Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 19

All 10 fixtures in one day is the way we like it. With such a quick turnaround, there is no time to mope around and contemplate destroying your team because a Frenchman decided to stick his head somewhere other than between a woman’s legs. It was a high scoring game-week for many and the FF247 site team was not about to be left out in the cold. So let’s get around the grounds and see what our starting 11 produced. In goal we had trusty Joe Hart. His hands are the best around, we particularly like it when he goes out to punch a ball, sooooo secure in the air. :whatever:

Transitioning over to our defence we put the microscope on our SUPER HIGH priced jewel Leighton Baines. Frankly the only thing we can say about our relationship with him is that we are keeping him because we think he is a good luck charm. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but we still own him so any justification for said ownership would probably sound crazier. So yeah, he is our lucky rabbit’s foot. If you have been keeping up with our site articles you will know that we said that Toby Alderweireld would score a goal. We never specified when, but we feel this is a good time to remind you all that we said it. However don’t go kneeling before us, remember we still own Baines. Our last place in defence was taken up by Taylor or Naylor(for the hip crowd) from Swansea. He was able to garner a bonus point to go along with his clean sheet. In a week with very few clean sheets, this was a welcomed inclusion to our game-week.

Moving along to our midfield. Stewart Downing failed to deliver a goal or an assist for the first time since we have owned him. To be fair to him though he was facing the vaunted Chelsea side. So he is forgiven, in part because the rest of his midfield mates picked up the slack. The Viking Eriksen scored the winner for Spurs, but more importantly scored 8 points for our side. His 61 points when playing away are tops in FPL. Our new signing David Silva was under a lot of pressure to deliver. As our transfer out of Hazard for him looked to backfire after the Belgian was able to deliver an assist in the opening fixture. However the Spanish maestro quickly turned our frown around as he not only matched the assist, but added a goal and the 3 bonus to give him 8 more points on the game-week than our departee. The last of our current fantastic four in the midfield is the dirty one, Alexis Sanchez. Who by the way was our captain. Let us just say after some of the scoring we saw during the first 9 fixtures it was a scary site to see Alexis miss a penalty. However we knew…ahhh who the hell are we kidding, we were petrified. This meant a certain plummeting down the standings if he did not deliver. He soon shook off his 5 year old type shot on his penalty and was able to deliver a goal and an assist. After the negative and positive points he was able to hand us a double figure game and when multiplied it gave us 20. Another successful captaincy if we do say so ourselves.

Bony was able to double his output from the last time we fielded him. Unfortunately he only scored 1 point last time. So once again he disappointed us, but the same can’t be said of the Charlie “Milkman” Austin. The man just continues to deliver and his impressive 10 goals in his last 9 starts coupled with his price makes him a very popular figure in the FF247 offices. Speaking of popular I bring you Diego Costa and by popular I mean most owned in his case. He might not be a crowd favourite, but his first double figure game since week 4 will alleviate some of the stench that has been circulating around him and his production. On a side note the ever well behaved Costa managed to not get a yellow card this time, call it a belated Christmas miracle.

We scored 85 points for the week. We moved up 355 places and now sit in a global position of 643rd. This is our highest ranking of the season and hopefully we can continue to climb higher.

Transfer(s) for GW18 So to confirm our transfer we have – Sold Kyle Bartley for Pablo Zabaleta We know that the transfer could have some possible rotation in his team, but we could not pass up the chance to have Zabaleta feature against Burnley for us and with the rest he’s just had, hopefully against Sunderland also on New Year’s day. We think he is worth the transfer and hope he goes forward a lot more than our dear friend Baines has been lately.

Our team in full… Captain Our captain this week is Charlie Austin He has earned this opportunity with his home displays and considering he gave us a hat trick of happiness last time we captained him, we felt he was the man for the job again. Please no head-butts Charlie. Our Vice Captain this week is David Silva.

The team in text format is –
Hart
Zabaleta, Hutton, Baines
Sanchez, Silva, Eriksen, Downing
Austin (c), Costa, Bony
Bench: Krul. Taylor, Alderweireld, Boyd.

Guys, do you think that Austin is gonna get rested any time soon? He’s by far QPR’s most important player, but that doesn’t mean that he can play every minute.

Morning Lads. Made my two transfer last night is there anything else I need to do?
    Baines – – > Terry
    Oscar – – > Sterling

Since Neil Warnock has been sacked should I take the Captaincy away from Yaya and give it to Austin??

    Pants
    Baines – Cahill – Hutton
Sanchez – Silva (VC) – Hazard – Siggy
    Costa – Bony – Austin (C)

    Alnwhick – Boyd – Taylor – Yun

Have 1FT! Should I use it? I can do Alnwhick to Hart or Bony to Bentekers. Or can do both for a hit.

Hi Raz. I prefer the Bony -> Tekkers move than the GK one. Unless there’s a PK save, you’d have to think that Hart is set for 12-14 points over the next two games. Tekkers could easily beat that considering the games they have coming up.

      • Raziel says:

Indeed, you’re right. Bony is fixture proof though, if he starts he can get as many if not more points than Bentekers. Yesterday he was super quiet though. Not involved at all. And Bentekers was amazing. Pants was unlucky with a hobble goal (forgot the second and the third goal). Still, conceding 3 versus Hull ain’t good. Alnwhick at home versus Everton or Pants away at Villa? Second one will be harder if I do have Bentekers, lol.

        • Raziel says:

Newcastle conceded a lot of goals since Krul and Elliot have been out though. >.<

        • NIN says:

I would play Alnwick and bin Bony. Back to back away games for the Swans isn’t great. More City cover would be preferable though. I sold Sanchez for Yaya, so that’s the move i would actually make here but most wouldn’t want to sell Sanchez yet.

        • Raziel says:

You’re right. I can do the City move later though. Also, have to bare in mind that both City and Chelsea have really hard fixtures mid January. For one, they will face each other. 😉

Hmmm, checked Bony, he did manage 3 goals and an assist in away games (funny those were in games versus Chelsea/City, top teams). Bentekers has 2 great home fixtures, so maybe go with him.

        • Raziel says:

Aaah yes, about Sanchez. With Giroud out for 3 games I would def. not sell Sanchez. NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • NIN says:

Yeah i know. Yaya and Zabaleta will be sold by then so it’s no worries. I just want as much City cover for these games as possible. Sanchez will be back in my team soon enough.

    2 FT, 0.5 itb.

Definitely bringing Austin in for Bony and making him captain. What else should I do?

    a) Nothing
    b) Zabaleta in for Baines
    c) Zabaleta in for Terry
    d) Rooney in for Lukaku (my current thought is to do this in a week or two)
    e) something else

      Raziel says:

Looking at Bentekers myself. Think I’d even favor him over Rooney. Though, Rooney has been on fire. He can’t make those super runs every game though and no doubt there will be games where others shine. Bentekers is bound to score soonish. He was awesome versus Swansea (in an away game), not many teams have created this many chances at Swansea away. Swansea were very lucky to keep a CS (as was I with my Naylor).

      • EBC says:

Mmm…interesting run of fixtures right enough. I hadn’t really considered him because Villa have been terrible but it’s tempting.

Might do that and consider Terry out next GW.

        • Raziel says:

He was awesome yesterday EBC. Every chance Villa created he was at the start of it. Hmmm, very unlucky not to score/assist. But that sums it up, it’s all about luck in the end.

      NIN says:

Hi EBC. I would go ahead and sell Lukaku mate. I don’t know what has happened to Everton, but they’re really shite just now, sitting 17th in the form table. It might even be worth a hit to get rid of both of them, but one just suffice for now.

      • Raziel says:

Baines was freaking unlucky yesterday though. Everton as well. Baines was running at the goalie alone so when he was fouled the Stoke player should’ve been send off. Shortly after Stoke scored. Kind of unfair. Remind a similar situation from a couple of weeks ago when Everton played I think Crystal Palace? They were 3-0 ahead, they should’ve had a free kick but the ref let them play on even though there was no advantage and out of that situation Crystal Palace scored.

Not even talking about how close Baines has been to assist/scoring. Sighs. I think dude has been unlucky, I get why people ship him out but I really don’t see the point. He will come good, I’ll keep f-ing saying that. smile

        • NIN says:

They’re still one of the worst teams in the league, form wise. One win from 6, cant win at home against the likes of Hull and Stoke. One or two decisions going against them doesn’t really make up for the the rest of it.

        • Raziel says:

Shurgs, Sunderland lost to Hull at home yesterday. Never saw that one coming either. We’ll see.

        • Raziel says:

Just noticed in 4 of their last 5 games they conceded just 1 goal. Not 2 or 3. SO that really is kind of unlucky. Soton was the only game they were really dominated.

        • Raziel says:

          Shurgs hahaha. New word.

        • NIN says:

They’re out of form mate, big time. Results don’t lie. They’re not scoring many and are conceding shit loads. Last 6 games : Scored 5, conceded 9. I don’t think that’s down to luck, more down to bad form.
