Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 9

Where do we begin ?!! GW8 was just one of those game-weeks that doesn’t come around very often, where nearly everything we touched turned into points. A final score of 105pts was way beyond our wildest dreams.
It all started at lunchtime on Saturday when Sergio Aguero led the Spurs defence a merry dance as he scored four goals earning us 19pts in the process – it could have been even more had he not missed a penalty. We put the penalty miss behind us and moved onto the 3pm kick-offs. As you will remember, last week we brought in Leighton Baines & Dusan Tadic. We’re still thankful that Sadio Mane did not arrive back on the south coast from international duty until Thursday as this led us to getting Tadic over the Sengalese man and we certainly did not regret our decision as the Serbian international rewarded us with 23pts as the Saints ran riot against Sunderland. Baines didn’t let us down either as the Everton man weighed in with 15pts. Danny Welbeck and Cesc Fabregas also made notable contributions with a goal each, with Welbeck picking up a solitary bonus point and Cesc picking up two. Thanks to another Southampton clean sheet Toby Alderweireld chipped in with 6pts and you know you’re in for a good game-week when Tim Krul weighs in with 6pts thanks to a rare Newcastle clean sheet. So as Saturday drew to a close we were sat on a rather impressive 84pts with another 8 to come off the bench in the form of George Boyd who was set to replace the injured Diego Costa. At one stage chants of “we’re gonna win the league, we’re gonna win the league” reverberated around the FF247 offices, but we soon calmed down as it’s only October and only Arsenal win the league in October!
And so we moved onto Sunday and while we were still on a high from Saturday we were not expecting a ‘Super Sunday’ and so it turned out to be the case as we accumulated a total of 3 points from our Swansea pair of Taylor and Sigurdsson. The gameweek came to a conclusion on Monday night and we had high hopes – we still had our captain, Angel di Maria to play. It could be huge, maybe 120/125pts? Well, sadly (it’s all relative) it wasn’t to be, a solitary assist brought the midfielder a 10pt haul, taking us through the century mark.
So a quite magnificent week saw the team rocket up the rankings into a global position of 679 with 508pts. Finally, we would just like to point out that we are now top of our national league – Bonaire, Saint Eustatius and Saba – ‘we are top of the league, say we are top of the league’!!

Transfer for GW9

When we first discussed our transfers this week the general consensus in the office was that we should hold onto our transfer but the ongoing situation surrounding Diego Costa has made us nervous and we have decided to move the Chelsea man out. We have:

Sold Diego Costa and replaced him with Southampton’s Graziano Pelle.

It was on Thursday, around midnight, when we finally decided to sell him – the mystery surrounded his condition deepened as it emerged that he had spent some time in hospital with a stomach virus following his return from international duty, while it was also leaked that he has picked up a groin injury rather than a hamstring injury. We could obviously just have left the Spanish international in our starting XI this week in the hope that he features against United on Sunday and then if he didn’t George Boyd would once more climb off the bench. However we felt that the chances of Costa featuring this weekend were fairly remote and we would much rather have Pelle over Boyd. While Saido Berahino and Romelu Lukaku were briefly mentioned as replacements for Costa it was a unanimous decision to bring in Pelle as Southampton are in superb form and they have some great fixtures coming up. Chelsea play QPR next week and there is every possibility that Costa will be fit to face the R’s and if this is the case don’t be too surprised should we bring Costa straight back into the squad next week. We dealt early to ensure we have the cash to do this with just one transfer.

Captain

It will hardly come as a great surprise to learn that we have decided to go with Sergio Aguero as our captain this week. Now we’re not expecting him to score four at West Ham, we actually want five, but in all seriousness we couldn’t ignore him now that he has six in in last four games and has only failed to score on two occasions this season. The likes of Tadic, Pelle & Welbeck are also great options but we couldn’t look beyond the Argentinian.
Our new signing Graziano Pelle will be our vice captain.

And in text format as promised –

Krul
Alderweireld, Taylor, Baines
Di Maria, Fabregas, Sigurdsson, Tadic
Welbeck Pelle (v), Aguero (c)

subs: Boyd, Hutton, Moore. (gk Mannone)

That’s a cracking effort breaking 100 given you didn’t have the captaincy on Aguero or Tadic lads  I’m very pleased with my score given my expected huge red arrow after missing out on Aguero early on in the GW.

Hey guys. Well done on cracking the century, I had a terrible GW compared to most others (did not have Aguero, Baines, Tadic, etc.), only scored 50 points and dropped plenty in the rankings……. Anyway, I have a bit of a dilemma for this week.

My defence is Baines, Clyne, Wisdom, N. Taylor, Vlaar, all of whom have brilliant fixtures.

Baines and maybe Clyne are locks on the field. That leaves Wisdom, N. Taylor and Vlaar. Who should I field and what order should I have them on the bench? And for all those who say toss a coin……. well….. I don’t have a 3 sided coin unfortunately hahaha 😉

Hey peeps, expecting that Angel is fit for the clash against Chelsea on sunday I’ve decided to keep him. Now the question – the last question is. Do I keep Hazard or do I get Sterling and upgrade my bench? Sterling could end up playing as Liverpool’s “striker” tomorrow against Hull. I’m on a wildcard btw.

Well in all honesty, you can just play the team you like. You started the season late so for it won’t be about the ranking anyway. I really like ADM though, rate him higher than Sterling (whom is an exceptional talent), Sterling will probably be on ADM’s level, with a bit of luck.

Also, even though he didn’t look tired against Real Madrid I don’t see that shit going away so fast. He’s body is probably close to complete lockdown. Main reason why I shipped him out. Anyway, go with your cut. My gut told me to release Costa and keep Falcao, many called me crazy. You can do what you want. 😉

        • Cody says:

Raziel – Yeah that’s true. I don’t really pay attention to the ranking, just the gameweek points. I really do like Hazard, he’s phenomenal, but as a Liverpool supporter don’t know if I can go without Sterling. Hmm I’m just going to wait until tomorrow after all pressers and see what’s up before I make the decision. I think you were right in dropping Costa. An injury prone Costa is nowhere near the quality of a fit Falcao. Let’s just hope LvG plays Falcao instead of RvP.

So, IF I decide to keep Costa, these are my options for this gw:

    1) Rodwell + Rafael to Chadli + Hutton (-4) – bench Costa, Marney and one from Ferdinand/Hutton/Duff
    2) Rodwell to Milner (or any other mid up to 5,3) – bench Costa, Marney and Rafael

Currently leaning to 1 as it would give me a longer term option in Chadli (above Milner) and stronger bench options for the following weeks.

    1FT – 0.3 ITB

    Any thoughts?

Hi people, Please RMT. I have 1ft and 0.2 left in the bank (as below). What do you reckon I do with Azpilicueta and Costa? Azpilicueta is out until 8th NOV so I might look to transfer him out. Maybe for filipe luis? And what is with Costa now?
