Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 5
Well that was a fun opening 4 weeks. We will now share our ranking if you promise not to laugh. Our current ranking is 2… cough, cough, sorry about that, we also have our MLS hats on. Our FPL ranking is a fair way off that – 2,677,857. Awful! Anyway, after that revealing moment, we have at least a small victory to report. Shockingly we do have 2 of something at least – straight green arrows. We know, it was almost impossible to get a red after our start. However we almost defied the odds as we came bloody close in both GW3’s and 4! The bleeding must end now, so we did what any depressed panicked manager would do, we played the wildcard after actually deleting the team and just walking away ‘NIN style’ was voted down.
Showing that we have learned our lesson from the cruel punishment that was the first 4 GWs, we have turned to the same FPL “gurus” who got us in this hole. Wait…what? Oh well, at least there is no relegation in FPL. Any more like this though and there could be a cull…
So now onto our transfer plans and team selection for the upcoming GW5.

Transfer(s) for GW5 – We wildcarded
As we say we’d basically had enough of our nonsense of a squad and so decided the time was right to correct our original wrongs. The International break combined with the transfer window closing felt like a good opportunity to refresh. It also promised a chance to cash in on some price rises but in all honesty that didn’t really materialise. Anyway we bit the bullet and here’s what we came up with…

Our team in full…
Team Selection
Goalkeepers and Defenders.
This was probably where we ended up spending the most time and effort and probably where we yielded the least results! Once the front 8 had been picked and Kolarov took his place the rest were severely restricted in terms of budget. The fact is that so many other budget spots in these positions are up in the air at the moment given both new signings and also a number of key players imminently returning from injury. Trying to settle on and also second guess actual starters proved very difficult. So difficult in fact that we probably got to the stage where we wished we had waited on playing the WC itself and maybe sat back and let these issues settle down a little.
We didn’t. So we had to push on with what we had started and ended up with the above mess! Well ok, it’s not a mess as such but if say McCarthy loses his place to the soon returning Speroni then we could be left with just 1 keeper. Krul himself was a tough one but we put faith in the Toon given their kind fixture run from GW9 onwards. Oxford joins the not yet mentioned Surman in being cheap bench fodder that we are happy to never really have to call into service. Let’s call them ‘enablers’.
Probably all best summed up with the last comment by a committee member who shall remain nameless – ‘That defence is sh*te but without funds there isn’t much out there. Throwing darts at this stage’.
Midfielders and Forwards.
This was clearly where we spent the money. Whether we did it well only time will tell but we are happy with our front 7 that will hopefully start most weeks and see us to some more green arrows. Fat ones. It needs little explanation. Pedro vs Hazard and Silva vs Sterling were the main debates. It came down to price and a little bit of preference but we are happy with what we have.

Captain
Our captain this week is Alexis Sanchez
Possibly the main advantage of actually wildcarding this week was our ability to bring in Sanchez who proved to be a unanimous captain pick. Now we just need Arsenal themselves to remember that the season has begun and start playing like it!
Our vice-captain is Sergio Aguero

***TEAM UPDATE!!!****
Having been blindsided by an unexpected Silva absence we called an emergency committee meeting and swiftly decided to switch him out for City new boy Kevin De Bruyne. Unproven and all that, as such (will he even start?!). Either way we decided to jump on a potential early bandwagon given his blistering Bundesliga form from last season.
At the behest of our friend Horse in the comments we also reviewed our choice of Surman and have subsequently switched him for Westwood of Villa. In theory this is a minor one as we don’t intend for that 5th mid to ever really feature other than as an emergency substitute.

Who is going to be Man U first choice keeper? Romero or De Gea???
DDG
Should be DDG. He just signed a new contract with them, and is better than Romero.
De Gea has to be and all is forgiven with current contract negotiations going on – this based upon common sence
Best 4.7 defender
Harry my old mate it depends on your other Def let us see 😉
Azpilicueta,Cedric,Lescott,Mings,Oxford. Trading out Mings.
Im so torn. I want Silva in my WC team but going for Sterling saves me some cash to do something useful with my defense…
Think the gap between them will be big in points? I feel them and KdB will interchange a lot and Sterlings pace will be an advantage for him
Hey PP I thk Kdb & Sterling will play out wide with Silva just behind Kun & Yaya playing further back , but Sterling should still get points because of his pace good luck mate.
Sivers,
Thanks mate, you as well.
I just feel with the price difference I can do more with my defense… so looking at improving that since the FF247 team copied my template team 😉
I like it PP :big-lol:
Is it just me not going for Sanchez? Arsenal haven’t looked great so far this season. I’ve opted for a stronger defence with a nice differential with Sako, am I missing something?
I think the feeling with Sanchez and Arsenal, its due! Sanchez has looked good and scored on the break with Chile. Who knows with Gioud not firing neither Walcott, he might even get the nod up front for a game with Ox and Walcott on the wings (I wish).
Arsenal has Chelsea, United and Leicester in the coming 4 GWs.
ManUtd has absolutely horrible fixtures in the coming 6 GWs.
I do not have a lot of faith in expensive defenders, usually just pick one expensive one with best fixtures, and rotate the rest. But i get your point that Sanchez is not clicking yet, and it seems wise to invest in clean sheets. But from what I have seen, Sanchez will soon start exploding. He is very active on the field, and its about time he starts getting double figure hauls. Stoke at home might be the fixture for him to register good points.
Also, Oxford’s fantasy appeal is dead I think.
BREAKING NEWS:
David Silva ruled out of GW5 with an ankle injury.
Ouch! So many plans, so many tinkering, so many hours discussing futile FPL. It all comes to your much appreciated team talk article cookie mate. I’ve YYT but not happy with that piece of news actualy. I prefer Silva on the field, it enhances every other city players chances of PFL points. Well, maybe KDB in the middle and Navas keeps his place? but with no Silva I don’t see many fireworks at Crystal Palace.
Pellegrini says KDB will be “in the squad”, whatever that means exactly!!
You have to be kidding me…. No? Great :noshake:
Is this a joke?
No
