Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 19
All 10 fixtures in one day is the way we like it. With such a quick turnaround, there is no time to mope around and contemplate destroying your team because a Frenchman decided to stick his head somewhere other than between a woman’s legs. It was a high scoring game-week for many and the FF247 site team was not about to be left out in the cold. So let’s get around the grounds and see what our starting 11 produced. In goal we had trusty Joe Hart. His hands are the best around, we particularly like it when he goes out to punch a ball, sooooo secure in the air. :whatever:
Transitioning over to our defence we put the microscope on our SUPER HIGH priced jewel Leighton Baines. Frankly the only thing we can say about our relationship with him is that we are keeping him because we think he is a good luck charm. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but we still own him so any justification for said ownership would probably sound crazier. So yeah, he is our lucky rabbit’s foot. If you have been keeping up with our site articles you will know that we said that Toby Alderweireld would score a goal. We never specified when, but we feel this is a good time to remind you all that we said it. However don’t go kneeling before us, remember we still own Baines. Our last place in defence was taken up by Taylor or Naylor(for the hip crowd) from Swansea. He was able to garner a bonus point to go along with his clean sheet. In a week with very few clean sheets, this was a welcomed inclusion to our game-week.
Moving along to our midfield. Stewart Downing failed to deliver a goal or an assist for the first time since we have owned him. To be fair to him though he was facing the vaunted Chelsea side. So he is forgiven, in part because the rest of his midfield mates picked up the slack. The Viking Eriksen scored the winner for Spurs, but more importantly scored 8 points for our side. His 61 points when playing away are tops in FPL. Our new signing David Silva was under a lot of pressure to deliver. As our transfer out of Hazard for him looked to backfire after the Belgian was able to deliver an assist in the opening fixture. However the Spanish maestro quickly turned our frown around as he not only matched the assist, but added a goal and the 3 bonus to give him 8 more points on the game-week than our departee. The last of our current fantastic four in the midfield is the dirty one, Alexis Sanchez. Who by the way was our captain. Let us just say after some of the scoring we saw during the first 9 fixtures it was a scary site to see Alexis miss a penalty. However we knew…ahhh who the hell are we kidding, we were petrified. This meant a certain plummeting down the standings if he did not deliver. He soon shook off his 5 year old type shot on his penalty and was able to deliver a goal and an assist. After the negative and positive points he was able to hand us a double figure game and when multiplied it gave us 20. Another successful captaincy if we do say so ourselves.
Bony was able to double his output from the last time we fielded him. Unfortunately he only scored 1 point last time. So once again he disappointed us, but the same can’t be said of the Charlie “Milkman” Austin. The man just continues to deliver and his impressive 10 goals in his last 9 starts coupled with his price makes him a very popular figure in the FF247 offices. Speaking of popular I bring you Diego Costa and by popular I mean most owned in his case. He might not be a crowd favourite, but his first double figure game since week 4 will alleviate some of the stench that has been circulating around him and his production. On a side note the ever well behaved Costa managed to not get a yellow card this time, call it a belated Christmas miracle.
We scored 85 points for the week. We moved up 355 places and now sit in a global position of 643rd. This is our highest ranking of the season and hopefully we can continue to climb higher.
Transfer(s) for GW18 So to confirm our transfer we have – Sold Kyle Bartley for Pablo Zabaleta We know that the transfer could have some possible rotation in his team, but we could not pass up the chance to have Zabaleta feature against Burnley for us and with the rest he’s just had, hopefully against Sunderland also on New Year’s day. We think he is worth the transfer and hope he goes forward a lot more than our dear friend Baines has been lately.
Our team in full… Captain Our captain this week is Charlie Austin He has earned this opportunity with his home displays and considering he gave us a hat trick of happiness last time we captained him, we felt he was the man for the job again. Please no head-butts Charlie. Our Vice Captain this week is David Silva.
The team in text format is –
Hart
Zabaleta, Hutton, Baines
Sanchez, Silva, Eriksen, Downing
Austin (c), Costa, Bony
Bench: Krul. Taylor, Alderweireld, Boyd.

I have a bad feeling about next Gameweek: most players are playing away with iffy fixtures, big names could be rested, fatigue will set in. Things look even worse for myself, as I haven’t had consecutive green arrows since GW9 etc, hopefully I’m wrong.
Hey James what a great score well done mate your team looks great it’s going to be the same for everyone we need to pick the right Cap who is going to play all the best for the tm
Hi Silverback, ahh cheers mate, yeah we’re all in for a bumpy ride. Who are you thinking of capping? I reckon Austin’s the man for me this week.
James it’s a toss up between Austin & Silva really not sure
Cant complain with a top 10k spot mate 😉 I’ve geared my last four transfers towards these next two GWs. I think there’s huge potential to crack the top 1k now with a nice diff or two, of the premium player variety.
Absolutely not. sounds like you’re a man with a mean plan! Who are your key differentials in mind? I’ve made my tranfers already don’t worry… 😉
The last four i’ve brought in, together, are my big differential. Cissokho, Zabaleta, Yaya, Silva. 0% of the top 1k have all 4, according to FFFix. van Persie also has low ownership so a big haul from him would go a long way too.
Sounds good NIN, very good indeed. RvP and Zaba are big bucks that look set to deliver. All the best for tomorrow.
Thanks. Same to you
Whilst the forum is a bit busier than earlier: Thoughts on Yaya or Silva as (c) this GW? Ta.
I’d go Yaya, Silva in the last 2 games has been subbed off around the 60th minute whilst Yaya has played the full 90. Also Burnley players will foul a lot meaning Free kick= Yaya
It’s not really NIN it’s just those 3 talking monkeys and eating WhatsApp in Hindu
I’m seriously considering Silva myself mate. Looks like everyone’s being sucked in by Austin and I may yet be but the holes that Milner is creating mean Silva is virtually playing a false 9. And it’s against Burnley….
init – Yeah, there’s a potential hat-trick there really, isn’t there? To be honest, i think the same with Yaya! City really could have a field day with this lot. Hmm.
Silva for me mate. If City don’t get a penalty, then I’d say it’s far more likely that Silva will score than Yaya, as he’s playing further up the pitch.
Dont go for big names this GW cause thare is a great probability that they would be rested
Who are you going for Kaumil?
kaumil – That would leave me to choose between Wisdom, Cissokho, Downing and Kane. Why limit the most important player of my GW (my captain) to these players when i have the likes of triple City, Costa, Hazard, van Persie?? (vc) is there if needs be, ya know?
Thanks for the responses guys, much appreciated
So, one vote for Yaya, two for Silva. I lean toward Yaya myself, but the arguments for Silva make perfect sense.
Just to square it up, Yaya Nin.
Ha ha – if I had Silva, I’d have him over Yaya for captain? Did you bring him in for Sanchez? If ya, then I’d say caotain him. V
Thanks Dreamers Yeah i bought Yaya today in place of Sanchez mate. It’s a short term deal until i wildcard the shit out of the place in a few GW’s.
Can’t go far wrong with the wc just around the corner. I just got Sanchez in for the first time this Gw.
Yeah mate, that’s the idea. I’ll have Sanchez back whenever i play it. Looking at the GW after FA Cup week. I see you’ve made a few trades. Who’ve you bought?
Hey nin – Sanchez, Austin n wisdom in for baines, Carroll and Baines for a minus 4
Nice. I’d love to have Austin in my team for the next couple of games. cant afford him though.
Hey all, seems it was a great GW for most. I climbed to 6728
Anyway here is my current team:
Pantilimon (Heaton)
Hutton N.Taylor Baines (Bertrand Wisdom)
Siggy Hazard Sanchez Yaya V (King)
Austin C, Costa, Carroll
0.5m itb and 2FT
Im starting to feel Rooney might be some FPL gold… He was always a threat going forward against Newcastle. I really think Silva will outshine Yaya now as well (Yaya has AFCON soon anyway)…. and I am OVER Baines… with Jagielka injured their defense will be even worse… So my evil plan is to take a 4PH doing Carroll, Yaya and Baines out for Rooney, Silva and Janmaat (well have 5.6m for a defender. Reason Janmaat is he gets up, Newcastle have some decent fixtures coming up besides the Chelsea game and when Krul is back I think they will be very tight at the back).
So… worth it?
PP
Looks sound moves to me, the only thing I’d be concerned about would be Rooney playing in the Midfield at the moment, but that doesn’t seem to stop him 😉
Duthers
He was amazing yesterday… strikers nose always wants to be in the box haha.
I just cant see how LvG will include Di Maria in that attack… will be scarey since yesterday it seemed Rooney and Co where having a lot of fun going forward.
Would you bring in Janmaat or Jones/Evans instead? Think UTD are starting to sort their defense out a bit and think Jones might beat Evans in the pecking order…
Maybe, the United defense the last few weeks has been DDG. Not many defenders have stood out this year in the range besides Clyne to be honest
Yeah and I have him already haha.
United have had terrible luck with injuries… Jones and Evans have come back and played the last 3 or 4 games which Utd have kept 1 CS and only conceded 1 goal in the others
This is my current team- Problems are No City or United players, Baines and Clyne and maybe Chadli and maybe Bony :cuss:
I feel like i need Silva or Yaya or i will see red arrow again However that means taking out Hazard or Sanchez who have both been doing really well recently. I’d really want a midfield of Silva, Hazard and Sanchez + Downing. Am i spending too much on defenders? At the start of the season all my money was on attack now it’s all in defense and mid *sigh* Does anyone have magic dust they can put over my team and make it good again?
Baines and Chadli out for Silva and a a defender, see whats left to upgrade elsewhere later on.
Im done with Baines
PP
1 option I’ve come up with is Silva for Chadli, Mangala for Baines and Benteke for Bony? Mangala as i Believe he is the only nailed city coverage in defense besides Kompany ?
Kompany is nailed on, Mangala will swap with Demi I think (when Kompany is fully fit though)
Mangala should be a decent punt though. Not sure about Benteke, no point taking hits when its not really needed. I have only taken 1 4PH his season… so far haha
Reason Silva over Yaya is that his more up forward and Yaya has AFCON soon
Yeah, I’ve only taken one hit and that is when all my players decided to get sent off. cheers
duthers – I reckon that that’s a worthwhile hit mate.
Benteke for Bony?
Swansea have some hard games coming up…
But Benteke’s next 4 are good.
Might be worth it. Personally Im trying to avoid hits
Hey Duthers, I think the obvious might be Chadli to Silva and Baines to whomever you can afford.
That would leave me a defender at 5.4 or below, whilst Bentekkers in for Bony would leave 6.1. Benteke would mean -4 however. What do you think?
I think bar the last 2 games, Bony has been golden so I’d personally hold him.
Giroud screwed me over bringing him in and making him captain. This week I need to go with one of the following options so please help me out : I have 2FT and 1.3 itb.
Option 1:
Giroud > Austin ( Kicked 9 goals in 9 games at home and is versing Crystal Palace )
Clyne > Bruce ( Hull versing Leicester , Leicester have only scored away in 3 games out of 9 )
Sigurdson > Sanchez ( Sanchez is a must have at this stage ) Will give me a -4 and leave me with 0.5 itb.
Option 2:
Giroud > Austin
De Gea > Hart ( Man City’s next 3 Burnley, Sunderland, Everton )
Option 3:
Giroud > Austin
Sterling > Sanchez
Leaves me with 0.3 itb
Option 4:
Giroud > Austin
Clyne > Mangala ( will mangala start though
Given you have Zab I don’t think you need any city defensive coverage so that rules out option 2 + 4. I don’t know how much money you have but does doing Giroud – Austin leave you enough money for Yaya or failing that Silva to upgrade from Downing?
Giroud > Austin leaves me with 3.4
Giroud to austin…. siggy to silva? Get sanchez with jan wildcard
Option 3 for me
Only thing i worry about is he just scored and liverpool have a good run of fixtures and he is the only likely one to score
I have no faith in Liverpool… Sterling will shine when Sturridge is back. I can wait till then
