Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 12
Well, not exactly what we were looking for in game-week 11. We scored 53 points which was 3 points below the average. Our rank for the week was over 2 million and after those numbers there was no real doubt that we would see a red arrow. We proceeded to drop 124,910 spots in the overall from 483,140 to our new rank of 608,050. The tough season continues, but there is still plenty of time to climb in the overall to a respectable position. Onto a quick rundown of the week that was before we discuss our plans for the week ahead.
In goal we had Boaz Myhill who was probably tired of us looking at him with our puppy eyes, just begging for a clean sheet. So naturally he decided to let in one or three. One point from our shot stopper this GW. If the upcoming difficulty of his fixtures are any indication we should see a lot of one pointers over the coming weeks.
In defence we had the ever consistent Morgan who once again delivered his customary returns with a one pointer. Good to know that we can count on him to never keep a clean sheet when we play him. It is not that we take pride in being ignorant we just choose to embrace the delusion in owning a Leicester defender. Speaking of defenders producing little to nothing, enter Kolarov. With the clean sheet gone his chance came to redeem himself with a penalty… ARRRGHHH! Just about summed up our season so far that one. Luckily our new transfer brought us some joy, as van Dijk was able to grab a clean sheet. Now that’s money well spent, for now.
Our midfield was the Mahrez show after he grabbed a brace and the 3 bonus points for an outstanding 15 points. However his 55% ownership means that he also did that for just about all relevant teams. So with Payet, Sanchez and KDB only combining for 10 points it wasn’t happy days in the FF247 offices.
For those following along, you will have noticed that we did a small pros and cons on 4 forwards last week in our transfer section of this article. We proceeded to highlight why or why not we thought Kane, Giroud, Lukaku and Bony could turn out to be good or possibly a bad transfer. Naturally we selected Gomis to move out and we bought his non goal scoring cousin Bony, such a smooth transition that one. So that’s right, we managed to pick the only one who didn’t score at the very least a goal. FFS!!!! One time…one time, it be cool if we catch a break. Oh well, at least we still had Pele (Vardy) and Pelle to console us a bit with a goal each. Now onto our transfer plans, where I am sure we will make another brilliant decision and ruin some poor footballers good form.

Transfer(s) for GW12 – None!
We don’t often fall out. Well at least not Saturday to Thursday anyway… Friday seems to be the tipping point for some unknown reason. Well, we say unknown…
The only real suggestion this week was whether to transfer Myhill out (good idea, given his fixtures) and bring in DDG (good idea, given his fixtures) or to save the transfer and spurn the inevitable 4+ point gain. The vote went in favour of saving the FT with a view to having two FT’s after the international break.
It was not a vote well received in some quarters and let’s just say that some prams were without dummys for a while on Friday! Either way that was the decision reached but investigations have begun and let’s just say that vote rigging is a crime punishable by a 26 week ban…

Team Selection
Ten of the eleven need no explanation this week. As for the 11th – Naughton vs Morgan, we can’t really offer any viable argument as to why we would field either! We had to pick one and went for Naughton. All four teams involved in the decision this week have comparable stats in terms in terms of goals for and against given their respective home and away status. Purely on the basis that Leicester can’t help but concede early on and then have to make a drastic rescue mission we plumped for Naughton.

Captain – Kenin de Bruyne
Having been rested mid-week Kevin should be raring to go and a flailing Villa side feels as good a target as any for a rampant Man City.
Our vice-captain is Graziano Pelle

Hey guys, I should play Huth vs Wat (H) rather than Dawson vs Mun (A) shouldn’t I? My team right now is
Cech (Hennessy)
Huth, Kolarov, Cedric (Bellerin, Dawson)
Sanchez, KDB, Mahrez, Mane, Willian
Pelle, Vardy (Sakho).
I have 1 FT and 0.9 itb but I should save my FT for after the International break even with Bellerin and Sakho injured?
Leicester tend to concede first and then fill their boots. I can see Watford scoring. Dawson vs Utd has more potential to be blank. The Theatre of Dreams has become a bit of venue for afternoon naps without exciting reverie. There’s no guarantee that Utd will score. Just my thoughts on your predicament. Good luck.
Butland
Kolarov Coloccini Van Dijk
Ayew Sanchez KDB (VC) Mahrez (C) Payet
Lukaku Pelle
Good to go? Or use FT for Ayew to Ozil?
Anyone? Appreciate any advice!
A few things to consider for the captain dilemma this week which has made me go for Mahrez (thanks to the power of Twitter!) My front 7:
Payet / De Bryune / Sanchez / Mahrez
Pelle / Vardy /Bony
Mahrez (Wat H)
– Worried about his game time? The 3 games he hasn’t started have all been away. He has started every game at home in the league so far this season.
– Across the 10 games he has played some part in he has 6 double figure scores and 17 bonus points.
Vardy (Wat H)
– When considering him or Mahrez I decided against him due to a comment I read on here about his lack of bonus points so far this season (11 in 11 games) despite all his goals.
Pelle (Sun A)
– Sunderland have let in 25 goals this season but only 28% have been conceded at home.
– Big Sam will try and make this tight and scrappy after shipping 6 goals last week.
– Pelle has 6 goals and 5 assists so far this season, but only 2 goals and 2 assists have come away from home.
Bony / De Bruyne (Villa A)
– City have scored 26 goals in the league this season but only 27% have come away from home. Although 3 of their 5 away games have been against Everton, Spurs and Man Utd.
– New manager impact may help Villa.
Sanchez and Payet I am ruling out as they have tougher games on paper.
Anyway, hope it helps. You could make a case for any of my front 7 really. It was close for me but I’ve gone Mahrez (c) and De Bruyne (vc). Don’t shoot me if the above means nothing come 10pm on Monday night!
Great analysis Robin. That’s top stuff and just in time. You’ve made me consider Mahrez because of the bonus. How good will Watford be against his probing? I’ve feeling they can be quite a tight defensive set up. Still unsure!
+1 great analysis.
You make a great case for Mahrez, but I can see City putting a few past Villa, regardless of away fixture – De Bruyne for me!
Good luck.
Robin
Cheers for this, very good stuff. I’m currently debating between Pelle and Mahrez for the armband. Really not sure who it should be! You make a great case for Mahrez though.
Need help on my team?
Do I transfer Bony or Martial out.. for Lukaku or Kane?
thanks
I got rid of Martial before last GW. I think I’ll bring him back when LVG sees sense. Replaced him with Kane based on form…..plan is to get Lukaku after the break. I’d probably get Lukaku if I were you.
Or just save the transfer this week!
Hi guys, quick question
Butland or Begovic in goal this week abs captain choice from KDB, Sanchez, Pelle, Vardy or Mahrez
I’d rather have Begovic today – Chelsea will score at some point, unsure about Stoke
(C) on vardy right now….anyone bother to change my mind? Kdb and Mahrez came very close. My opponent hasn’t got Kdb but has vardy&mahrez.
Somebody once told me a theory that you should captain a player your rival doesn’t. You get double the players points, and if your rival caps Vardy/Mahrez you’ll still get half of what they get.
Depends if you think City will score a few against a team who can’t keep a clean sheet to save their lives!
