Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 19

All 10 fixtures in one day is the way we like it. With such a quick turnaround, there is no time to mope around and contemplate destroying your team because a Frenchman decided to stick his head somewhere other than between a woman’s legs. It was a high scoring game-week for many and the FF247 site team was not about to be left out in the cold. So let’s get around the grounds and see what our starting 11 produced. In goal we had trusty Joe Hart. His hands are the best around, we particularly like it when he goes out to punch a ball, sooooo secure in the air. :whatever:

Transitioning over to our defence we put the microscope on our SUPER HIGH priced jewel Leighton Baines. Frankly the only thing we can say about our relationship with him is that we are keeping him because we think he is a good luck charm. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but we still own him so any justification for said ownership would probably sound crazier. So yeah, he is our lucky rabbit’s foot. If you have been keeping up with our site articles you will know that we said that Toby Alderweireld would score a goal. We never specified when, but we feel this is a good time to remind you all that we said it. However don’t go kneeling before us, remember we still own Baines. Our last place in defence was taken up by Taylor or Naylor(for the hip crowd) from Swansea. He was able to garner a bonus point to go along with his clean sheet. In a week with very few clean sheets, this was a welcomed inclusion to our game-week.

Moving along to our midfield. Stewart Downing failed to deliver a goal or an assist for the first time since we have owned him. To be fair to him though he was facing the vaunted Chelsea side. So he is forgiven, in part because the rest of his midfield mates picked up the slack. The Viking Eriksen scored the winner for Spurs, but more importantly scored 8 points for our side. His 61 points when playing away are tops in FPL. Our new signing David Silva was under a lot of pressure to deliver. As our transfer out of Hazard for him looked to backfire after the Belgian was able to deliver an assist in the opening fixture. However the Spanish maestro quickly turned our frown around as he not only matched the assist, but added a goal and the 3 bonus to give him 8 more points on the game-week than our departee. The last of our current fantastic four in the midfield is the dirty one, Alexis Sanchez. Who by the way was our captain. Let us just say after some of the scoring we saw during the first 9 fixtures it was a scary site to see Alexis miss a penalty. However we knew…ahhh who the hell are we kidding, we were petrified. This meant a certain plummeting down the standings if he did not deliver. He soon shook off his 5 year old type shot on his penalty and was able to deliver a goal and an assist. After the negative and positive points he was able to hand us a double figure game and when multiplied it gave us 20. Another successful captaincy if we do say so ourselves.

Bony was able to double his output from the last time we fielded him. Unfortunately he only scored 1 point last time. So once again he disappointed us, but the same can’t be said of the Charlie “Milkman” Austin. The man just continues to deliver and his impressive 10 goals in his last 9 starts coupled with his price makes him a very popular figure in the FF247 offices. Speaking of popular I bring you Diego Costa and by popular I mean most owned in his case. He might not be a crowd favourite, but his first double figure game since week 4 will alleviate some of the stench that has been circulating around him and his production. On a side note the ever well behaved Costa managed to not get a yellow card this time, call it a belated Christmas miracle.

We scored 85 points for the week. We moved up 355 places and now sit in a global position of 643rd. This is our highest ranking of the season and hopefully we can continue to climb higher.

Transfer(s) for GW18 So to confirm our transfer we have – Sold Kyle Bartley for Pablo Zabaleta We know that the transfer could have some possible rotation in his team, but we could not pass up the chance to have Zabaleta feature against Burnley for us and with the rest he’s just had, hopefully against Sunderland also on New Year’s day. We think he is worth the transfer and hope he goes forward a lot more than our dear friend Baines has been lately.

Our team in full… Captain Our captain this week is Charlie Austin He has earned this opportunity with his home displays and considering he gave us a hat trick of happiness last time we captained him, we felt he was the man for the job again. Please no head-butts Charlie. Our Vice Captain this week is David Silva.

The team in text format is –
Hart
Zabaleta, Hutton, Baines
Sanchez, Silva, Eriksen, Downing
Austin (c), Costa, Bony
Bench: Krul. Taylor, Alderweireld, Boyd.

So, did my 2 FT Mangala & Hutton in for Chambers & Jagielka.
    Am I good to go?

Yeah mate team looks right. Hopefully the team sheets don’t tear us all apart. I myself am going to wait on United and Spurs to see what they put out there and might bring in a player or two who is definitely starting right before the deadline.

You’re good to go. Personally I would’ve just replaced Chambers with a defender and Bony with Bentekers. Also, look at the schedule. City have Everton (away), Arsenal (home) and Chelsea (away). Only see them keep a CS versus Everton (maybe). Anyway, still decent moves I guess. :p

      • Raz what schedule you looking at?

        • Raziel says:

After the 2 homegames they face those teams in consecutive order. I’m planning to use the Jan WC as late as possible. So it’s decision time. Buy now, sell later. Buy now, keep during this hard fixtures, and so on. I would def. not double up on City defense with just these 2 good fixtures left. One i would like though. >.<

        • Fair enough. They could just remove one of the City defenders before the tough games, which to be fair might only be Chelsea. Not sure the other two Everton or Arsenal really scare me. But yeah in his case carry him for two games and just drop one before the Everton game if they feel like a clean sheet is not probable.

        • Raziel says:

Arsenal shouldn’t scare City but it’s very likely they will score that game. Arsenal has scored in every game except Chelsea away.

Morning peeps, I haven’t looked at my score yet as I had Olivier as captain. I think I am reaching the point where I am just going to captain the first or second guy in the site poll. Assuming is not Charlie Adam like back in the day or the Joey Barton craze that showed itself a couple of weeks ago.

Should I take a hit and bring in Tekkers for Bony??

      Raziel says:

      Don’t know. Are you gay?

      • MattX says:

Haha no Raz not gay just thinking that Villa have good fixtures and with Bony leaving soon Swansea seem to be resting Bony to see if they can live without him when he goes to ACON

        • Raziel says:

Yeah, planning to maike the same move. Using a FT though, no hit involved. Last week I said Swansea was nothing without Bony (and well he is 10 times better than Gomis), but yesterday he showed nothing, nothing what so ever.

    • 27.2

@Mattx, I am not sure I would take a hit, but I can see Bony being rested faster than Bony. So it could be worth it, but if I knew both would start I wouldn’t. Is not like Benteke has done anything through the season to make him a must have through his next set of games. I know his fixtures look good, but is there such a thing as good fixtures for Villa? I know 3 of their next 4 are at home against relatively weak opposition, but they are actually a better play away this season. They have scored the least amount of goals in the EPL and are tied for last in goals scored at home. Only reason I would go for the move is if you had a gut feeling and felt that Tekkkers was playing well and is only a matter of time before he goes on a scoring run.

      • MattX says:

Ye there all great points Mito. I was just thinking that Bony is leaving soon and Tekkers has been involved in all of Villas chances lately and could get a good few points over the next few games

        • Go with it Matt. I rather be wrong about a gut feeling while making the plunge than be right about it and not take the chance. I know that seems like a popular move around the twitter world. Not looked at numbers to see at what pace he is being bought at but I heard quite a few rumbling about buying him. I think for the site team in particular is that QPR game on the 1st that they are looking at as Bony’s last hurrah.

    Hello all,
that is cruel to have to do so much thinking during the festive period!

    Guzan (Foster)
    Zab Cahill Taylor (Chambers Robertson)
    Hazard Sanchez Downing Siggy (Davis)
    Costa Austin Bony

    I already did Baines->Zab, I have 1FTE and 1.1 ITB.

    I am tempted to do:
    i) Bony->Jovetic, since I have no offensive City coverage. Would be a nice differential too. But who knows whether he will play…

    Alternatively, I could do:
ii) Bony->Benteke, given the nice fixtures,
iii) Robertson to a non-injured defenser, to have everybody fit in case Jose, for instance, benches Cahill, Hazard and Costa…

I obviously miss Silva, but I can hardly accomate him. I do not want to sell Hazard or Sanchez. I would need to sell Bony for a cheap forward, and to take a hit to dump Siggy.

    What do you reckon?

Fitness issues, and also the fact that he’s an atrocious player. Newcastle are a better team when they use him as an impact sub, for me. He gets lost in games very very easily.

    Evening gentlemen.

Could use some opinions on my team for this GW.

Tempted to drop rvp for Kane or someone, allowing me to bring in silva.

    But…

To do that I’d need to swap out a City defender. Do I’d bring in terry for clichy.

    What think you?

Oh. I’d bring silva in for hendo I guess. Rather than downing. But who knows.

      NIN says:

Hi James, good to see you mate. It has been a while! Hmm, i’m not sure about taking a couple of hits to hop around City coverage. Spurs have two tough games coming up too, albeit home games. Difficult nonetheless. Carroll/Benteke in for Bony could work out well. Or indeed Kane, if you need/want big funds for future moves.

      • James101 says:

        Hey NIN. Likewise mate.

I hear you. I like terry right now. Almost got him instead of Zaba but wanted more city, really wanted both terry and zaba.

Silva is in prime position to earn great returns IMO. I’m not dropping yaya for him though and sadly can’t have 4 city!

Rvp not exciting me over Kane so it’s a question of what difference swapping terry and silva in will make.

I like the idea of having an incredible front 7, and back 2, with good additional cover.

I think silva and terry could make up for the hits but I’d love to know who’s starting first…

        • NIN says:

Yeah, you would have to have slight worries about Terry missing one of the next two games. Old legs and all that. Silva should have no problems with game time i think. It would be a fairly aggressive -8 to take. Right up your alley smile
