Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 18. The silly season officially begins here. We have no less than 40 games spanning the next 14 days taking in 4 GW’s in total. We can but recommend you stick close to both our Fixture Tracker and our on-site Countdown Timer to keep track of when each GW begins, but as a helpful little ditty to perhaps take a ‘snap of’, the deadlines are as follows (all times are GMT) –

GW18 Friday 21st December 7PM
GW19 Wednesday 26th December 11.30AM
GW20 Saturday 29th December 3PM
GW21 Tuesday 1st January 11.30AM

As for this GW we begin on Friday and end on Sunday with the majority of the games on Saturday for a pleasant change. Wolves and Liverpool kick us off this evening as the current league leaders look to put the pressure on their chasers by extending their overnight lead to 4 points over Man City.

Saturday begins with many an FPL manager sweating over the Arsenal line-up as they play host to an ever increasingly tight Burnley side. Six 3PM kick-offs follow with Bournemouth and Brighton both looking to regain some sort of form, Chelsea hoping to continue their own pursuit against Leicester, Huddersfield look to stop the new beer flowing against the Saints, Man City probably playing catch up against Palace, Newcastle hoping Mitro doesn’t come back to haunt them and West Ham look for 5 wins in a row for who knows how long as they host Watford.

Saturday evening could be intriguing as Cardiff look to take 3 points off fellow strugglers Man United.

Our only game on a barren Sunday is Everton vs Spurs. Harry Kane may not know it but this could be his final rehearsal for many FPL managers, especially if Kun shows up on Saturday.

Our Regulars League* for 2018/19 is now open and has a cash prize pool of £300 paid directly to the winners from the FF247 management team. The first 5 places are paid out in a tiered system.

*terms and conditions apply and are available upon request. Management reserve the right to review membership of this league on an ongoing basis. If you enter and win a prize you have to have commented on the site at least 5 times for 8 consecutive months between August 2018 and March 2019 or you will not be considered for a prize. That’s basically 1 comment a week all season, we think that’s a reasonable ask to be considered a ‘regular’.

    What’s everyone’s thought/ choice for picking United attacking potential from their fixtures ?

    • Seen a few people saying they’re getting rid. I still think he could be value over Christmas at 7.0.

    • I’ve got rid on wildcard

    • A Hold but not a Buy. I read that he hit the woodwork last match, so it seems like he’s still going to pick up attacking points. As long as players are coming close to scoring I’m happy to hold onto them. Such patience paid off nicely with Brooks (if only I’d kept patience with Son as well). The costly defender to bin is Laporte, or any of the others from Man C, as they don’t seem capable of CSs atm

    I am thinking is to take out Laporte and Bacuna for Martial? and go with a 3-5-2 and keep Alonso for couple more fixtures?
    Thoughts anyone or maybe some other advise smile

    • I think I would do that. I have about had it with City defending, I know they will come good, but my patience is done and keeping them prevents me from getting other players with the extra cash.

      • Ye exactly, alternatively I could do Laporte and Bacuna for AWB & Lingard? (so i can have a bit of cover on bench in case Son benched)?

        So much choice from United side that I am not sure which is best choice xD

        • I brought in Martial, just because I think he is the most talented attacking wise from their side, having said that, I already have Rashford so it looks like I am putting a lot of stock in United actually continuing their goals, despite not playing Cardiff every GW. smile

          United offers a lot of nice cheap options in the attack and on defence if they hit a run of form. Not completely sold on their defence though as I get the idea they are more likely to win 4-2 than 2-0, but we won’t really know what kind of team they are until we see them face all types of opponents.

        • At this point can’t decided which to go with:
          A)) Laporte & Bacuna for Martial and a 3.8 def
          B)) Laporte & Bacuna for Lingard and AWB (0.1ITB) (this would give me a bit of bench cover for any rotation)

        • Grizzly, I’d avoid ultra-cheap players as we’re getting towards the season of postponements and DGWs when a strong bench is especially useful

        • Exactly, though I presume like me others will use their wildcard on weekly if need be.

          Do you not suggest either the my choices that I mentioned?

    • Good to go, I reckon, hammerfan. No urgent need for change, so keep the FT as it could be handy to have 2FT next time round.

      • yeah was thinking that gkw.
        everyone jumping on the Man Utd bus. But with so many games in a short space of time, saving FT is a good idea, and my starting XI isnt that bad really.

        • @Hammerfan, think you are good, Son to a United player seems ideal in a couple of GWs when he sets off. As long as United still look like a side that will continue to score.

  6. Any thoughts on this line up? Sure hope there aren’t any surprises! Can’t afford to have too many players rested.

    • That’s certainly not a bad bench if there is much in the way of rotation!
