Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 9

Where do we begin ?!! GW8 was just one of those game-weeks that doesn’t come around very often, where nearly everything we touched turned into points. A final score of 105pts was way beyond our wildest dreams.
It all started at lunchtime on Saturday when Sergio Aguero led the Spurs defence a merry dance as he scored four goals earning us 19pts in the process – it could have been even more had he not missed a penalty. We put the penalty miss behind us and moved onto the 3pm kick-offs. As you will remember, last week we brought in Leighton Baines & Dusan Tadic. We’re still thankful that Sadio Mane did not arrive back on the south coast from international duty until Thursday as this led us to getting Tadic over the Sengalese man and we certainly did not regret our decision as the Serbian international rewarded us with 23pts as the Saints ran riot against Sunderland. Baines didn’t let us down either as the Everton man weighed in with 15pts. Danny Welbeck and Cesc Fabregas also made notable contributions with a goal each, with Welbeck picking up a solitary bonus point and Cesc picking up two. Thanks to another Southampton clean sheet Toby Alderweireld chipped in with 6pts and you know you’re in for a good game-week when Tim Krul weighs in with 6pts thanks to a rare Newcastle clean sheet. So as Saturday drew to a close we were sat on a rather impressive 84pts with another 8 to come off the bench in the form of George Boyd who was set to replace the injured Diego Costa. At one stage chants of “we’re gonna win the league, we’re gonna win the league” reverberated around the FF247 offices, but we soon calmed down as it’s only October and only Arsenal win the league in October!
And so we moved onto Sunday and while we were still on a high from Saturday we were not expecting a ‘Super Sunday’ and so it turned out to be the case as we accumulated a total of 3 points from our Swansea pair of Taylor and Sigurdsson. The gameweek came to a conclusion on Monday night and we had high hopes – we still had our captain, Angel di Maria to play. It could be huge, maybe 120/125pts? Well, sadly (it’s all relative) it wasn’t to be, a solitary assist brought the midfielder a 10pt haul, taking us through the century mark.
So a quite magnificent week saw the team rocket up the rankings into a global position of 679 with 508pts. Finally, we would just like to point out that we are now top of our national league – Bonaire, Saint Eustatius and Saba – ‘we are top of the league, say we are top of the league’!!

Transfer for GW9

When we first discussed our transfers this week the general consensus in the office was that we should hold onto our transfer but the ongoing situation surrounding Diego Costa has made us nervous and we have decided to move the Chelsea man out. We have:

Sold Diego Costa and replaced him with Southampton’s Graziano Pelle.

It was on Thursday, around midnight, when we finally decided to sell him – the mystery surrounded his condition deepened as it emerged that he had spent some time in hospital with a stomach virus following his return from international duty, while it was also leaked that he has picked up a groin injury rather than a hamstring injury. We could obviously just have left the Spanish international in our starting XI this week in the hope that he features against United on Sunday and then if he didn’t George Boyd would once more climb off the bench. However we felt that the chances of Costa featuring this weekend were fairly remote and we would much rather have Pelle over Boyd. While Saido Berahino and Romelu Lukaku were briefly mentioned as replacements for Costa it was a unanimous decision to bring in Pelle as Southampton are in superb form and they have some great fixtures coming up. Chelsea play QPR next week and there is every possibility that Costa will be fit to face the R’s and if this is the case don’t be too surprised should we bring Costa straight back into the squad next week. We dealt early to ensure we have the cash to do this with just one transfer.

Captain

It will hardly come as a great surprise to learn that we have decided to go with Sergio Aguero as our captain this week. Now we’re not expecting him to score four at West Ham, we actually want five, but in all seriousness we couldn’t ignore him now that he has six in in last four games and has only failed to score on two occasions this season. The likes of Tadic, Pelle & Welbeck are also great options but we couldn’t look beyond the Argentinian.
Our new signing Graziano Pelle will be our vice captain.

And in text format as promised –

Krul
Alderweireld, Taylor, Baines
Di Maria, Fabregas, Sigurdsson, Tadic
Welbeck Pelle (v), Aguero (c)

subs: Boyd, Hutton, Moore. (gk Mannone)

So heard from Mourinho, do I get shut of Costa or Falcao for Aguero?

      Raziel says:

I replaced Costa but I can buy him back if needed. Why this is even a question for you is beyond me. Guess people still afraid he’ll score a hattrick like he did last time? Anyway, if Mourinho risks him Sunday he’s a twat and should forever hold his mouth about Spain using Costa.

Mourinho states that Remy is the only player ruled out of the United trip. He is likely absent for two to three weeks.
He loves a mind game don’t he

    Hey guys,

How am I looking for the GW?

    krul
    alderweireld / taylor / wisdom
    siggy / sterling / ADM / Cesc
    Pelle (vc) / Costa / Kun ©

    Mannone – dummet – cattermole – duff
    0ft 0.0m

Any changes you’d make to the starting line up?

Sigh of relief for us United fans. ADM seems to be fully fit judging from the pictures taken at training. Will he be able to make the difference vs Mourinho’s men come Sunday. I would sure hope so. Especially since Mourinho should not park the bus. What does he have to be afraid of vs United. Not too much it seems. I think this game might be more open than we may think, another 5-3 for United?? laugh

      NIN says:

I fear the worst! Angel should be fine but Chelsea should beat us comfortably. Then it’s onto Aguero at the Etihad…

      • KungFuKingCantona says:

Hey hey you! Do not try to dampen my mood by talking sense into me! 😛
Will be some tough tough matches…wonder if LVG will play with all 5 of Rojo, Shaw, Mcair, Rafael and Jones sitting in front of them in midfield à la Fergie back in the day! 😉 Really cannot wait for this match. Not expecting much at all but we could be surprised…ish!
Went to Old Trafford for the West Ham match and the atmosphere was electric. How I wish to have been there Sunday!

        • NIN says:

I’d be happy with a point this weekend, that’s for sure. I hope he makes changes to the team and the formation. If we approach it like we’ve been approaching other games then it really doesn’t look good for us.
Falcao is the key, we have to start playing to his strengths.

        • KungFuKingCantona says:

Agreed! And I cannot believe I am saying this but perhaps Fellaini could be good for us! He seems to be hungry and willing on the pitch! We need to find a way of adapting to El Tigre! Wonder if Carrick will have a big role to play this year…

        • Raziel says:

Fellaini only looks good in the role Everton gave him. You might need his length and physical presence versus Chelsea though.

        • NIN says:

Indeed. He’s among the best 9’s out there so if we’re going to keep him and pay serious money for him then we must build the team around him. There’s 40+ goals a season in him, no doubt about it.
I reckon Chelsea would be licking their lips if they seen mop head in our line up on Sunday 😉

        • KungFuKingCantona says:

Haha mop head to prove them and us wrong hopefully! But yeah who knows…let us sit back and enjoy the show Sunday! As long as Young does not feature it should be all good!! laugh

        • Raziel says:

          @ NiN
I liked how United played when he came on. They played him infront of RvP and the rest. If they just had started that freaking way.

Anyway, Chelsea should be much further at the moment but I hope LvG will play 5-3-2 or 3-5-2. Shift and maybe alter it to 4-3-3 if needed. The Dutch had no problems with the big teams in the WC (Spain, Chille) just with the smaller countries that didn’t want to play football. Think 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 is ideal for big opponents, they haven’t played it for a while now though. We’ll see, hope LvG has a trick.

        • NIN says:

Raz – A 4-5-1 is the way i reckon we should approach these games, with Falcao as the spearhead. We have to tighten up against the likes of Chelsea and City and hope that Di Maria and Herrera etc can get the best out of Falcao.

KungFu – Don’t get me started on bloody Young! There’s also the Classico to look forward to. Have to fancy Madrid for that one.

        • KungFuKingCantona says:

In deed there is NIN!! Dayum…can this much footie in weekends be healthy?! I personally think it is! ha!
As I have made my 2FT I will not be logging on to my fpl team until the deadline has passed..I do not wanna stress out on it any longer! I will leave you to it and catch up during the weekend! So toodle pip for now and GGMU! 😉

        • Raziel says:

          @ NiN
5-3-2 is sort of with 1 striker. It’s more like 5-3-1-1
          DDG
          Rafael – Mncair – Jones – Rojo – Shaw
Di Maria – Blind – Herrerra (Fellaini)
          RvP (or Mata)
          Falcao

Usually the backs (Rafael and Shaw) come up so fair that looks like 3-5-2. All depends on how much defensive troubles United have. It’s the only way I see United being safer against the bigger teams.

    • 34.2
      Raziel says:

Pfffft. United will get 9 out of 9 next 3 games and after that they’ll beat Arsenal 6-4.

      • KungFuKingCantona says:

Haha Raz you are making me happy! Expect the unexpected with LVG!! 😉 Just imagine he could win these games…I think I may have to buy my self a new pair of liver and heart after all the excitement and beers drunk! 😉 I knew I could count on your support!

        • Raziel says:

Almost seen all the United games this season and in all honesty they have been really, really unlucky. There is a difference between losing points and deservingly so or dominating field play, creating chances just finishing them and your opponent getting 1 or 2 chances and scoring both. Started that way with Swansea and the same happened last game versus WBA, they had 2 shots on target (1 wondergoal). Really don’t see how they would’ve lost with Falcao starting, RvP can’t do the striker role alone any longer. He can be support.

        • KungFuKingCantona says:

Well the freak Leicester result aside I agree with you! And as for RVP, he deffo needs a rest or something. Nothing like his old self. Maybe play Januzaj instead of him and let RVP come on from the bench and show his class! He does not contribute defensively. I hope LVG won’t have his RVP love glasses on if his form does not improve. Other than that…I am so looking forward to seing LVG work his magic! Will be fun to see his relationship with Mourinho before/during/after the game! smile

        • Raziel says:

For me Januzaj has been really poor though. He literally did nothing in 90 minutes last game. Like he lost all the flair.

Mata was utterly poor as well. Even Hererra looked bad.

If I would play RvP I’d maybe use him as a 10, I personally still think he’s a better 10 than a striker. Anyway, don’t put him next to Falcao.

        • KungFuKingCantona says:

Yeah Mata and Januzaj have been poor lately..Fellaini to replace one of them!??! laugh The return of Rooney can’t come quick enough! RVP in 10…why not..worth a shot. LVG knows him better than RVP himself so I hope he has a few aces up his sleeve!

        • Raziel says:

In all honesty, RvP seems to have completely lost his touch. Where it was gold 2 seasons ago it’s bronze at best now. >.<

You can be older and not run the same pace but still have your touch. Really odd he lost that.

        • KungFuKingCantona says:

Very odd in deed. But the rumours he needed some knee surgery may not be that false. That could be a reason…another one could be he lied about his age and is actually 44 now!! haha

        • Raziel says:

In Holland people starting to support Huntelaar taking over RvP’s spot, he’s much more prolific and much more a real striker. RvP has never ever done anything for the Netherlands apart from maybe the first goal at the WC versus Spain. Rest of tournament was all Robben, no RvP.

        • KungFuKingCantona says:

Agreed Raz again! And to be fair that goal vs Spain was beautiful but, other than that he did jack sh!t the entire match! He should have moments of brilliance like this even if he plays crap..but they are very rare these days. He misses chances he would not have missed 2 years ago! Anywhoo…who am I to criticise…he may well surprise us come Sunday!! 😉

        • Raziel says:

People dropping Falcao for a hit at the moment which super silly for me. United will create more and more. It’s just the defense that has been lacking. United scored in all games except against Burnley.

  5. 35
    Raziel says:

Regardless if Costa plays or not he won’t be fit. Coming back from several injuries plus a bad stomach bug. This news that he has a chance is utter BS, again. If he plays Costa he can’t blame Spain for anything anymore.

  6. 36
    KP says:

    Here are my transfer plans
    1. GW9:Costa OUT Aguero IN
GW10: Welbeck Sterling OUT Costa Diame(or any other 5.5m player) IN (for a 4 point hit)

    2. GW9: Save the free transfer
GW10: Welbeck Sterling OUT Aguero Diame IN

Should i go for 1 or 2?Any other suggestions?
