Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1. And welcome back indeed, welcome to the start of yet another long season, welcome to another 38 weeks of joy, despair, trials, tribulations and challenges. We hope that you will once again enjoy joining us as we go through all the emotions together, share our thoughts and experiences, rejoice when our players score points, commiserate when they don’t, cry when they come off after 59 minutes and laugh when they concede in the last minute. Or something to that effect anyway.
GW1 sees us kick off with a Friday night game as the Champions of Europe host newly promoted Norwich at home. Doesn’t quite seem fair that does it, somehow? It’ll probably see plenty of Salah captainers get their first taste of the armband for the season anyway.
Champions Man City then get the first Saturday of the season going as they visit West Ham in the early kick off at 12.30pm.
In perhaps a sign of things to come our 3pm games are not only few but are also littered with the already seemingly cast aside ‘less interesting’ teams. Apologies to Bournemouth & Sheffield United, Burnley & Southampton, Palace & Everton and Watford & Brighton but that’s how it seems.
Champions League runners up Spurs host newly promoted Villa at home in the late KO at 5.30pm. Doesn’t quite seem fair that does it, somehow? It’ll probably see plenty of Kane captainers get their first taste of the armband for the season anyway….
Leicester and Wolves begin (share) our first Sunday with an intriguing encounter at 2pm, while Newcastle fans will be protesting against Arsenal at the same time. Well ok, not protesting Arsenal, protesting Ashley, but you know what we mean…
A clash of the old titans sees GW1 out as Chelsea visit Old Trafford at 4pm.
The games in full…

Thoughts on Watford assets – stick or twist?
They looked desperate yesterday, no better than when Citeh whupped them in the FA Cup final…..
I have Deeney for my sins and will hold him for at least another week.Too early to be knee jerking.
+1 I have Deulofeu and unless something suggests he’s out then he can stay for a few weeks at least to assess properly.
Give your players another week.
Big congrats to the 100 club this week, including site stalwart GP – great shooting.
Why thank you…..
This guy tho.
When I saw that he’d gotten 3 bonus points I thought of you GP
Fair play to you for sticking with him when nearly everyone was telling you to get rid.
Fair play for sticking with him
Not even as though its a huge surprise. Ten clean sheets and 22 bonus points last season.
Cheers lads.
Well done TGP. Great score
Awb got 2 bonus points get in
Sorry – repost as put in wrong chat
Ederson seems to be rising as everyone swaps from allison to him. Long term i wanted him as my fire & forget GK & 100%secure ciry option.
Is it worth a -4 to get him in now before the rise as 6.1 will be harder to get than 6.0
Atm which I can do it by swapping Wilson for king or jota, or zichenko for Rico
Cheers
In my opinion no,
There are better value for money keepers in the 4.5-5.0m range, which will free up 0.5-1.0m to spend on the rest of your squad.
Nah stick with Pope.
Agreed. Stick with Pope.
A -4 because of a 0.1 rise on a player you ‘desperately’ want but didn’t pick 2 days ago? :dash:
Had always planned to move for him in wk3 after the spurs game
No, Pope’s fine.
Who is your keeper now Hammers ? I’d just stick with who you have.
Supposed to be a reply to Hammers above….
It’s pope. Was planning to bring ederson in an 3 anyway but won’t be able to as easily if he goes to 6.1 unfortunately
You seem committed to doing it anyway.
Nah keep Pope.Better value and will get you save points during the difficult fixtures.
Ederson has better CS potential than a keeper from a mid-table team, and this is reflected in his price – but he’s not called to make as many saves because his team are better defensively, so you lose out on bonus points.
Hey all, spotty internet here on holiday in Delaware USA (anyone ever been? 😉 ) but chuffed with 103 this gw! Now just to hang on for dear life!
Nice man. Dunk was a good call, I went with a.smith over him which made me fall short. Still over the moon with 93.
Yeah i agonized over a 4.5 defender forever and could never settle on anyone but Dunk. Worked a treat for a week! Good shootin for you as well.
