Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 6
Well here we are again, trying to explain away our criminal start this season. Sitting at a paltry 2,554,773 is just a touch embarrassing. However we did expect to have a memorable season even if some very negative people (everyone) might see it as forgettable one so far. The good news is we got 3 straight green arrows. The bad news is we are just barely getting them. At this stage we are fighting an FPL war of attrition. Basically hoping that the low rankings of any managers around us will force them to quit so we can pass them in the overall. Well let us give you a quick rundown of our XI heroes that posted a 40 in game-week 5 for us.
In goal we had the trusty hands of Tim Krul who lived up to his surname by handing us one measly point. By the way who suggested a Newcastle keeper for our team? To be fair though, the Toon were in 18th place not 20th when his name was floated. :whatever:
Our backline was filled by one obvious choice that worked out, one ok pick that didn’t work out and a terrible one that did exactly what was expected. Morgan was probably picked with the wildcard based on the idea that he was due a clean sheet? Must have been we guess, considering that Leicester had not kept one in the first 4 games. Naughton is playing on a Swans side that was looking the part, so it was understandable if we thought it was possible that they could hold Watford scoreless. In our last spot we installed Kolarov, who has been in ‘Must Have’ form so far this season.
Our mids continued to be disappointing, well except for the man on the lowest wages. Mahrez once again delivered a double digit haul, his fourth in five appearances. Our new signing KDB fit right in, first by starting from the bench and once he came in he did nothing to earn us any points. Sanchez our captain shot and shot and shot, but none went in, so once again we had to settle for another captaincy disappointment. Pedro of course wasn’t stopped by Everton, he was stopped by the site team. Once we bought him, he stopped producing.
Up front we started the magnificent trio of Aguero, Wilson and Gomis. They managed to combine for 5 points. Fitting we guess, no need for them to kill themselves if no one else on the team is. Now let us go to our transfer plans for GW6, where we will probably sell Kolarov and Mahrez because they are destroying team unity.

Transfer(s) for GW5 – None!
We’ve done nothing! We figured that given every time we have actually done ‘something’ this season it’s turned out terribly so whereas last week we played the wildcard this week we’ve played the apathy card.
Our only real issue this week was Pedro and we voted unanimously to just ride the injury and hopefully have him back next week for the Newcastle game. We’d take anyone against Newcastle right now so it feels like the right call. That’s assuming the injury is as minor as has been reported so far. Obviously if Jose comes out and says something different tomorrow then we reserve the right to reconsider but as it is he’s staying.

Our team in full…
Team Selection
We only really had two decisions this week –
Which defensive mix to pick and what to do with Pedro.
In defence we decided to bench Naughton as we felt that given Everton’s current form they may well score at Swansea. Given our recent form they absolutely won’t. In goal we went for Krul despite our general misgivings regarding Newcastle but this was purely based on a perceived easier home fixture than the alternative McCarthy travelling to Spurs.
As for Pedro we are actually going to start him. It’s more in hope than expectation of course but it’s also founded in the mistrust we have for Jose. We doubt there will be many fantasy managers out there that haven’t been hoodwinked by him and his lies / misdirection at some point in the past. Remember Costa at Everton last season? On the Friday he was almost lame and ready to be shot. On Saturday he scored a hat-trick. Enough said.
We did briefly discuss alternatives. Payet was one of course but his game at Man City soon killed that one. Coutinho was another but the raucous laughter from the Liverpool fans on the panel soon put that one to bed. So Westwood comes in for him if he is indeed injured. Not ideal in theory, but let’s see. It’s been a strange season so far and neither of these scenarios would surprise us – Pedro doing a Lazarus or Westwood grabbing a brace. Pedro actually being injured and Westwood getting a one pointer would probably be a more fitting representation of our season so far though.

Captain
Our captain this week is Sergio Aguero
The vote this week was split fairly evenly but Sergio won out in the end despite him not yet even being 100% confirmed as fit and available. The fact that he came on from the bench in midweek suggests that the ‘rest’ was perhaps precautionary at best. With City in blistering domestic form any home game for him is hard to ignore even though he’s not really got going yet but we all know that break out hat-trick game is just around the corner. Let’s hope it’s this week!
We appreciate that we run the risk of a 30 minute cameo as well if he’s deemed only fit enough for that but if we had to give 30 minutes to any player in the league to make an impact it would be him but hopefully he starts and does the business.
Our vice-captain is Riyad Mahrez
Should Sergio not play a part then we are happy to entrust the captaincy to the man of the season so far. Had this game been at home he may well have walked away with the armband outright such has been his form so far.

Rooney fit, and Jones back to training.
This is my def: Cedric,azpiliqueta,holebas,Moore,Coates
Which option is better?
1)Moore->cook
(and play pedro, have holebas/Wanyama as back up) (no hits)
2)Coates,holebas->muniesa and cook
(bench pedro, and play both muniesa and cook) (-4)
3)azpiliqueta,Coates->kolarov,Evans/Gomez
(play pedro and have Wanyama and holebas as backup) (-4)
I like 3. Both Gomez and Kola have a decent chance of clean sheet, although WH has been firing lately, and Hoola is in great form. Dont recommend hits a lot, but it would be better to get on the Kola-wagon sooner than later. This move could easily cover up the hit points.
What to do this week. I’m trying to hold out on wild card till next international break so just looking at next 2 weeks. At first I wanted to get rid of Depay but he scored midweek and has Sunderland at home next week. Mourinho is being really helpful with the injury news as usual. I am considering Coutinho in for Pedro and maybe Wilson in for Watmore and benching Ozil.
Thoughts or any suggestions guys?
I wouldnt just bet on a Depay goal against SOTON who has been doing good defensively. If you are looking to play WC in 2GWs, then it would be best to take out both Pedro and Depay this GW, especially if you have 2FTs.
Depay + Pedro > Coutinho + Shaqiri is the best transfer for you if you want to improve your points potential in coming 2GWs, since both these players have 2 home games coming up, and both have good scoring potential.
I only have one free transfer. Yeah Saints are pretty solid. Shaqiri is interesting. Ah just checked I have 3 game weeks to get through. Though I think normality should resume over next few weeks
Then I guess Pedro > Cout is the best one here, unless you think Benteke is more than enough cover from Liverpool, otherwise Shaq is a good alternative too.
Keep Depay in for now for the 2 points he should bring in, and since you are playing WC when Chelsea’s fixtures go north, you would know who is the best option from Chelsea (Pedro, Oscar or Costa).
Good luck
Yeah thanks. Just hope Depay does something lol
So this is my team for this GW. Did Pelle > Benteke, so now i know Pelle will score against United, which is a good thing.
Keeping Westwood in the starting 11 because I am afraid of a 1 point cameo from Pedro.
Would also like to know if i should activate my bench boost chip? Thoughts?
Also, anyone notices the flag color coding organization on my bench? Sweet and not at all planned. B)
You might aswell put Pedro in, you’ll only get 2pts for Westwood.
Every single point counts in these low scoring GWs.
I am kind of hoping Westwood gets an odd assist from one of his corners, like he did in GW 1 against BOU, which was a good fixture.
I know this is a long shot because AV attackers cant even finish their dinners, so a goal is a lot to expect. Oh well, a cleanie point would even make me happy.
I would still start Pedro. Westwood may only get one point anyway. For me bench boost is best to play in double GW when team value will be higher. All out attack can be played at any time.
You took my bench boost concern way to seriously mate, i was just mocking my team because of the lack of first aid kits on my bench. :cuckoo:
Anyway, thanks for the input. Westwood > Pedro could be a good option if Mou decides to use Pedro as a power sub against Arsenal, when Chelsea is 3 goals down. B)
Ha yeah I knew that was just giving my opinion on best time to play chip.
Just seen that Mourinho is refusing to rule Pedro out..
Would it still make sense, given my team, to bring in Depay/Mata/Coutinho for him or save my FT and play four at the back if he doesn’t play? His fixture isn’t easy after all..
The team looks in a good format.
Cheers B
what would you advise re: Pedro? Don’t really want to lose value on him and at the rate FFF are showing and the % fpl statistics are showing it doesn’t bode well.
I’m only keeping him for Newcastle but Mata/Depay has Sunderland and a decent game this week and Coutinho has two great games.
I jhave WC active. any advice on this team ?
Ill probably think about putting Cedric in instead of Bellerin.
oh, yeah! i thought of doing that but then forgot to make the change. 😛 thanks
