Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 24

wp_ss_20150202_0002So after playing our wildcard we were hoping for a bit of a climb up the overall. Luckily enough we managed a solid score of 80 points, which was easily higher than the average of 46. This allowed us to climb 547 spots landing us in 1236th place and hopefully putting us in a position to jump back into the top 1k. Three of our players made the dream team for the game-week and although our wildcard was not a smashing success, it was definitely still a positive for our team. Besides there wasn’t too many wise semi flightless birds (Init) that thought to bring in Jon Walters before his 19 points with their wildcard. Even though we didn’t count on the Stoke grey haired somewhat Irish-ish Englishman, mid-ish/forward to score a scruffy hat-trick, we still did have some good contributors that we will go over now.

In goal we had the Colombian David Ospina. As we all know around these parts, Colombians are very, very trustworthy. Ospina has now kept a clean sheet in his 3 appearances for Arsenal and is off to a flying start with the FF247 team as one of our new signings. Despite him not being Miss Universe cute his returns are still prettier than what we were getting back from the English ‘Hart’throb. In defence we had the exemplary human being known as John Terry. Who might have missed out on a clean sheet this past GW, but we expect that our faith in him (strictly as a player) will be repaid in FPL points over the coming weeks. Another one who failed to deliver was Mr. Facial expression himself Phil Jones. Nevertheless we are sure that with United’s fixtures that he is more than capable of keeping a clean sheet, well for 80 minutes or so until he loses his marker and a guy who hasn’t scored in 3 years manages a goal. In the ridiculous tradition of having our fodder bench player outdo our higher priced defenders. PVA as he is known by the FPL community grabbed us a wonderful 12 points. Aanholt could be the new Hutton!

Moving along to our midfield we find one of our new signings Mighty Mouse, Santi Cazorla. What a signing he was for us! With 17 points he certainly did his part and much more. One of the few players from the pre-WC team that was able to retain his spot on our squad was Hazard. With good reason that, as he managed 8 points in a week where he was given all 3 bonus points despite only registering an assist in the game. Our two other new acquisitions were both handed a debut start and were unable to score more than 2 points. Hopefully Adam Johnson and Jason Puncheon can earn their keep next week if they are allowed a second opportunity to prove their worth.

As we analyze our front line, we notice that a certain RVP was able to collect 7 points for us and when doubled for being our captain we are handed a elementary math question to answer. Guessing that 14 is that total, it is a nice number to add to our 13 point contribution from Harry Kane. Kane who came in off the bench for the injured Sanchez for us, was a proper demonstration of highly skilled luck from us. Our third spot was taken by boy toy Graziano Pelle who looked as good as ever, except for the part where he actually got us any points.

Having recapped how our squad performed last GW, let us now move along to our transfer decision and line up for the upcoming week.

Transfer for GW22

As stated last week, the plan all along was to have RVP keep the place warm for Sergio “Kun” Aguero for a week. Now that the Argentinian has cleared Chelsea, we feel that the time to buy is now. We thank the former Arsenal man for his service and applaud him for putting away that goal in an offside position vs Leicester. We will continue to monitor the situation with Alexis Sanchez, but the hope is that he is ready for the North London Derby. In case of emergency, we will have the Chelsea physio check him, who surely will have him UP and ready.

So to confirm our transfer we have –

Sold Robin van Persie and Bought Sergio Aguero

Our team in full…

wp_ss_20150202_0002

This week we revert back to the 3-4-3 and this time by choice. We had a discussion over the keepers and feel that Pulis will have found a bigger bus to park after surrendering 3 goals last week and have decided to go for Foster. Perhaps a bit difficult considering Ospina’s form, but we feel that Spurs and Arsenal are two sides that traditionally like an up and down game. Terry of course gets the start with Clyne as the no brainers in our back 3. PVA gets the nod over Jones also based on what seems the easier fixture on paper. In the midfield we drop AJ to the bench as first sub and if Alexis is unable to play he will come in and hopefully get us another 13 points like Kane did the previous GW. Up top we run our 3 strikers out there led by our new acquisition Sergio Aguero.

Captain

Our captain this week is Aguero
Could it really be anyone else this week? I guess in theory it could, but we are not about to turn away from Kun with his fixture. Don’t think we actually went through the process of debating the decision, we all just kinda knew he would carry the armband.

Our vice-captain is Eden Hazard

The team in text format is –

Foster
van Aanholt, Clyne, Terry
Sanchez, Puncheon, Hazard, Cazorla
Aguero, Pelle, Kane

Bench: Ospina. Johnson, Jones, Baird.

Johnson and Sanchez are injury doubts.
Bench Sanchez and bring in Gouffran for Johnson maybe?

    I have 1 FT.

I’d like to bring Kun for RVP in but 2 injured midfielders is an issue. :/

Hi wengaboy, I have / had a very similar situation with 2 potentially injured mids in Sanchez and Walters. Given as I only Wildcarded last week, as I suspect you may have also, I have a fairly strong bench as do you so I just went ahead and did the same RvP to Aguero switch. If neither makes it then I’ve got JWP and Jones coming in. Weighing that up against Aguero vs Hull wasn’t difficult really. Obviously he could blank but he’s just as likely to get a hat-trick.

    My front 8 is giving me a massive headache! The oppressors of my happiness include;
Hazard, Cazorla, Silva (These 3 will play) Elia(v QPR) Puncheon(V Leicester)
Aguero(hardly in doubt) Kane and Giroud
Any pointers on who to leave out?

      inittowinit says:

Hi TETH, I’d leave out Puncheon but in all honesty that’s a coin toss with Elia. QPR now become an unknown quantity in all honesty with Harry gone. Could go either way. That narrow pitch is a concern for Saints too given how they play but as I say, who knows.

Puncheon is sitting out atm, Ill weigh up my options over night, never make an important decision after 10pm 😉

I leave out Elia only based on the possibility that he won’t start.

      • inittowinit says:

That’s true. Mane is threatening him and Tadic now. Saints could become a bit of a nightmare for rotation in fact now with Wanyama and Schneiderlin also back.

I might cry myself to sleep, wake up, flip a coin, the travel to an away game in which my team is playing against top of the league, the makings of a horrible weekend! PVA on the bench last week hurt, but at least I got 82

I’d have puncheon as the first sub but in all fairness sits not a bad fixture at all so I dunno but still yea.
But I think Ellis has a better fixtur with a manageress already really bad qpr so I’d play him as I’d expect him to even have a good chance of scoring from the bench.
Frustrates ing as there’s always the chance he’ll just do a cameo and mess EVERYTHING up lol.

I’m doing my wildcard squad and i am looking at doubling up with terry and azplicueta, so yeah its looking good

Perhaps, but I always prefer my two premium defenders to be from two different teams, Id just bank on Clyne or Fonte, go with your instinct I suppose

        • am4r77 says:

this is what i have so far

          De gea (hamer)

clyne, azplicueta, terry (van Aanholt and moore)

di marja, silva, hazard, cazorla (boyd)

          Ings, aguero, kane

          Anything you would change?

        • TETH, Social drinker and (Former)firm believer of the Abel Hernandez bandwagon. Also the self proclaimed most inactive ff247 member this season. says:

All in all a very good team, anything in the bank? With time I would probably cheapen di Maria to Chadli or eriksen or the like and upgrade boyd of ings, cant see the idea behind carrying two Burnley players even if they are bench dwellers, just gives you no room for rotation

        • am4r77 says:

I’ve got wasilweski instead of Van Aanholt

        • TETH, Social drinker and (Former)firm believer of the Abel Hernandez bandwagon. Also the self proclaimed most inactive ff247 member this season. says:

You got rid of PVA for Was? Why?

        • am4r77 says:

I accidentally made the mistake Teth of trying to sell de gea to someone and hamer was 2nd on the team sheet. But i forget about the de gea price change i changed it back to normal, cause i realised i didn’t like it and it didn’t work so i needed a defender which was 0.2 mill cheaper silly mistake i know!!

        • billisBob says:

Yea I agree with teth here – I’d generally have two different defenders.
Looking at your team tho I must say it doesn’t seem to be hurting your team to have 3 premium defenders, so I’d say keep them for now, but font be afraid to sell one – you also have the advantage of the extra cash then too!

        • am4r77 says:

Cheers Billis aint seen you on here in a long time. is there any slight changes you would make or is it all good to go I’m going with aguero as captain aswell.

        • billisBob says:

The only things I’d say is that maybe if you have the extra cash you could try to get a west bro, defender in?
Also I think ings is class but I’m not sure he’ll be at his best until his future is decided so I might go for austin, but I realize he’s a bit more expensive so that may not be an option. Sacko is also but but he may be out of reach too… Like I said tho I don’t think ings is a bad pick, but I think you might get more consistency with the extra cash…

And yeahhh school has been damn hard ATM. I was sure I’d have some time to be online recently as we’ve had a few snow days here in Massachusetts, but we literally got so much homework it’d been easier to walk to school in the freeing cold, phoned up all my teachers and done the work we would have done than the useless drag of time consumeing snow work we got.
          Rant over. Haha

    Yoyoyo people
So I really want to get Walcott as I’m a huge fan of his, but I’m reluctant to sell any of my midfielders. They consist I’d fabregas silva hazard and Sanchez Obviously I’m not afraid to sell albrighton as he’s not been given a chance, but what can you work with a 4.2 mil guy. I’m short in defense and am thinking of buying belerin for Hutton, but I’m extremely tempted by Kert zooma who started the last three in place of Cahill. Not sure if he’ll keep his spot tho is the thing…

Anyway and replies are appreciated as I know I haven’t been online at all lately at all and aren’t owed any replies by anyone – anything I get is put in debt haha. I’m not gonna make any promises now as I know can’t keep them sad had three science tests and an essay last week, and the work is relentless – never looks like stopping. I think I have a free 30mins or so now though!! Woohoo okay bye.

I actually think you need to sacrifice a midfielder, your defence is incredibly weak, and your attack only carries one big hitter as such, if you want Walcott Id be inclined to sacrifice Fab and upgrade Hutton to a Chelsea defender(Terry azpil take your pick) upgrade yun to maybe Bellerin, upgrade Gilks to Krul, now Im only going off the assumption you have money ITB?

        • TETH, Social drinker and (Former)firm believer of the Abel Hernandez bandwagon. Also the self proclaimed most inactive ff247 member this season. says:

If you dont Id scrap your Walcott idea unless you want to downgrade Sanchez and then sort out that defence smile

        • billisBob says:

Yea I’m it’s utter crap I kinda sold all the people I made money on like siggy and aguero and clyne and just wased it buying them back in aguero and clones sence, or bought players thats prices were already sky high like hazard and to a certain extent austin.

I’ve been pathetic this season – I’ve got 0.4 in the bank and i don’t think I’ll match my top 1000 finish of last season. I miss the time I used to have…

Anyway I do certainly need a defender that’s good haha. I mean I recently sold azapi so I mean if you know what I mean I should buy him back as I need the cash but I’ve made so many backwards moves like this already I don’t really want to lol. I will end up doing that but it’s just a matter of when I think. Also hazard is the most likely to go from the mid I think because of cash but I mean then I’d have to buy back costa who I sold when I made tons of money on him!!

Reading this through I should have never even made a transfer this season… What a fail I am. :/ anyway, I just don’t wanna sell a guy who’ll do we’ll or score…

Do you see fab slowing his consistancy any time soon? Or siva getting injured? I’m so lost lol.

          Thanks for the help btw

Still boot him tho. For Hutton. Yea. I mean it’s a an upgrade if only a temporary one.
I need someone to get injured.

        • billisBob says:

Capping silva! Time to go big or go home! Did my proud last season when I capped him In the same fixture!

If it fails I may stay home tho. Where no one can see your face. And the tears.

I haven’t been on recently but I have had enough time to make my latest draft for my WC squad.

I have a bit of a dilemma and that is – what to do with Downing? I bought him for 5.6mil and he is now worth 6.6mil, which means I’ll lose 0.5mil if I sell him now. He does have a good fixture in GW 27 (the week Haz, etc. are out) and I do want him at the end of year where he has good fixtures. Is it worth keeping him and not transferring to Colback/JWP (and Naughton/Wisdom to Clyne/Fonte)? Thoughts on what I should do?

Also, I have left some cash to get Sanchez for Leicester if he indeed returns. Thoughts?

    • 23.1
      billisBob says:

I think I’d keep downing for now as he’s done well enough so far!! If he blanks a few times in a row, then think about selling him I say.
That being said, I think son’tons defense is a bit of a must especially seeing how they did against the big teams, so I would wa nt to get someone in some how. I don’t see coleback being an able replacement though and i do like jwp a lot, but consistency is the only problem I think…

Not sure about double Swansea defence tho… Are you Welsh by chance? Fianski is way overpriced at 5.2 IMO, but naught on could well be a steal…

Like the money saving pics in defence too but make sure to have a backup as it does lack solidity a hot – sort of short a term fixe with belerin I think, but a very very good one at that hahah. Can’t beat him for the price…

      Like the rest tho

      • Nosaj says:

Swansea and Sunderland have the PERFECT rotation for the rest of the year. By having them, you get SUN (H), QPR (H), WBA (H), BUR (A), HUL (A), AVL (H), AVL (A), HUL (H), CRY (H), LEI (A), STO (A), STO (H), EVE (A), LEI (H), CRY (A) to finish of the year. I don’t care how much the 2 keepers cost combined I want this fixture list! Also with Southampton, I can see QPR scoring this week and with 2 tough(ish) fixtures afterwards, I don’t think it is worth the extra cash.

And no I’m not Welsh, I’m from Australia 😉 Btw thanks for helping
