Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 27

“Strange and rare green arrows reported over FF247 HQ” was the headline on the front of Monday’s newspapers. Yes we beat the average, we rose in the rankings and after a brief but brutal management reshuffle we are on the way up. 59 points was the total this week compared to an offical average of just 41pts. That’s a massive beat by anyone’s standards, especially ours. It has taken us up to 829,435 in the rankings (from 997,243) – ok, still not a great ranking overall, but we’re heading in the right direction. Honest!

GW26 in summary – We’ll pass over our 1pt masterclass from Hennessey in goal – he is cheap, his manager is nasty, what can we expect from such an unfortunate lad? Our defence did us proud, or at least two thirds of it did. Van Dijk’s clean sheet (there’s a joke there somewhere) and three bonus points was a lovely return in itself but add in Angel Rangel also and at that point we knew we were onto something good. You see young Angel played for 66mins and was then hauled off by the boss with the score at 0-0 so we kept his clean sheet and weren’t at all bothered that Shane Long spoiled the party for Fabianski or Naughton owners, for our Angel was comfortably sat on the bench, all wrapped up with six points to give us. Bellerin completed the trio at the back but delivered just 2pts.

Payet and Ozil were our midfield maestros – Payet delivered 13pts with a goal, assist and maximum bonus points at Norwich, while Ozil’s last gasp assist for Lazarus Welbeck somehow meant Mesut also eyed up three bonus points. Somehow. But we’re not complaining. Alli and Mahrez contributed three points apiece, but they have carried us for much of the season so all is cool.

Our skipper, Kun, was a waste of space for he did nothing vs Spurs. Kane scored a penalty in the same game for 6pts while Jamie “Adonis” Vardy also netted and managed a bonio vs the Gooners. So all in all, better than average, it was a shame about the capo as we could of made great strides with a decent pick, but c’est la vie, onwards and upwards, blah blah blah.

Don’t mock us for celebrating, these weeks haven’t happened much this season.

Transfer decision for GW27 – We have sold Alex McCarthy and Gerard Deulofeu and bought Hugo Lloris and Giannelli Imbula
Using out two free transfers we have bulked up our squad, got good cover for the blanks for GW27 and GW30 and given ourselves a weekly conundrum as to who to play in goal. The Lloris move gives us Spurs defensive cover, which we feel is paramount given their impressive record this season and also means we have a keeper for GW30, given that Wayne Hennessey and Palace have a blank that week. We could have course sold the slightly more expensive Hennessey to give us more cash but we held onto him because Palace will have a DGW at some point.

The purchase of Imbula means we can field a front seven this week despite Kun’s absence and what better than Villa at home for our new friend to make an impression. In all honesty, we’d have preferred Shaqiri or Arnautovic, but our lack of cash made them unaffordable. He gives us a decent 5th mid option as well for a relatively low price and he looked impressive last week. He’s not a renowned goalscorer but hey it’s Villa so we’d have picked our Gran this week if she was cheap enough and facing that lot. Jon Walters was suggested but quickly rejected by the committee. Well most of them. Much to the disgust of one of them, no prizes for guessing who kicked the office cat…

Captain – Jamie Vardy
It was a close call between Vardy and his Fox counterpart Riyad Mahrez and we could easily have gone with Mahrez. However, Vardy won the vote due to his better stats at home than Mahrez and also on the back of the fact that he is now on penalties. We are obviously hoping for a massive Leicester performance vs a struggling Norwich side with Vardy to carry on his impressive season which has so far yielded 19 goals.

Our vice-captain is Dimitri Payet
If Vardy breaks another tooth in the warm up or if the Leicester vs Norwich is postponed for whatever reason, Payet will take the armband.
