Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1.

We hope you enjoyed your long summer break. Ahem, let’s try that again. Anyway, you get the picture.

We hope this finds you and all your loved ones relatively safe and well. And welcome back to Live Match Chat. For those of you new to it it’s basically our version of Soccer Saturday but without any annoying flat earthers, big nosed scousers or smarmy Scotsmen. Oh, hang on…

The new season kicks off on Saturday lunchtime with a newly bullish Arsenal taking a trip to see whether Fulham learned any lessons from the last time they mixed it with the big boys.

This is followed by just the one 3pm game as Palace host Southampton.

Saturday finishes with the Champions Liverpool welcoming Leeds back in to the big time at 5.30pm and then Newcastle go to West Ham at 8pm.

On Sunday we have two games beginning with newcomers West Brom stepping back up to host Leicester. Followed by two stalwarts as Everton go to their bogey team Spurs.

Monday is unusual (what isn’t these days) as we have two 8pm games. Brighton host a new look Chelsea team and Sheffield United welcome Wolves.

It is of course a reduced GW in that both Manchester clubs were given a break after their European adventures disasters and subsequently Burnley and Villa have the week off too.

  1. How we all feeling after that first match then?

    • Target Fulham

    • Could have been better, could have been worse if Auba hadn’t scored.

      Fulham looked about as poor as they did last time they were in the PL.

      • Having watched it, it should have been 6 or 7

      • Mitrovic was so hyped before the gameweek started and even didn’t make fulham first eleven.
        Absolutely disgusted I need to sell him asap

        • He looked ok when he came on. Did not start as did not train after playing 180 mins International break

    • I should be feeling happy my captain Auba scored but somehow feeling otherwise. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take those 14 points anyday but somehow feel like he could have scored at least one more. Overall, I just feel relieved my captain scored.

    • As Eagle, relieved that Auba scored.

      I am planning Son to Bruno but it may become Son->Chelsea & Mitro->Martial on that performance.

    • Not great tbh but arsenal look really strong. I feel did I miss Tierney for my team?

    • Yep, the defence does not look that strong…probably will sell KWP in coming weeks unless he shows some promise.

  4. Great to see it off to a start again – even after receiving a huge ‘reality check’ (my 2 cheaper strikers were subs), but it’s only GW 1 innit?

    Looking forward to the normal Tuesday coming down off my cloud (does this ever occur???) to assess further proceedings! Hope you are all well – was unable to access the site this morning, as obviously there was a lot of demand on the system – and because the submarine cables under the Channel probably couldn’t cope with my frantic morse-style tapping on the keyboard to get through to you, to say ‘Break a leg’ on the first day! smile Cheerio one and all! Enjoy it and never take it for granted!!!

    • Mitro did not start as he had no time to train…just back from Int’l duty.
