Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1.

We hope you enjoyed your long summer break. Ahem, let’s try that again. Anyway, you get the picture.

We hope this finds you and all your loved ones relatively safe and well. And welcome back to Live Match Chat. For those of you new to it it’s basically our version of Soccer Saturday but without any annoying flat earthers, big nosed scousers or smarmy Scotsmen. Oh, hang on…

The new season kicks off on Saturday lunchtime with a newly bullish Arsenal taking a trip to see whether Fulham learned any lessons from the last time they mixed it with the big boys.

This is followed by just the one 3pm game as Palace host Southampton.

Saturday finishes with the Champions Liverpool welcoming Leeds back in to the big time at 5.30pm and then Newcastle go to West Ham at 8pm.

On Sunday we have two games beginning with newcomers West Brom stepping back up to host Leicester. Followed by two stalwarts as Everton go to their bogey team Spurs.

Monday is unusual (what isn’t these days) as we have two 8pm games. Brighton host a new look Chelsea team and Sheffield United welcome Wolves.

It is of course a reduced GW in that both Manchester clubs were given a break after their European adventures disasters and subsequently Burnley and Villa have the week off too.

The games in full…

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 1 from all at FF247!

  1. Do we think that Greenwood may get left out due to his antics?

    • I doubt it but they haven’t got as much depth as city with Foden

    • I doubt it. He is the new Sterling the media gets to pick on.

    • Think he’s been training on his own so I don’t see him starting the next game

  2. Anyone considering Sterling over KDB. Felt he started to come good end of last year, but there KDB continued being good

    • Yeah I think I will be come GW3. I think KDB will be 0.1 more than Sterling which at this early stage is effectively 0.5. If Auba is 12 million and KDB is 11.6

  3. Getting rid of Saka and impressed with Everton today. Gomes,Allan or Doucoure, who do you think is best?.Allan got man of the match and they are all 5.5.

    • All of them were fairly defensive. It’s the Everton front three that will get the points

  4. When are prices likely to rise? Does not look near it at the moment? Fix shows Fernandes going up in 2 days.
Would hate to bring him in early and then he gets hurt in training.

    • Is it possible for price to go up without even playing a game yet ??

      • FPL player price rises and falls are based on players being bought/sold by fantasy managers, not how well (or not) the real players performed.

        • So yes, players can go up or down in price regardless of whether they’ve played or not.

        • I see

  5. Without kneejerking, what should be my transfers (mid term). Ready to take -4, may be even -8. No transfer will be done tonight, only after seeing the matches tomorrow. But any suggestion to chalk out the plan is welcome.

    (1) I have 2 players to move out – Keita (as I missed the 90 mins deadline) and Alli (Spurs look terrible). The Keita slot I thought of giving to Bruno, but open to any other suggestion.
    (2) I do not have Salah, Justin (among popular picks). Do I need Salah?
    ITB: 5.5m
    GK: McCarthy, Button
Def: TAA, Dier, KWP, Lamptey, Mitchell
Mid: Auba, Havertz, Alli, Keita, Bissouma
    Fwd: Werner, Wilson, Adams

    • I’d stick to the plan and get Bruno in for Keita I think. Not sure on Alli but apart from James or Pulisic I don’t see anyone else

      • I’d be tempted by James home to West Brom he was excellent today

      • Thanks Smash and Mitro. Perhaps stick to the plan and get Bruno for sure. See tomorrow’s match and decide on James based on Chelsea attack.
After Arsenal game, might rethink Salah…but his price will be 12.4m by then unless he does poor against Chelsea.

Which defence has more potential – Everton or Leicester?

        • I doubt Salah goes up much. Can’t really tell on Leicester defence West Brom offered nothing going forward

  6. I panic-swapped Ryan/Walton/Digne for Ramsdale/McCarthy/Dunk 5mins before deadline yesterday, because I clocked Walton’s red flag and felt I needed better GK cover in my set and forget team. Of course GW1 Digne gets CS, assist and max BPs to punish me :dash:

Although, tbf, Ramsdale and Dunk haven’t played yet, so it could still work out ok :unknw:

    • Digne is Defo an assist machine and Everton look way better this season. Might have to get him soon

      • Digne did nothing really today except that one freekick in 88th min….one big reason is that Richarlison is playing that side and he is not squaring much. Left wing is not much used today, instead right wing (James + Coleman) was more active.
