Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 2

FF247 team GW2Interesting start to say the least. The FF247 team did not fail our members…well maybe just a little, well one in particular. If you would have told us that we were going to score 27 points, we probably would have asked on which day. Apparently FPL still has a sense of humour though and that was our grand total for the GW. Those 27 gave us a ranking of 2,155,382 which is good news and bad news at the same time. As always the bad news first, we have a long way to climb to beat last season’s rank. The good news, we shouldn’t see a red arrow until the New Year. Without further ado, let’s give you a quick rundown on who helped put us in this predicament before we talk about our plans for the coming GW.

In goal we went with the ever trusty Thibaut Courtois. Right, that went a little different than what we had planned. We knew he would be a standout keeper when we selected him and he did not fail to do so. As he certainly stood out from the crowd with that negative score. Luckily though we have Hennessey to fill in for a week. 😉

5 points from our defence. In a performance to forget, our defenders received 8 goals and picked up a yellow to boot. Our only sort of bright spot was Cedric who managed an assist, but even that came with a grain of salt as he was subbed off at halftime with a yellow in his back pocket too.

In the midfield we displayed tremendous cohesion. Well except for that unhappy City lad, Sterling. Who went against the grain and scored 3 points instead of two like all of our other mids. Included in those two pointers was our captain Eden Hazard. Who looked less dangerous than Arsenal in a street fight.

Our forwards did their best to save the week. Scoring 5 and 6 points is not exactly something to get over excited about, but after seeing the rest of our scores, we shouldn’t be ungrateful. So thank you Wayne and Fossil, it is appreciated.

Transfer(s) for GW2- We are going to save the transfer
What? Yeah, you read that right. We have decided to play with 10. It was always understood that a clean sheet was not super likely against City even with a CFC keeper. So we will take the 0 from Courtois instead of using a valuable transfer right before we bring in Aguero. You never know though, maybe Hennessey plays this week, stranger things have happened.

Our team in full…

Team Selection
We decided to go with a 3-4-3 and in a shockingly close vote decided to bench Milner over…wait for it…wait for it…Hazard. That’s right, part of our illustrious panel were still steaming at Hazard for his performance vs the Swans. So when it came time to decide on who we should make ride the pine, some still had a bone to pick with the Belgian dynamo. We guess we could say playing City away was part of the reason there was opposition to Haz, but that would take away from the story. It was not an easy decision to sit Milner at home vs Bournemouth. In fact what are we thinking? Well for us it was just a matter of liking each player in our attacking half more than James. Luckily for us though, James understands the art of being good, but not good enough to crack the starting line-up. Sorry Mr. Boring.

Captain

Our captain this week is Wayne Rooney
We have decided to go with the United striker. It was however not an easy decision as our votes were cast in several different ways. In the end it was a combination of fixture and a proven track record that won out. Hopefully this week Rooney can shoot before the paint dries as we can certainly use all the points we can get.

Our vice-captain is Sadio Mane
If Wayne can’t go for some reason we have decided to entrust our vice captaincy to Mane. Frankly if he has the chances he had last week, he is bound to score at least one if not more.

My cap choice is between Benteke, Defoe and Rooney. Leaning towards Jermain as a differential… but who would you guys choose?

Carzola vs. Milners … thoughts? See Crystal Palace as a tough nut to crack this year. Bournemouth … Jury’s out, newly promoted teams often start strong and cause a few upsets, but feel Liverpool will win this … Just whether Milner will get in the mix.

    Hi all,

Not sure what to do this week. Plan is to save my FT as I can’t see anything urgent but not sure how to line up.

Coates to play? They have a good home fixture but they were truly awful last week.
    Start Mahrez? Play Jenko?

I can see me benching a lot of points this week but I don’t really know who would make way for Mahrez and Jenko and Mahrez sort of contradict one another.

Also, thinking about a punt on Sakho/Pelle for captain, thoughts?

Hi AT, team looks good for this GW mate, cant argue with your selections.

      • AT says:

Cheers NIN, just praying Mahrez has a quiet one..
When I made my rotational 3rd/5th I didn’t think about the selection headache! haha

        Who you captaining this week?

        • NIN says:

I was 100% starting with Mahrez&Vardy until the Ranieri appointment so just be glad you got Mahrez’ GW1 haul!

          Kane (c) Aguero (vc)

        • AT says:

          Indeed, incredibly fortunate!
Very worried about not having that pair in my team. Will be praying Aguero is kept quiet until Rooney’s historically good games dry up haha

        • NIN says:

Yeah, i’m happy to have both of them. Aguero was a gamble but i’d rather be adding City cover to him in GW 4 than trying to get him in, we’ll see if it works out. Main concern this week is Wally though, there’ll be a large loss in value if he doesn’t start/blanks again this week which would hinder things a bit.

        • AT says:

Exactly the reason why I didn’t start with him. Then again, can see Ozil’s value dropping too if he doesn’t perform.

        • NIN says:

Yep, it’s hit-and-hope with their attack. Walcott is dropping tonight, another 0.2/0.3 would hurt.

    How does this look?
    Ruddy (Butland)
    Mert Coates Cedric (Huth Francis)
    Haz Walcott Chadli Mane (Fletcher)
    Benteke Rooney(v) Wilson
2.5 it for Aguero next week. Saving my FT.

Pelle as Captain for me – good differential also ( hopefully)

      Raziel says:

Pelle is such an odd player. Last season he started mediocre (but working for the team), than he had a few games where he was absolutely amazing (same with Tadic) and after that he was kind of slowish again. Everybody figured JRod would take his place when fit, even the Soton fans. Seems he remains a regular though.

    Raziel says:

Depending on how Depay fares tonight I might ship out Wally for him. In GW4 I want to have Kun and he will replace Rooney. Depay would leave some United coverage.

      Raziel says:

Happy Wally didn’t drop last night. As for him doing good this season. I don’t trust Wenger to use him consistently. I mean, ignoring him the first game, pathetic.

      • Raziel says:

Is it crazy to drop Wally? Tonight I will have 2 FT’s but he coudl go on a rampage this weekend. Am I talking to myself again? >.<

        • Captain Dicky and His C Men says:

Walcott is a curious one. I don’t think Wenger can ignore Ox at the moment and with Sanchez on the other wing that leaves Theo rotating with Giroud. I’m hoping he starts but doesn’t go crazy as I dont want Arsene to think we don’t need another striker!

        • NIN says:

Hi Raz. I’d give him another shot this weekend and see what happens. A no-show or blank changes things though and he’ll probably have to go if that happens.

        • Raziel says:

Well NiN, he will drop tonight. Arsenal have Liverpool at Home next week while United have Necastle at home. If United do look good, Depay might be interesting.
