Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 38

Oh Andy! Andy, Andy, Andy… You big donkey. You have no idea how many seasons you wrecked last week! It was all there on a plate. Swansea on holidays and resting players, Man United struggling to defend crosses, you on a hot streak, 6 goals in the previous 7 games. And you decide to lay an egg on the all important ‘triple captain’ week for us. Thanks. It’s not even like your team didn’t score, they got 4 over the piece. Even an assist would have been appreciated, but no. And now everyone’s going to sell you this week in a fit of rage and you’re going to score 2 aren’t you, we just know it! Andy aside, our ‘DGW’ side had 8 players playing twice which equated to 19 chances as such. We scored 84 which means that they averaged just 4.4 points each. When you put it like that it’s pretty poor. When we tell you that Patrick van Aanholt weighed in with over 20% of those points then that probably says it all really! We’ve not really seen many, if any, ‘monster’ scores though like we did in DGW34, with some approaching the 200 mark, so perhaps we escaped lightly. Our overall rank jumped up some 18k places to 121k. A far cry from where we expected and wanted to be but it is what it is and so let’s see if we can make one final push to crack that 100k mark this week…

Transfer decision for GW37 – Sold – Riyad Mahrez; Bought – Sadio Mane
We didn’t really need to do a transfer this week, for probably the first time this season, and so we just had a look around at the players available and their respective fixtures and said “who’s most likely to go off on one if the mood takes them?!”. The answer was Mane. The Saints are the current in form team, scoring freely, they’re at home and are playing a Palace side who will have more than one eye on next weeks FA Cup final, both in terms of psychology and actual team selection. Tadic was the other option as he’s been firing too but Mane tends to go off in bursts and if there’s goals around then he’s likely to be involved in the fun. Especially when there’s a transfer window pending and this is his last chance to showcase himself. Not that we are suggesting anything but there does seem to be a direct correlation between his output and them windows!

The team in full

The team pretty much picks itself. It’s always difficult to bench Patrick ‘get him because he once hit the post with a free-kick’ van Aanholt but basically if Carlsberg picked defences then this week they’d pick ours. We’ve had a last minute change with the Payet news but nothing too taxing as it simply means Lanzini takes his place in the 11. We’re pretty happy with that lot but we’ve all thought that a few times this season so let’s see what happens!

Captain – Alexis Sanchez
For whatever reason Arsenal have a tradition of suddenly turning on the style on the last day of the season and a home game against a very poor and very relegated Villa just feels like a perfect storm!

Our Vice-captain is Sergio Aguero

Good luck for this week from the FF247 Team Committee. We thank you for sticking with us in what has been a very trying season! Our first season of doing this saw us riding relatively high and we finished about 5k but this one has been a disaster from start to finish! Pretty much everything we touched turned to sh*t  if we’re being honest! We are just glad that we aren’t alone in that though as it has been the same for a good many. We hope we kept you entertained along the way though as we are always nothing if not honest about our feelings!

Would appreciate some advice / suggestions / constructive criticism on the following:

    Migs
    Baines Toby DVV Cresswell
    Eriksen Mahrez Payet
    Defoe Carrol Kane

    Robbles Coutinho Firmino PVA

considering Mane / Tadic for Coutinho / Firmino and play 3-4-3…also considering Lukaku / Vardy for Defoe / Carrol…

    Your thoughts?

    Cheers

    Morning all!!

So are we all set for today?

      Mitro

Yes sir. Did you get any sleep then? :winktongue:

I know how worrying it can be when you are so close in a ML but just remember, there’s nothing you can do to affect how players will play today. I don’t know if you saw my reply last night but I also would leave your team as is and let autosubs do their work. What will be, will be.

      • Mitro says:

A little mate, I was upto 2 looking at stats and reading the articles again! Just worried that it will happen again, I lost it last year by a couple of points because the guy behind me took a hit!

My gut is telling me to go for it but my head is telling to stay firm because every point counts! What ever I do today has to be spot on, I’ve decided if he does a -4 or a -8 then I will do the same!

Right fellas the last GW and Payet is just another spanner in the works. I’m trying to make up a 40 point gap in my ML, I don’t think I’ll do it but I want to try. Should I leave Payet on or just take him off and play Lanzini?
Also should I take a punt and captain Tadic??

    • 23.1

      Matt

I think Lanzini would be an OK sub to have.

Aguero as captain could be the differential this week as I’m sure the world and his wife will back Arsenal in their match.

      • MattX says:

Cheers GP so should I leave it to auto subs or just change it now so I don’t get screwed by Payet surprising us and playing the last 5 minutes haha ??

I was thinking that all week but now I’m starting to worry that Swansea have hit form recently and been scoring like mad so might end up screwing me over you know?

How are you all set mate?

        • I’d be very surprised if he is out his bed by kick-off let alone play for five.

If you fancy Tadic, go for him, I wouldn’t talk you out of it.

I’m good thanks mate. Took Mane and Tadic on this week and Aguero as captain. We’ll see.

          Good luck!

        • MattX says:

Right I’ll change it anyway just to be safe.

I think I might do. I might aswell as it’s meant to be a punt and if it pays off then the 40 point gap may actually get made up.

Those are the players of the week I’d say so should do well.

          Good luck mate! !

          Hi TGP.
          Hope you are well
So what’s the deal with Payet?
I am looking to bring in Mane for him or Coutinho.
I now work in Southampton and have lots of banter with their lads.
Really don’t want to rooting for that lot especially before tonight’s big game but needs must

          Hi pal.

Watched your boys in the play-off on Friday. Hope you can get the job done at Plymouth mate. Be a great first step back.

Payet picked up an injury in training and a close source says he hasn’t left London. Coutinho will definitely be rested for Wednesday’s final. May need to make two moves pal,

        • Horse says:

It was a cracking game at home to Plymouth. I can’t believe we didn’t win.
Anyway watching it today with some mates and beer on the big screen.
