Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 23

Fantasy FootballHallelujah!!! A green arrow has come back to visit us after we finally managed to hit on the perfect captain. After a rough season and many disappointments, this past GW was celebrated like an Arsenal 4th place trophy, we hugged, drank some champagne and said flowery French phrases to each other. For one week all was right in the FPL world and our 65 points helped us jump over 200K spots. With 16 game-weeks left we still believe that we can reach a ranking that while still somewhat disappointing, is at least respectable, particularly considering where we still sit in the overall.

GW22 in summary The team decided to play without a keeper this week…well we had one, but it was the Palace one versus City, so we got a fat zero. As we expected. We managed 2 clean sheets from our back 3, with Dijk and Bellerin coming through for us. Morgan was the only one who missed out, by conceding a goal to the worst team in the EPL, Villa. In the midfield there were some very average scores with only KdB scoring over the coveted 5 points. Alli continued his fall back down to earth with another 2 pointer, Mahrez missed his second pen in 3 weeks and has now produced nothing over the last 5 GWs. KdB grabbed us 6 points to justify our faith in him a bit, while Ozil needed to rest his eyes and took the week off. Luckily Deulofeu was able to grab an assist in his 11 minute stint to help us with 4 points off the bench. Up top we had Romelu, who was kept for his upcoming fixtures not his last two, Vardy who grabbed an assist and a yellow and our captain sensational Kun Aguero. Those 32 points from the Argentinian had us inside the 1 million mark for a few hours. They were relatively glorious them hours, and we want to feel like that again, so here are our transfer plans and captaincy for the week ahead.

Transfer/s decision for GW23… hold the transfer
The initial plan was a simple van Dijk to Baines switch and we’d have been happy enough with that, all things considered, but then Leighton rose unexpectantly on Thursday evening and so our plan A was in disarray. Our plan B was, well, non existent. We hadn’t got that far! The obvious was a cheaper alternative such as Jagielka but it gave us time to consider the upside of an Everton defender and we concluded that whilst Baines had plenty of that in terms of attacking potential the rest just looked like sitting ducks given that they do have a propensity to ship about 8 goals every week, or so it feels.

And so we decided to take stock and look ahead and we felt that a transfer banked may actually be a valuable asset given that there will be a blank game-week ahead for some, pending the outcome of this weeks League Cup semi-finals. Everton have a better chance than most of having a blank that week too given that even if they don’t reach the final itself they will still miss out should Liverpool do so as they are scheduled to play them that week.

The team in full

The only real contention was over whether to play Deulofeu or Alli. The majority vote went with Alli. That’s all your writer can say right now as he’s foaming at the mouth at the decision. Let’s hope it’s the right one, for their sakes!

Olsson starts too, more in hope than expectation as he’s reported as being 50/50 but if he doesn’t then he’s unlikely to feature at all so that ones a nothing ventured, nothing gained move. With plenty on the bench to cover for it.

Captain – Romelu Lukaku
Kun was considered, of course, given his recent form, but we also considered that City have been poor away from home and their opponents West Ham have been anything but at home and are unbeaten in 8 at the Boleyn. Everton can knock 3 or 4 past anyone on their day (and still lose) and if the mood takes them then Romelu will surely be at the centre of it. (As will his provider Deulofeu. Sorry. Still fuming!)

Our vice-captain is Sergio Aguero
He won’t be needed. But just in case he is, then he’s our second pick.

For those who have Lukaku and Aguero! Which one to captain?

    £1.4m ITB and 2 FTs

Ideally could do with some Everton coverage (ideally Lukaku(!) – maybe Barkley, Delefeou) but don’t know how to make the numbers fit/who to sacrifice.

Any other thoughts appreciated. Bonus points if you can squeeze Kane in as well…transfer tetris

    Guys, good to go?

Captained Aguero …but Lukaku is tempting.

I definitely want Payet in next GW but don’t know how.

This week I’m looking at Simpson in for Rangel, benching Bellerin. Should I use my other transfer?
(considering Barkley in for De Bruyne, which would allow Payet in for Watson next week)

That plan sounds alright to be EBC. Do you have Aguero as cover for City? If yes, your moves in midfield sound good for me

      • EBC says:

Barkley in this week or wait for next week?

I think it’s a toss up between De Bruyne & Barkley and I’m a bit nervous KDB runs riot then has 2 good fixtures.

        • Neo says:

I personally sold Payet for KDB last week because I feel that the former will generate more points over the season. I still think it’s good to have 1 midfield and 1 striker cover for City, which is why I’m bringing in Silva next week.

Are you able to downgrade KDB to Barkley this week and then get get Silva the next? I prefer Barkley to be honest, watched him last week against Chelsea and he was very sharp!

        • Neo says:

Sorry I mean I sold KDB for Payet last week! I don’t like his returns because they are too inconsistent

        • EBC says:

I’m not keen on Silva. For that price I want a potential captain, don’t think you get that with Silva.

          Simpson is done!

Could bring Barkley in for De Bruyne this week, which would mean Payet in for Watson next week. Or I could keep De Bruyne this week and reassess once the league cup finalists are confirmed.
