Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 21
Last year was good to us and then this new year started. Perhaps our site team decision makers partied a little bit too hard welcoming 2015 or they just simply had an off day. It was not a pretty sight as 7 of our 11 starters managed 2 points or less. But if we needed any more rubbing it in on how bad the week was we had George Boyd staring from our bench…oh the shame! 42 points was the average for the week and we only secured 36 so it was a quiet day in the FF247 offices. We dropped 662 places and now sit in 1644th place in the overall. With two straight GWs in the 30’s and GW ranks in those said weeks being over 2 million, there was noise of the wildcard coming to the forefront to repair some of the damage. But cooler heads prevailed and for now the Wildcard will be saved, at least for another GW. So let’s get to our round up on how our miserable team did in Gw20 along with the decisions that were made looking at GW21.
In goal we had no one. Hmmm, interesting decision that one. Well we did have Joe Hart, but apparently keepers need to rest while outfield players can play straight through the busy schedule. We know, we know, if we had a back up keeper who was not injured he could have…whatever, stuff happens. Obviously this is a problem we will address with our wildcard, but for the meantime let’s hope Hartsy is not too spent to play the next couple of fixtures.
In our defence we had the ever consistent Leighton Baines. Good to see him back in form, he threw us for a bit of loop last week when he managed 4 whole points in one GW. We were never worried though, we knew he’d get back to his 1 point returns quickly. Pablo Zabaleta apparently caught whatever disease Baines has. Since he joined the squad he has managed a paltry 0 points in his 2 games. Wonderful that, moving on to our rock star of the week Alan Hutton. He once again delivered and put to shame the rest of our backline. His six points this past GW is as much as we have gotten from Zaba, Hart and Baines combined over the last 2. So many heads to chop, so little time…
Moving on to our midfield it was basically the same as above, FFS! Alexis and Downing once again had a disappointing showing as they only garnered 2 points each and our captain Silva decided that he didn’t want to be different so he joined along with a 2 pointer. Shockingly though in a week where just about everything went wrong our transfer miraculously worked out. We brought in Sterling for Eriksen and if anyone told us Spurs would score 5 on Chelsea and that Eriksen was not involved in any of it, we would have thought you were crazy.
Up top we had Austin, whose home form is apparently a myth now, as he once again blanked in what seemed a good fixture. Diego Costa who is now never in need of a rest scored a goal for us. As Jose luckily continues to deploy him despite the busy schedule, going completely against Jose’s recommendation of him needing rest when the fixture list got busy. Got to love when Jose doesn’t respect Jose’s opinion on something. Bony is our last man to report on and he left us with a welcomed parting gift. The Ivorian is now off to AFCON and despite only playing 20 minutes he was able to scoop up 8 points. Let’s move along to our transfer decision and captaincy, we need to put GW20 in the rearview mirror quickly.
Transfer(s) for GW21
We agonised over playing our WC but couldn’t quite justify it just yet. We will in all likelihood coincide that with the return of Aguero and the adjustments that would mean which may in fact be next week assuming he gets a positive cameo against Everton from the bench.
What made it even more difficult was that we had two very pressing issues. One was a player we had and the other was a player we really should have had about six weeks ago and is killing us every week! Bony has obviously gone off to the ACON and so had to go but also the thorn in our side recently has been the absence of a Chelsea midfielder and in particular a one Mr Hazard. We decided to take the Bony loss and turn it into a Hazard gain, particularly as we were unanimous that the little Belgian should be our captain this week until we realised the minor flaw in that plan which was that we didn’t own him – so we fixed that small anomaly with a -4 hit with the in-form Harry Kane sweetening the deal even more. We feel that may pay off and was a small risk worth taking.
So to confirm our transfers we have –
Sold Wilfried Bony – Bought Harry Kane
Sold Raheem Sterling – Bought Eden Hazard
