Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 9
Where do we begin ?!! GW8 was just one of those game-weeks that doesn’t come around very often, where nearly everything we touched turned into points. A final score of 105pts was way beyond our wildest dreams.
It all started at lunchtime on Saturday when Sergio Aguero led the Spurs defence a merry dance as he scored four goals earning us 19pts in the process – it could have been even more had he not missed a penalty. We put the penalty miss behind us and moved onto the 3pm kick-offs. As you will remember, last week we brought in Leighton Baines & Dusan Tadic. We’re still thankful that Sadio Mane did not arrive back on the south coast from international duty until Thursday as this led us to getting Tadic over the Sengalese man and we certainly did not regret our decision as the Serbian international rewarded us with 23pts as the Saints ran riot against Sunderland. Baines didn’t let us down either as the Everton man weighed in with 15pts. Danny Welbeck and Cesc Fabregas also made notable contributions with a goal each, with Welbeck picking up a solitary bonus point and Cesc picking up two. Thanks to another Southampton clean sheet Toby Alderweireld chipped in with 6pts and you know you’re in for a good game-week when Tim Krul weighs in with 6pts thanks to a rare Newcastle clean sheet. So as Saturday drew to a close we were sat on a rather impressive 84pts with another 8 to come off the bench in the form of George Boyd who was set to replace the injured Diego Costa. At one stage chants of “we’re gonna win the league, we’re gonna win the league” reverberated around the FF247 offices, but we soon calmed down as it’s only October and only Arsenal win the league in October!
And so we moved onto Sunday and while we were still on a high from Saturday we were not expecting a ‘Super Sunday’ and so it turned out to be the case as we accumulated a total of 3 points from our Swansea pair of Taylor and Sigurdsson. The gameweek came to a conclusion on Monday night and we had high hopes – we still had our captain, Angel di Maria to play. It could be huge, maybe 120/125pts? Well, sadly (it’s all relative) it wasn’t to be, a solitary assist brought the midfielder a 10pt haul, taking us through the century mark.
So a quite magnificent week saw the team rocket up the rankings into a global position of 679 with 508pts. Finally, we would just like to point out that we are now top of our national league – Bonaire, Saint Eustatius and Saba – ‘we are top of the league, say we are top of the league’!!
Transfer for GW9
When we first discussed our transfers this week the general consensus in the office was that we should hold onto our transfer but the ongoing situation surrounding Diego Costa has made us nervous and we have decided to move the Chelsea man out. We have:
Sold Diego Costa and replaced him with Southampton’s Graziano Pelle.
It was on Thursday, around midnight, when we finally decided to sell him – the mystery surrounded his condition deepened as it emerged that he had spent some time in hospital with a stomach virus following his return from international duty, while it was also leaked that he has picked up a groin injury rather than a hamstring injury. We could obviously just have left the Spanish international in our starting XI this week in the hope that he features against United on Sunday and then if he didn’t George Boyd would once more climb off the bench. However we felt that the chances of Costa featuring this weekend were fairly remote and we would much rather have Pelle over Boyd. While Saido Berahino and Romelu Lukaku were briefly mentioned as replacements for Costa it was a unanimous decision to bring in Pelle as Southampton are in superb form and they have some great fixtures coming up. Chelsea play QPR next week and there is every possibility that Costa will be fit to face the R’s and if this is the case don’t be too surprised should we bring Costa straight back into the squad next week. We dealt early to ensure we have the cash to do this with just one transfer.
Captain
It will hardly come as a great surprise to learn that we have decided to go with Sergio Aguero as our captain this week. Now we’re not expecting him to score four at West Ham, we actually want five, but in all seriousness we couldn’t ignore him now that he has six in in last four games and has only failed to score on two occasions this season. The likes of Tadic, Pelle & Welbeck are also great options but we couldn’t look beyond the Argentinian.
Our new signing Graziano Pelle will be our vice captain.
And in text format as promised –
Krul
Alderweireld, Taylor, Baines
Di Maria, Fabregas, Sigurdsson, Tadic
Welbeck Pelle (v), Aguero (c)
subs: Boyd, Hutton, Moore. (gk Mannone)

Fantasy Football 247 is delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted as a finalist for the Best FPL Football Blog award (FBA). The finals take place on November 13th at the National Football Museum in Manchester. This is an immense achievement for us, bearing in mind we only went live in November of 2013 and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the team at FF247 for all their hard work, given freely and in their own time, for making the site what it is today.

Hi all…
Well I’ve made my transfers this week already after last weeks absolute season wrecking FPL nightmare. Costa and Falcao out for Aguero and Pelle. No hit, I had two transfers. As a United fan I proved how much current faith I have in the team to do well against Chelsea and City by taking out Falcao. Also I’m sure Costa will play and score a hat trick this weekend now because Jose is a dirty slimy fpl hating scum bag but it’ll just be the running theme after the Aguero haul last week.
United have no problem attacking and they will score every game. It’s all about how they use Falcao. If Falcao is upfront alone with RvP behind him or wide he will do well. With RvP in his way it will be much harder. Hope to see magic Sunday, nothing is impossible. Everybody talks like United already lost. We’ll see.
I hope you are right mate but I can’t see us getting a result. The defence is just THAT bad. I fully intend to get Falcao back in after the next two games though.
Hehe, glad he’s still in my team. I just like Falcao too much. If things turn black I can directly swap him back to Costa if I want. Plus, Costa keeps dropping which is positive.
I made 0.3m on Costa and by the end of tomorrow he’ll be down to 10.9m. Which means if I buy him back I’ve only lost 0.1m on him, if he doesn’t play or comes on looking like shite he will drop down even further. Which is even better.
my guess is costa will play some part
Afternoon fellas,
Need some solid advice. Several options;
1) Sort out the Isgrove situation and bring in a playing cheap I such as Quinn (Hull) or Boyd etc.
2) Swap Isgrove for a solid 5th mid such as Barkley, Tadic or Chadli
3) Get rid of Costa for the main man Kun?!?!?
All these a valid options, but I’m struggling!
Hello folks, good week last week for me, thanks for all the help.
The team currently looks like this, I have 2FT and 1.8 million in the bank.
Is it time to Swap costa for aguero? Leaving me with Ulloa as a 3rd striker?
Is Di maria out for long or whats the story?
Any ideas?
From what I’ve seen it looks like Di Maria was training normally so probably likely to play.
cheers lad
Anyone think Costa – Aguero and Downing to Milner would be a decent plan?
which back 3 to choose/play?
baines, taylor, pieters, moore, duff
Baines, Taylor and [anyone].
I’m stuck…. haven’t really paid as much attention this year as I should have and am half way down my leagues as a result…. thinking of just using my WC to address things like defence, Aguero, etc…. what do you think?
Or satisfy my itchy trigger finger by taking an 8pt hit & doing:
Courtois > Forster
Sterling > Tadic
Falcao > Aguero
Then doing the rest slowly
We’re a quarter way in so I say go for the wild card! If you’re playing catch up last thing you need as an 8 point hit
+1 hit that button!
Button hit!
Now I’ve got an agonising evening probably changing that WC team at least 17 times! 😉
Let the pain commence! 😉
McCarthy might be a better shout as your 4m back-up keeper?
So I’m going for Costa to Aguero & Sterling to Chadli
Leaves me 1.4m so can either bring Costa back in or upgrade Terry to Baines next week.
What do we reckon?
I’m holding fast on Costa Shadow, i can’t afford the 0.3 to get him back but then i have the luxury of already having Kun.
I think it could be a good move to get Kun in his on fire
Costa to Kun may be a lateral move so I’d say why not, but Sterling to Chadli? a little hesitant there. Maybe Tadic if you dont have him already or even Ramsey now 😉
