Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 19

All 10 fixtures in one day is the way we like it. With such a quick turnaround, there is no time to mope around and contemplate destroying your team because a Frenchman decided to stick his head somewhere other than between a woman’s legs. It was a high scoring game-week for many and the FF247 site team was not about to be left out in the cold. So let’s get around the grounds and see what our starting 11 produced. In goal we had trusty Joe Hart. His hands are the best around, we particularly like it when he goes out to punch a ball, sooooo secure in the air. :whatever:

Transitioning over to our defence we put the microscope on our SUPER HIGH priced jewel Leighton Baines. Frankly the only thing we can say about our relationship with him is that we are keeping him because we think he is a good luck charm. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but we still own him so any justification for said ownership would probably sound crazier. So yeah, he is our lucky rabbit’s foot. If you have been keeping up with our site articles you will know that we said that Toby Alderweireld would score a goal. We never specified when, but we feel this is a good time to remind you all that we said it. However don’t go kneeling before us, remember we still own Baines. Our last place in defence was taken up by Taylor or Naylor(for the hip crowd) from Swansea. He was able to garner a bonus point to go along with his clean sheet. In a week with very few clean sheets, this was a welcomed inclusion to our game-week.

Moving along to our midfield. Stewart Downing failed to deliver a goal or an assist for the first time since we have owned him. To be fair to him though he was facing the vaunted Chelsea side. So he is forgiven, in part because the rest of his midfield mates picked up the slack. The Viking Eriksen scored the winner for Spurs, but more importantly scored 8 points for our side. His 61 points when playing away are tops in FPL. Our new signing David Silva was under a lot of pressure to deliver. As our transfer out of Hazard for him looked to backfire after the Belgian was able to deliver an assist in the opening fixture. However the Spanish maestro quickly turned our frown around as he not only matched the assist, but added a goal and the 3 bonus to give him 8 more points on the game-week than our departee. The last of our current fantastic four in the midfield is the dirty one, Alexis Sanchez. Who by the way was our captain. Let us just say after some of the scoring we saw during the first 9 fixtures it was a scary site to see Alexis miss a penalty. However we knew…ahhh who the hell are we kidding, we were petrified. This meant a certain plummeting down the standings if he did not deliver. He soon shook off his 5 year old type shot on his penalty and was able to deliver a goal and an assist. After the negative and positive points he was able to hand us a double figure game and when multiplied it gave us 20. Another successful captaincy if we do say so ourselves.

Bony was able to double his output from the last time we fielded him. Unfortunately he only scored 1 point last time. So once again he disappointed us, but the same can’t be said of the Charlie “Milkman” Austin. The man just continues to deliver and his impressive 10 goals in his last 9 starts coupled with his price makes him a very popular figure in the FF247 offices. Speaking of popular I bring you Diego Costa and by popular I mean most owned in his case. He might not be a crowd favourite, but his first double figure game since week 4 will alleviate some of the stench that has been circulating around him and his production. On a side note the ever well behaved Costa managed to not get a yellow card this time, call it a belated Christmas miracle.

We scored 85 points for the week. We moved up 355 places and now sit in a global position of 643rd. This is our highest ranking of the season and hopefully we can continue to climb higher.

Transfer(s) for GW18 So to confirm our transfer we have – Sold Kyle Bartley for Pablo Zabaleta We know that the transfer could have some possible rotation in his team, but we could not pass up the chance to have Zabaleta feature against Burnley for us and with the rest he’s just had, hopefully against Sunderland also on New Year’s day. We think he is worth the transfer and hope he goes forward a lot more than our dear friend Baines has been lately.

Our team in full… Captain Our captain this week is Charlie Austin He has earned this opportunity with his home displays and considering he gave us a hat trick of happiness last time we captained him, we felt he was the man for the job again. Please no head-butts Charlie. Our Vice Captain this week is David Silva.

The team in text format is –
Hart
Zabaleta, Hutton, Baines
Sanchez, Silva, Eriksen, Downing
Austin (c), Costa, Bony
Bench: Krul. Taylor, Alderweireld, Boyd.

I have a bad feeling about next Gameweek: most players are playing away with iffy fixtures, big names could be rested, fatigue will set in. Things look even worse for myself, as I haven’t had consecutive green arrows since GW9 etc, hopefully I’m wrong.

Whilst the forum is a bit busier than earlier: Thoughts on Yaya or Silva as (c) this GW? Ta.

Hey all, seems it was a great GW for most. I climbed to 6728 laugh
Anyway here is my current team:
    Pantilimon (Heaton)
    Hutton N.Taylor Baines (Bertrand Wisdom)
Siggy Hazard Sanchez Yaya V (King)
    Austin C, Costa, Carroll
    0.5m itb and 2FT

Im starting to feel Rooney might be some FPL gold… He was always a threat going forward against Newcastle. I really think Silva will outshine Yaya now as well (Yaya has AFCON soon anyway)…. and I am OVER Baines… with Jagielka injured their defense will be even worse… So my evil plan is to take a 4PH doing Carroll, Yaya and Baines out for Rooney, Silva and Janmaat (well have 5.6m for a defender. Reason Janmaat is he gets up, Newcastle have some decent fixtures coming up besides the Chelsea game and when Krul is back I think they will be very tight at the back).

    So… worth it?

Looks sound moves to me, the only thing I’d be concerned about would be Rooney playing in the Midfield at the moment, but that doesn’t seem to stop him 😉

He was amazing yesterday… strikers nose always wants to be in the box haha.
I just cant see how LvG will include Di Maria in that attack… will be scarey since yesterday it seemed Rooney and Co where having a lot of fun going forward.

Would you bring in Janmaat or Jones/Evans instead? Think UTD are starting to sort their defense out a bit and think Jones might beat Evans in the pecking order…

        • duthers says:

Maybe, the United defense the last few weeks has been DDG. Not many defenders have stood out this year in the range besides Clyne to be honest

        • PeterPan says:

Yeah and I have him already haha.
United have had terrible luck with injuries… Jones and Evans have come back and played the last 3 or 4 games which Utd have kept 1 CS and only conceded 1 goal in the others

This is my current team- Problems are No City or United players, Baines and Clyne and maybe Chadli and maybe Bony :cuss:
I feel like i need Silva or Yaya or i will see red arrow again sad However that means taking out Hazard or Sanchez who have both been doing really well recently. I’d really want a midfield of Silva, Hazard and Sanchez + Downing. Am i spending too much on defenders? At the start of the season all my money was on attack now it’s all in defense and mid *sigh* Does anyone have magic dust they can put over my team and make it good again?

Giroud screwed me over bringing him in and making him captain. This week I need to go with one of the following options so please help me out : I have 2FT and 1.3 itb.

    Option 1:
Giroud > Austin ( Kicked 9 goals in 9 games at home and is versing Crystal Palace )
Clyne > Bruce ( Hull versing Leicester , Leicester have only scored away in 3 games out of 9 )
Sigurdson > Sanchez ( Sanchez is a must have at this stage ) Will give me a -4 and leave me with 0.5 itb.

    Option 2:
    Giroud > Austin
De Gea > Hart ( Man City’s next 3 Burnley, Sunderland, Everton )

    Option 3:
    Giroud > Austin
    Sterling > Sanchez
    Leaves me with 0.3 itb

    Option 4:
    Giroud > Austin
Clyne > Mangala ( will mangala start though
