defence in the league.
Last time he played FUL, he ended up with 2 assists, having spent only 53mins on the pitch, in a game that ended 3:0.
Next up is CAR(H) – last time City played CAR he chipped in with 1 goal and was on the pitch 60mins, with the game ending 0:5.
It would take a brave man to look past the Argentinian this DGW, especially when his biggest Cpt rival played 180mins for England.
A fresh & fully rested Kun surely has to be amongst the best Cpt pick for this week, no?!
p.s. In case you decide to go in another direction and he scores a hatty or two, you might wanna look up “Don’t cry for me Argentina”, pour yourself a double Whiskey and start crying! Again.
Raheem Sterling
As many have said this season – > this guy is in title-winning form!
He sits in 2nd place in the OR with 198pts by his name.
Many would agree that he has been very underrated as a player, especially this season.
A PL Player of the Year contender. A global superstar-some would say.
At about this time in 2012, Raheem Sterling made his PL debut for Liverpool aged just 17.
Since then he made 357 professional appearances with 93 goals and 88 assists. (the stats from the last 2 ENG’s international games were not factored in).
He bagged a hat-trick against the Czech Rep followed by a goal & an assist against Montenegro last night.
So we can say without any doubt – that this man is in an excellent form.
Or as Harry Maguire would say : “He’s scoring and creating goals, he’s a nightmare to play against”.
Many have already pointed out that currently he is (probably) England’s best player.
I mean, just look at his stats since the start of last season:
Games: 86
Goals: 42
Assists: 33
The man is on fire!
Since the start of last season Raheem Sterling has scored 47 goals for club and country.
Before then, he had 46 in his whole career. (again the last games were not factored in.)
That’s some pretty impressive stats!
This season alone, he managed to hit double figures 8 times (against NEW/BHA/SOU/WHU/HUD/ARS/CHE/WAT).
Last time he faced FUL he scored 1 goal and played 73mins.
And vs CAR he had 1 assist and he played the full 90mins.
With his 15 goals and 13 assists he averages 7.3ppg this season.
He is the man in form and is probably the best candidate from the masses for the Cpt’s armband this week.
Eden Hazard
4th in the OR with 184pts.
Haz is having another impressive season but as he himself would point out: “Mo Salah is one of my good friends and he’s doing something incredible. I try to look at this player and try to reach that level”.
His mind is probably focused on other things, as he has denied reports that he has agreed a lucrative five-year deal with Real, making him Real Madrid C.F.’s highest paid player.
He was involved in the internationals as he marked his 100th appereance for Belgium scoring his 30th goal for them in the process.
Although he’s only managed to score 3 goals in his last 10 matches, he is already on 13 goals and 11 assists.
He’s hit 8 double figures this season.
Last time he played CAR(H) – 3 goals scored & 20pts / played 83mins.
And against BHA(A) – 1 goal + 1 assist & 13pts / played 82mins.
His ppg avg is 6.3pts.
Che has the 2nd best schedule (on paper) so you may not Cpt him, but not having him in your DGW team can really hurt you.
Paul Pogba
Since Ole’s appointment, no player has produced more FPL points than Pogba.
With 8 goals and 7 assists in this period, Pog-boom is already on 11 goals and 10 assists this season.
His ppg avg is 5.6pts and we can be sure he would be involved in both matches.
He’s hit double figures on 5 occasions this season.
Last time he played vs WAT(A) – he scored a measly 2pts but played the full 90mins.
Against WOL(H) – he contributed with 1 assist, playing the full 90mins in a match that ended 1:1.
Why is he a good Cpt candidate, I hear you ask?
Well, UTD will play against 2 Cup oriented teams, with Wolves being just a few days before their FA cup semi-final.
Not really hard to predict these teams will have their minds on the Cup games and this can be UTD’s chance to go AOA.
The International break brought us a few late withdrawals & injuries and with Rashford being one of those,
maybe Pogba can get the attention he desperately wants as a few may consider him as their Capo for this DGW.
(Last but not least) – ‘Arry Kane
If you are to choose a Spurs player this week it surely has to be ‘Arry, no?
Yes, he was involved in pretty much the full 180 mins over the International break and yes Spurs are doing awful lately,
but we can’t write him off, can you?
Spurs have scored only 3 goals in their last 4games, but all 3 came from ‘Arry.
He currently holds the 9th place in the OR with 156pts by his name.
He has 17 goals and 6 assists this season, averaging 6pts per game.
He’s hit double figures on 5 occasions, although last time they played LIV he did nothing and the time they played CRY he chipped in with an assist.
Tot’s PL record against LIV is not the best one; W8, L14, D9
However, because of his price mostly, many will opt to have a more balanced team over having Harry in the same,
so he could turn out to be quite the differential this DGW.
Especially if you factor in the New Stadium (and all that) effect, Harry deffo cannot be written off as a Cpt choice.
Bonus Tips:
Mo Salah or No Salah? It’s up to you!
Everybody Loves Mo Salah, right?
I mean the guy flew to Egypt over the Internationals (having not being summoned) just to write the 4 sacred letters (YNWA) in the sand!!
He is currently the most expensive player in the game and he doesn’t have a DGW, so many have already swapped him out for Hazard.
However, let’s not forget the Egyptian king is 1st in overall pts scored with 205pts by his name.
He’s scored 17 goals this season combined with 9 assists, but has only 1 goal in 8gw’s; has no Dgw and plays Spurs in 32.
His ppg is 6.6pts this season.
Mo played the last 8 games on the right wing, which (strangely) coincides with his goal drought.
His position had an affect on the quality of his shots, but not on the quantity.
He’s hit double figures 7 times this season, but scored only 2pts last time they played TOT.
Has he been unlucky or was he over-performing up until now – is up to you to decide 😉 !!
Sadio Mane
Is this Mane’s best season or is he just getting started?
Or maybe his form exploded once he heard Zidane was interested in him?
Sadio is without any doubt the in-form man right now.
I mean he is single-handedly keeping LIV in the title race.
He is currently 3rd in the OR with 186pts.
17 goals scored in PL this season combined with 3 assists, with 9 goals in 9 games for the Reds.
He’s hit double figures 7 times this season, but he managed only 2pts against TOT last time they played.
His Avg pts per game ratio is 6.6pts.
Yes, he plays TOT and yes he has no DGW.
But if you are to keep 1 player from LIV, having his price vs form in mind, it surely has to be Sadio, no?
Alright Ladies and Gents – you made it to the end of the interview.
Or at least I hope so 😉
I do wish we could chat longer, but I’m having an old friend for dinner 😉 !
Yours Sincerely
HL

Welcome to our Fantasy Football leagues section.
The League Codes for FF247 for the 2018/19 season are as follows –
Hey Doc that was a fine debut article. Congratulations and welcome.
Loved the intro!
Those Norway / Sweden and Switzerland / Denmark matches were absolutely bonkers in the last ten or fifteen minutes!
Hold up, I sat down for supper and Norway were 2 up & Swisses were 3 up!!
Just so you know I’m rooting for Serbia, Scotland, and Norway in these Euro Qualifiers!!!! 😉
Thanks for putting that together, doc. A good read and I’m hopeful I won’t be asked again this season. I’ll pretend I’m in hiding from you.
I enjoyed Brian Cox’s largely forgotten portrayal of yourself in Manhunter. The one that got away.
You’re scheduled for next week! Although I rather suspect you know this, just thought I’d mention it just in case……….
No, I’d forgotten. Or not noticed. Damn. OK.
Fortunately GW32 goes on for ever.
Normal article schedule next week, beginning with Fixtures on Monday, Capos Tuesday etc. I am being serious btw, just to clarify
Morning
Which one do you prefer?
Mitro,
I wouldn’t be going without Hazard this week mate, personally.
Morning
Not a lot in it. Team two seems slightly more secure: in team 1, Shaw is close to a suspension; Silva may or may not be rotated; Jiminez may or may not get 180ish minutes; not having Hazard isn’t without its (considerable) risks.
Second one for me
The thought of having Kane over my rivals was my thinking on my current FH team!
It looks like I’m goinb with the second one 😉
Mitro, you must go with what you want & feel, not what we say!
With no Hazard you’ve ended up in a Water Hazard….
Team 2 for me. Can you downgrade your bench and upgrade elsewhere?
Morning all.
Still have wc tc and bb
Is this worth a -8?
Which option?
A: Salah to Hazard, Vardy to Batshuayi and Rashford to Aguero
B: Salah to hazard, Vardy to Aguero and Kolasinac to dunk.
Vardy’s arguably one of the main SGW draws this week. Not a bad one to have in the locker. But anyhow.
I’d keep the players in situ, so no need to move Rashford on.
Aguero makes a lot of sense so B for me; is Schlupp within budget instead of Dunk?
Yeh can afford Schlupp but only if get rid of Vardy instead of Rashford
With no free hit don’t think you should be removing Vardy.
Plus you’ll want Vardy back for Huddersfield next week while Kun doesn’t have a PL match.
Morning all!
Can’t get Jesus, Kun & Higuain as a front three out of my mental wishlist!
But it means a crappy 4 man defence – though I have Chelsea & United coverage plus 2 Palace at home to Hudds…..
I see no love for Jesus anywhere but with no cash mini leagues to play in and only really concerned with rank i’m really only playing for enjoyment this season.
Though there is some (Cookie) method in my madness – I don’t think Kun is nailed on for 2 starts (most disagree) but with Pep saying he will use his whole squad during this hectic fixture period, I’m confident (hopeful) that Jesus starts home to Cardiff and comes off the bench at Fulham.
Could be carnage, could be disaster, but what the hell – better to want goals (in 2 expected goal fests) than dreading a defender conceding surely?! SURELY?!
After all, City have conceded at home to Watford, Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Newcastle & Southampton already this season…..
Anyway here goes. Its not people’s cup of tea, but the ceiling is high…… I hope!
Could be genius as well
I said a couple of days ago here that with those City fixtures I do prefer triple City attack instead of a defender, so you’ve got that going for you! At the time I was thinking D. Silva as the third attacker, and I guess Jesus is similar to him, if he starts one game he can be dangerous, certainly worth the risk I think! If City had a defender with clear attacking threat then I’d go for that defender but I’m struggling to find such an attacking City defender nailed for both games to be honest!
P.S. I just don’t like Duffy one bit
Completely agree with City Zed – with Stones and Kompany back fit and Mendy training at least the options for Pep are great. There will be rotation we know that.
Ederson’s ceiling is somewhat limited to probably 12pts, assuming they keep 2 clean sheets.
Which defender would one go for with the risk of rotation?
At least with Jesus and Silva there is the likelihood of playing part of both games in fixtures that scream goal fests to the most free scoring team in the division.
I guess its not the play for the more conservative player.
Might not be for the more conservative player but certainly is as good approach as any to this DGW and could pay dividends hugely, surely a great tactic for chasers in MLs like myself (yet I’m not decided yet which route I go)!
