Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 24

wp_ss_20150202_0002So after playing our wildcard we were hoping for a bit of a climb up the overall. Luckily enough we managed a solid score of 80 points, which was easily higher than the average of 46. This allowed us to climb 547 spots landing us in 1236th place and hopefully putting us in a position to jump back into the top 1k. Three of our players made the dream team for the game-week and although our wildcard was not a smashing success, it was definitely still a positive for our team. Besides there wasn’t too many wise semi flightless birds (Init) that thought to bring in Jon Walters before his 19 points with their wildcard. Even though we didn’t count on the Stoke grey haired somewhat Irish-ish Englishman, mid-ish/forward to score a scruffy hat-trick, we still did have some good contributors that we will go over now.

In goal we had the Colombian David Ospina. As we all know around these parts, Colombians are very, very trustworthy. Ospina has now kept a clean sheet in his 3 appearances for Arsenal and is off to a flying start with the FF247 team as one of our new signings. Despite him not being Miss Universe cute his returns are still prettier than what we were getting back from the English ‘Hart’throb. In defence we had the exemplary human being known as John Terry. Who might have missed out on a clean sheet this past GW, but we expect that our faith in him (strictly as a player) will be repaid in FPL points over the coming weeks. Another one who failed to deliver was Mr. Facial expression himself Phil Jones. Nevertheless we are sure that with United’s fixtures that he is more than capable of keeping a clean sheet, well for 80 minutes or so until he loses his marker and a guy who hasn’t scored in 3 years manages a goal. In the ridiculous tradition of having our fodder bench player outdo our higher priced defenders. PVA as he is known by the FPL community grabbed us a wonderful 12 points. Aanholt could be the new Hutton!

Moving along to our midfield we find one of our new signings Mighty Mouse, Santi Cazorla. What a signing he was for us! With 17 points he certainly did his part and much more. One of the few players from the pre-WC team that was able to retain his spot on our squad was Hazard. With good reason that, as he managed 8 points in a week where he was given all 3 bonus points despite only registering an assist in the game. Our two other new acquisitions were both handed a debut start and were unable to score more than 2 points. Hopefully Adam Johnson and Jason Puncheon can earn their keep next week if they are allowed a second opportunity to prove their worth.

As we analyze our front line, we notice that a certain RVP was able to collect 7 points for us and when doubled for being our captain we are handed a elementary math question to answer. Guessing that 14 is that total, it is a nice number to add to our 13 point contribution from Harry Kane. Kane who came in off the bench for the injured Sanchez for us, was a proper demonstration of highly skilled luck from us. Our third spot was taken by boy toy Graziano Pelle who looked as good as ever, except for the part where he actually got us any points.

Having recapped how our squad performed last GW, let us now move along to our transfer decision and line up for the upcoming week.

Transfer for GW22

As stated last week, the plan all along was to have RVP keep the place warm for Sergio “Kun” Aguero for a week. Now that the Argentinian has cleared Chelsea, we feel that the time to buy is now. We thank the former Arsenal man for his service and applaud him for putting away that goal in an offside position vs Leicester. We will continue to monitor the situation with Alexis Sanchez, but the hope is that he is ready for the North London Derby. In case of emergency, we will have the Chelsea physio check him, who surely will have him UP and ready.

So to confirm our transfer we have –

Sold Robin van Persie and Bought Sergio Aguero

Our team in full…

This week we revert back to the 3-4-3 and this time by choice. We had a discussion over the keepers and feel that Pulis will have found a bigger bus to park after surrendering 3 goals last week and have decided to go for Foster. Perhaps a bit difficult considering Ospina’s form, but we feel that Spurs and Arsenal are two sides that traditionally like an up and down game. Terry of course gets the start with Clyne as the no brainers in our back 3. PVA gets the nod over Jones also based on what seems the easier fixture on paper. In the midfield we drop AJ to the bench as first sub and if Alexis is unable to play he will come in and hopefully get us another 13 points like Kane did the previous GW. Up top we run our 3 strikers out there led by our new acquisition Sergio Aguero.

Captain

Our captain this week is Aguero
Could it really be anyone else this week? I guess in theory it could, but we are not about to turn away from Kun with his fixture. Don’t think we actually went through the process of debating the decision, we all just kinda knew he would carry the armband.

Our vice-captain is Eden Hazard

The team in text format is –

Foster
van Aanholt, Clyne, Terry
Sanchez, Puncheon, Hazard, Cazorla
Aguero, Pelle, Kane

Bench: Ospina. Johnson, Jones, Baird.

Greetings from Oz. Not sure if this post will get accepted given what’s left of my credibility after vouching for Pelle in front of the world on FFFix last week. Boy did the Southampton strategy backfire last week. Cheers Mr Bertrand!

Anyhow, team this week as follows. My main question is whether I should start Krul (H v Stoke) or Heaton (H v WBA). Cheers.

    Krul/Heaton
    Terry Clyne Kompany (Wasi Duff)
    SIlva Ozil Hazard Sterling (Boyd)
    Aguero(C) Kane Pelle

Needless to say Pelle on his last chance.

Like it, wish I had left a little more money for my defence like you have. Looks like it will cause me problems soon.
I’d log out of fantasy now and watch the points role in laugh

about to confirm Bertrand to Zouma…Anything better to do? Or should I just straight swap Clyne in?

Hate leaving my transfers till Saturday morning!

Zouma risky. But if you think it will work out.

      • AT says:

I’ve done it. My thought process being that if it doesn’t pay off this week, I can bite the bullet and use the funds next week to upgrade Baird; that way Zouma’s game time won’t be of concern as i will have four playing defenders.

Yeah that sounds sort of silly now. Oh well, impetuous decisions ALWAYS work out 😉

        • Raziel says:

Cahilll only played 1 minute las gw, that’s the main reason for me to stay away from cheaper Chelsea coverage in the back. THE RISK! Mourinho like to put in shitty defenders after 70’s minutes like Mikel/Cahill. Terrible tactics but it works. Park the bus. >.< Sighs.

Heaton WBA (H) or Ospina Spuds (A)?

    Wildcard team;
    Pantsu – Mannone
    Wisdom – Naughton – Kompany – Azpi – vanAanholt
    Walcott – Hazard – Silva – Cazorla – JWP
    Giroud – Kane – Kun

Team looks perfect to me. Problem is that I’ll be 0.2m short to do Wally to Sanchez Tuesday. So I need to get 0.2m from somewhere. Like Pantsu/Man but I could also go for a 4.0 non playing goalie. Wisdom to a 4.3m player? Downgrade vanAanholt to a 4m defender? Whut? Anyone?
