Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 2
Interesting start to say the least. The FF247 team did not fail our members…well maybe just a little, well one in particular. If you would have told us that we were going to score 27 points, we probably would have asked on which day. Apparently FPL still has a sense of humour though and that was our grand total for the GW. Those 27 gave us a ranking of 2,155,382 which is good news and bad news at the same time. As always the bad news first, we have a long way to climb to beat last season’s rank. The good news, we shouldn’t see a red arrow until the New Year. Without further ado, let’s give you a quick rundown on who helped put us in this predicament before we talk about our plans for the coming GW.
In goal we went with the ever trusty Thibaut Courtois. Right, that went a little different than what we had planned. We knew he would be a standout keeper when we selected him and he did not fail to do so. As he certainly stood out from the crowd with that negative score. Luckily though we have Hennessey to fill in for a week. 😉
5 points from our defence. In a performance to forget, our defenders received 8 goals and picked up a yellow to boot. Our only sort of bright spot was Cedric who managed an assist, but even that came with a grain of salt as he was subbed off at halftime with a yellow in his back pocket too.
In the midfield we displayed tremendous cohesion. Well except for that unhappy City lad, Sterling. Who went against the grain and scored 3 points instead of two like all of our other mids. Included in those two pointers was our captain Eden Hazard. Who looked less dangerous than Arsenal in a street fight.
Our forwards did their best to save the week. Scoring 5 and 6 points is not exactly something to get over excited about, but after seeing the rest of our scores, we shouldn’t be ungrateful. So thank you Wayne and Fossil, it is appreciated.

Transfer(s) for GW2- We are going to save the transfer
What? Yeah, you read that right. We have decided to play with 10. It was always understood that a clean sheet was not super likely against City even with a CFC keeper. So we will take the 0 from Courtois instead of using a valuable transfer right before we bring in Aguero. You never know though, maybe Hennessey plays this week, stranger things have happened.

Team Selection
We decided to go with a 3-4-3 and in a shockingly close vote decided to bench Milner over…wait for it…wait for it…Hazard. That’s right, part of our illustrious panel were still steaming at Hazard for his performance vs the Swans. So when it came time to decide on who we should make ride the pine, some still had a bone to pick with the Belgian dynamo. We guess we could say playing City away was part of the reason there was opposition to Haz, but that would take away from the story. It was not an easy decision to sit Milner at home vs Bournemouth. In fact what are we thinking? Well for us it was just a matter of liking each player in our attacking half more than James. Luckily for us though, James understands the art of being good, but not good enough to crack the starting line-up. Sorry Mr. Boring.

Captain
Our captain this week is Wayne Rooney
We have decided to go with the United striker. It was however not an easy decision as our votes were cast in several different ways. In the end it was a combination of fixture and a proven track record that won out. Hopefully this week Rooney can shoot before the paint dries as we can certainly use all the points we can get.
Our vice-captain is Sadio Mane
If Wayne can’t go for some reason we have decided to entrust our vice captaincy to Mane. Frankly if he has the chances he had last week, he is bound to score at least one if not more.

Hi Raz, I’m pretty sure that if we had him then he’d have won the vote easily.
To be honest, Liverpool were really dreadful versus Stoke. What makes you think they will fare better against Bournesmouth? 😉
Also, you guys aren’t even playing Milner. 😉
If Milner played up front and was a relatively lethal forward then we’d have played him and almost certainly captained him. But he isn’t 😉
Mehehe, funny how many here said Milner was mediocre, just a few seasons back (maybe even last season). In a team full of prima donna’s I love to see players like him. As for his new role, main reason why I don’t have him.
Still a tough decision to bench him this week with that fixture. Came down to him and Hazard really.
I’m on Tekkers Raz. Nearly promoted team on his home debut. Also a Monday night captain too is always nice, I can’t resist…

I would probably go with Benteke, although it is a lottery as both looked quite shite in gw1! Rooney will probably be my capo, but I don’t have Benteke. What doesn’t appeal is a Friday night capo that may fail then spend the weekend with a tin hat on!

I bet my mate $50 that Bentekkers scores on monday night. He will.
I want him to ignite, but I’m not convinced it will happen. Liverpool looked poor on Sunday and for Benteke to feature in FPL they will have to play to his strengths. That is why I didn’t buy him from the off. No one can argue with his potential though!
Well, in all honesty, They were trying to play to his strenghts more this time around. Just none of the balls made it to him. :p

pretty much have the same team but i kept Milner in. Thinking of putting either hazard or sterling on the bench. I feel the chelsea city game will end up 0 0 typical mourinho away performance or they win 1 0 with a terry or ivanovic goal
Milner should pick an assist or 2 i think.
Can’t argue with that logic at all, I feel the same on the City game.
i have a bad habit of benching teh wrong player in big games. I.e Kane versus chelski last year cost me 18 pts and my league title
. and given my 28 pts start i m thinking this will be a long and hard FPL season 
Ouch! Must admit I did also have a habit of shying away from some players because it was a top 4 clash or whatever too but quite often they still produce something.
Anyone want to talk me out of doing this –

Switch Rooney to Benteke and Captain him.
Reasoning is that Raz has inspired me on Benteke (well ok, got me thinking, plus I now have a scapegoat 😉 ) and the more I think about those 2 games the more I think Utd struggle to a narrow win and Liverpool stroll to an easy one and if they do I’m pretty sure Tekkers gets a goal or 2.
Other reason is I like a Monday night captain. Especially as I go on holiday on Sunday and so will be watching it with a :beer: or two
not worth the gamble and historically rooney plays well against the next 2 opponents. they will have the same amount of pts by GW 4. Liverpool always find a way to disappoint not sure they will steamroll teams yet.
Rooney -> Benteke and a Friday night Beer, Man Utd will be a different beast to the early morning game of last week, why they get shoved into that time slot so often I don’t know.
I have to admit, I fear Rooney going on a rampage. I was asking for advise. I was not saying Bentekers should be CAP. FFS! :rant:

Hey init. I’d be losing Courtois, especially since you have Azpilicueta too. The way Chelsea have looked since the end of last season, i’d be wary of their defence until around GW 7.

I just want to go on record for saying that i haven’t seen such a bold move since some guy i know captained a striker from MLS side Orlando.
