Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 19
All 10 fixtures in one day is the way we like it. With such a quick turnaround, there is no time to mope around and contemplate destroying your team because a Frenchman decided to stick his head somewhere other than between a woman’s legs. It was a high scoring game-week for many and the FF247 site team was not about to be left out in the cold. So let’s get around the grounds and see what our starting 11 produced. In goal we had trusty Joe Hart. His hands are the best around, we particularly like it when he goes out to punch a ball, sooooo secure in the air. :whatever:
Transitioning over to our defence we put the microscope on our SUPER HIGH priced jewel Leighton Baines. Frankly the only thing we can say about our relationship with him is that we are keeping him because we think he is a good luck charm. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but we still own him so any justification for said ownership would probably sound crazier. So yeah, he is our lucky rabbit’s foot. If you have been keeping up with our site articles you will know that we said that Toby Alderweireld would score a goal. We never specified when, but we feel this is a good time to remind you all that we said it. However don’t go kneeling before us, remember we still own Baines. Our last place in defence was taken up by Taylor or Naylor(for the hip crowd) from Swansea. He was able to garner a bonus point to go along with his clean sheet. In a week with very few clean sheets, this was a welcomed inclusion to our game-week.
Moving along to our midfield. Stewart Downing failed to deliver a goal or an assist for the first time since we have owned him. To be fair to him though he was facing the vaunted Chelsea side. So he is forgiven, in part because the rest of his midfield mates picked up the slack. The Viking Eriksen scored the winner for Spurs, but more importantly scored 8 points for our side. His 61 points when playing away are tops in FPL. Our new signing David Silva was under a lot of pressure to deliver. As our transfer out of Hazard for him looked to backfire after the Belgian was able to deliver an assist in the opening fixture. However the Spanish maestro quickly turned our frown around as he not only matched the assist, but added a goal and the 3 bonus to give him 8 more points on the game-week than our departee. The last of our current fantastic four in the midfield is the dirty one, Alexis Sanchez. Who by the way was our captain. Let us just say after some of the scoring we saw during the first 9 fixtures it was a scary site to see Alexis miss a penalty. However we knew…ahhh who the hell are we kidding, we were petrified. This meant a certain plummeting down the standings if he did not deliver. He soon shook off his 5 year old type shot on his penalty and was able to deliver a goal and an assist. After the negative and positive points he was able to hand us a double figure game and when multiplied it gave us 20. Another successful captaincy if we do say so ourselves.
Bony was able to double his output from the last time we fielded him. Unfortunately he only scored 1 point last time. So once again he disappointed us, but the same can’t be said of the Charlie “Milkman” Austin. The man just continues to deliver and his impressive 10 goals in his last 9 starts coupled with his price makes him a very popular figure in the FF247 offices. Speaking of popular I bring you Diego Costa and by popular I mean most owned in his case. He might not be a crowd favourite, but his first double figure game since week 4 will alleviate some of the stench that has been circulating around him and his production. On a side note the ever well behaved Costa managed to not get a yellow card this time, call it a belated Christmas miracle.
We scored 85 points for the week. We moved up 355 places and now sit in a global position of 643rd. This is our highest ranking of the season and hopefully we can continue to climb higher.
Transfer(s) for GW18 So to confirm our transfer we have – Sold Kyle Bartley for Pablo Zabaleta We know that the transfer could have some possible rotation in his team, but we could not pass up the chance to have Zabaleta feature against Burnley for us and with the rest he’s just had, hopefully against Sunderland also on New Year’s day. We think he is worth the transfer and hope he goes forward a lot more than our dear friend Baines has been lately.
Our team in full… Captain Our captain this week is Charlie Austin He has earned this opportunity with his home displays and considering he gave us a hat trick of happiness last time we captained him, we felt he was the man for the job again. Please no head-butts Charlie. Our Vice Captain this week is David Silva.
The team in text format is –
Hart
Zabaleta, Hutton, Baines
Sanchez, Silva, Eriksen, Downing
Austin (c), Costa, Bony
Bench: Krul. Taylor, Alderweireld, Boyd.

Janmaat/Evans/Jones?
Have no Newcastle or United defensive cover
Evans I think is the best choice
MattX
Why Evans over Jones?
To be honest there both pretty poor I’d prefer Smalling and I think LVG does aswell but he’s unavailable. I just feel that LVG likes Evans better than Jones.
Thing is I feel I want 1 of them and Jones being the only fit Right footed CB plays in his favour… Evans has McNair and Blackett.
But Jones to me seems the better choice. Think I just made up my mind haha
Ye that’s sound logic. Go for it mate haha
Okay I got some advice from ye earlier on but still undecided. Is it worth selling Bony for Benteke for a hit this week or should I make the transfer next week? Or should I make the transfer at all??
Next GW.
Hit not suggested, as both Bony and Beneteke are not explosive and could blank. Bentekke has only scored twice in last 5 GWs, so not worth the hit. Maybe next GW.
Thanks B. That’s what I was thinking and was worried about him blanking that’s why I held off.
Afternoon all!!
I hope you are all well?
This is my team for GW19. Fingers crossed it will send me back up the rankings after a dismal GW18.
What do you think??
Ye I like that team Mitro don’t see anything wrong with it
Mattx – would you go for Austin as cappo or would it be someone else??
Oh that’s a hard one I’m in the same situation I currently have Yaya as Captain vs Burnley but Austin vs Palace is appealing too I just feel that Palace could play defensively this weekend as they get used to their interim managers tactics whereas City should score for fun against Burnley.
Good point!! Think I may have to flip a coin on this one!!
That’s what I do most weeks haha!!
Solid team.
Cheers B – I haven’t got giroud as cappo so hopefully i should see some green arrows!!
Mitro – Desperately unlucky mate. It was going so well until that twonk Giroud decided to go stitching folk. What an idiot. Austin is a great (c) pick this week but i would lean toward one of the City mid’s as i think they’re going to paste Burnley. Either way, you’re set up well and should do well.
I hope so mate giroud proper stitched me up yesterday!!! – I have a bad track record when it comes to captaining silva!! Will this be YYT last game before he goes off to the ACON??
Yaya will play these two home games. My initial thought was Yaya (c) but i’ve been swayed to Silva now. He’s essentially playing as a striker, but he’s a mid, against Burnley at home. Glorious 😉
Do you think jovetic could play??
Mitro – Hard to say, but i would expect him to make a sub appearance, maybe for Silva.
Thinking of a -4 to do Bertrand & Giroud –> Mangala & Benteke. This would be my team. Thoughts?
Just Giroud> Bentekke will suffice too.
You can play Clichy, Azpi and Dummett at the back in 3-4-3, all three with decent fixtures.
I am worried about both Azp and Clichy being rested this GW, which would mean only Dummet as a playing defender ????
I’m also thinking I won’t play Bertrand either of the following two weeks because of opposition strength. I’d plan on Mangala in the team for the long term.
Indeed. You’ve got some defensive issues to take care of so Mangala will help you along, especially with the softness of City’s games.
Agreed. This way if either Azp or Clichy are rested I still have Dummet to come in.
Is Benteke the right Giroud replacement in my team? What other names might anyone suggest?
Lastly, when are Cup opponents revealed? I don’t want to take a hit to bring in Benteke if my opponent already has him :/
Pancho – Benteke is a good option yes. Kane is proving to be great value but Spurs’ fixtures just don’t stand up to Villa’s.
I’m not sure about the Cup ties mate. If not tonight, then early tomorrow i would say.
havent been on in a while but would really appriciate an RMT
Pantmolion-Heaton
Richards-Clark-Tomkins-Brown-Ivanovic
Fabregas-Sanchez-TaylorFletcher-Hazard-Yaya
Kane-Austin-Pele
thinking Yaya—->Silva but is it worth it.
0.0 in the bank and 1 free transfer
No I think it’s a sideways move mate not worth it.
thanks defense is shocking anything you think i can do to help it without taking big hit??
Who’s Brown and Richards?? Can’t place them.
in the long term it’s worth, depends how long you plan on keeping him
hmmm i want a good city cover for all season
Hazardo – Bit of a waste of a FT that, for me. I would rather lose one of your other mid’s than Yaya. Madness to sell him ahead of these games. Or any City players for that matter.
thanks guys a lot to think on i think hazard out and silva in with ivan to terry to free up some funds for next week?
Sounds like a good plan mate. And a bit of topic but is that a tipperary jersey I see in your profile pic??
Hazardo – I sold Sanchez for Yaya for this GW, and the next one, so he’s the one i would choose to sell for Silva. There’s your money saved, Silva in, no hit taken and you’ve still got Yaya. Sorted. Hits for defenders from the same team are a huge no-no, for me. It needs a big slice of luck for it to work out well.
Who should I play this weekend?
Clyne or Wisdom??
Wisdom, no doubt about it.
That’s what I was thinking it was only Clynes attacking potential that was making me waver
Whichever of Azpilicueta/F.Luis start vs Southampton, you’d have to fancy them to pin Clyne back for the majority of the game.
Good point I’ve gone with Wisdom mate cheers
