Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 5 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16

Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 5GW5 is live! It’s back baby! Let us commence the agony of having all our moves turn into a post International Break nightmare. Kicking our slow death by no FPL points is a match up of wonderful English names, Roberto vs Jose. Good thing Donald Trump isn’t running for Prime Minister. In the 3pm games we finally get to see the unveiling of Arsenal world class striker Benz.., Laca…, no one, Really?! Still Giroud?! FFS! In other action we see City and their actual big signings go hunting at Selhurst Park. Callum Wilson will look to validate the trust showed by many managers in him when Bournemouth visit Norwich. Watford welcomes 4th place Swansea and hope to keep the Panther from striking again. Saints and West Brom match-up after both earning their first win of the season. In the late game we see the geniuses at work when Rodgers and his confused XI travel to Old Trafford and face off with LVG’s utterly confused XI.

On Sunday we have two fixtures. As usual Sunderland are in the relegation zone this time of year and they play the once again disappointing Spurs, who are also their usual self this time of year. In the other Sunday fixture we see a battle between value mids, as Mahrez takes on Sinclair in a fight for the hearts of the bargain hunters.

We finish the game-week off with The Hammers opening the doors to a Newcastle side that started off as bad as FPL managers have this season, but at least the Toon haven’t been reduced to tears yet.

Don’t forget to also share any experiences if you are participating in any or several of the FanTeam.com leagues. Remember scores update in real time, so don’t be shy and let us know how much you are in line to win.

    7. Sadio Mane is a beast.. FAIL
    8. Mahrez plays for an average team, not good long term… OH GOD! You just had to get him in ultimately.
    8. Ayew and Gomis too…
    9. Play standard 3-4-3 formation.. FAIL

The main thing this tells you is that when someone says “x is a MUST”, ignore them and make up your own opinion. Nobody is a must, there is always a different combination that can match their points.

Also, international breaks don’t seem to build much value because A) wildcard transfer don’t seem to count for NTI & B) many people switch off for 2 weeks and recheck the day before deadline.

      33 more weeks to follow.
can’t fail those theories based on just few weeks.

ultimately we all know almost all of those points will prove their validity

      that’s the beauty of FPL

Right, so that’s 49 points (all-out) for me, the same tally as last week. Hopefully a green arrow tomorrow night…

How have you peeps fared? Anyone got Cresswell / Payet / Sakho as (c) for tomorrow? smile

I looked at a few of the front runners teams and noticed most are heavily invested in defense with mid prices midfielders doing well and similar attacking line…
Interesting food for thought…. wish I could WC again haha

Peter – just had a quick (well, ok, several-minute) nose into the current Top 10 teams’ past seasons history and it confirmed what I suspected – they’ve all either never played FPL before, or if they have, they’ve finished in the hundred-thousands or millions in every season.

There’s a reason why their teams are built like that: amateurs build their squads from the back and spend big. Hart, Cech, Terry, Clyne, Kompany etc. Then, once they run out of money, simply make sacrifices up top.

They don’t know (or don’t care) that over the course of a season the big points are usually provided from the expensive midfielders and strikers. It just so happens that so far, in this lovely FPL season, their style has worked because Kompany, Mahrez, Wilson and Hoolahan etc. have been the form-players.

The #6 ranked team is even called ‘Beginner’s Luck’ and has Willian in it! Case closed… 😉

Only problem is that casuals have taken a big lead, which will be difficult to make up in the course of the season. And amazingly I am getting beaten in every mini leagues against some seemingly stupid teams! Like this one had Blind in it, but no Aguero, Hazard, Pedro, Sanchez

Just can’t plan for this sort of weird start James. You’re spot on in your assessment. If and when normality returns and those mentioned there by abhirup and other such players start firing again those at the top may find it difficult to readjust, plus if they’re inexperienced they may not realise that a swift readjustment is required.

      • theswirly says:

Love that analysis, James – certainly explains how I am in my ML (23rd when I’m usually in the top five even by now). Had a complete arse try and tell me I had a “shit team” this year compared to others. He’s 50 points ahead of me and top at the moment (and has Kolarov, Darmian and Jagielka in defence for a start) and I’m going to absolutely love it when I overtake him. Already laughing because he’s got Gomez coming in for Rooney!
