Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 18. The silly season officially begins here. We have no less than 40 games spanning the next 14 days taking in 4 GW’s in total. We can but recommend you stick close to both our Fixture Tracker and our on-site Countdown Timer to keep track of when each GW begins, but as a helpful little ditty to perhaps take a ‘snap of’, the deadlines are as follows (all times are GMT) –

As for this GW we begin on Friday and end on Sunday with the majority of the games on Saturday for a pleasant change. Wolves and Liverpool kick us off this evening as the current league leaders look to put the pressure on their chasers by extending their overnight lead to 4 points over Man City.
Saturday begins with many an FPL manager sweating over the Arsenal line-up as they play host to an ever increasingly tight Burnley side. Six 3PM kick-offs follow with Bournemouth and Brighton both looking to regain some sort of form, Chelsea hoping to continue their own pursuit against Leicester, Huddersfield look to stop the new beer flowing against the Saints, Man City probably playing catch up against Palace, Newcastle hoping Mitro doesn’t come back to haunt them and West Ham look for 5 wins in a row for who knows how long as they host Watford.
Saturday evening could be intriguing as Cardiff look to take 3 points off fellow strugglers Man United.
Our only game on a barren Sunday is Everton vs Spurs. Harry Kane may not know it but this could be his final rehearsal for many FPL managers, especially if Kun shows up on Saturday.

If you enter and win a prize you have to have commented on the site at least 5 times for 8 consecutive months between August 2018 and March 2019 or you will not be considered for a prize. That’s basically 1 comment a week all season, we think that’s a reasonable ask to be considered a ‘regular’.

I would probably play Patricio just because of the Saints resurgence and also the fact West Ham haven’t kept too many CS lately.
How would you get Salah into this team?
Also thinking about Lingard.. who would you take out to raise funds?

It’s either three big attacking players n Alonso or four but no Alonso. Even with that it’s a few moves. Otherwise it’s pick out which of your big 3 you wud move on.
+1 yeah you are going to have to let go of one striker to fit Salah in I’m afraid.
Unless I did Hazard to Salah, Wilson to Ings then Alonso for a 5.7m defender? Any thoughts on that?

Given Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures I don’t think I’d bother at the moment.
You’d need to get rid of Hazard/Kane/Auba.
If you really want Pool cover you could go for Mane for Anderson.

Hi Melon, I had similar team as yours. Last night I did Auba, Anderson and Alonso for Salah, Rashford and Shaw. I had 2 FT. Will see it was not worth it. Could be better if you stick with yours. As soon as I buy Salah stop scoring

Hey Matt. There aren’t many teams that look likely to guarantee cleanies over Christmas. Spurs and Everton have good fixtures. I’d maybe go spurs since they put 6 past the latter.
Cheers Larcos. I’m looking more long term anyway. I was leaning towards Alderweireld or Digne to be honest. Which would you say is better? I’d like a Spurs fullback but they are too risky rotation wise.
Just looked at the prices… actually I don’t know that alderweireld is worth the extra 1.0m so I would go with Digne (or Shaw!) and use the extra cash elsewhere!

I was considering United defence but I think I want to see more before I take the plunge and bring one in. Was looking at Lindelof or Shaw.

Hey Cookie, how did United look? I didn’t watch the match and even if I did it’s not like United kept a CS. I’m just not sure.
As I said to Kop, if Solskjaer keeps pocking Jones, I wouldn’t bother with any of their defence!
Yeah that’s why I’m thinking of not going with any United defence. I’ll have another think but it’s looking like Digne or one of the Spurs boys.

I brought him in. Two cleanies with 2 bps in the last 3 playing for an inform team ahead of 3 home games in the next four and all that for 5.6. What’s not to like?
Spurs – too expensive. And didn’t you see them at Everton?
City – too expensive, no CSs for ages, didn’t you see them vs Palace?
Everton – didn’t you see them vs Spurs?

G’day everyone – again. Thanks to Kralinho, GP and co for your advice this morning. Have since had musings about replacing Alonso with VVD, as I was listening to Guardian football weekly podcast, (in the car, while driving thru thick fog in the French countryside to pick up a fresh turkey from a local producer – life’s a strange beast sometimes, isn’t it?) where they described him as one of the greatest defenders on the planet – AND would also currently be an enabling move, as he is 0.5m cheaper. Whaddayareckon? Twould mean that I had 2 Pool defenders (with Robbo
). Apart from that ramble, am gonna make myself a cup of pre-lunch Xmas eve tea (surprisingly for an Aussie!) 
Given the fixtures you are perhaps better just stuffing the turkey and open a bottle of wine AJW.
Good call DMC! Just the excuse I needed! Using Delia as my turkey goddess & you guys as my FPL (and when it’s the right time to open up a bottle and tip the tea in the sink)/lifestyle advisors! Guys, this is my beloved B team for which I still care and as always does better than the main one. 2 FT and only 0.4 ITB. Already have a headache for who to play and who to bench. Any ideas what to do with one of the free transfers?

That’s another good option Robbo. It’s ages since City had a CS.
You have a ton of options there, hard to know which one is the best over the coming weeks and with any possible rotation this coming GW.
Laporte to a cheaper defender and Chicha to Rashford would get you there.
I probably be willing to go -4 and sell, Laporte, Chicha and Laca for Rash, Auba and a defender that makes it work, but that is just me. I don’t usually have the patience to wait on all free transfers.

I haven’t taken a hit since GW9 and this is the traditional time of year for falling off the wagon so why the heck not?
Getting rid of Fraser and Laca leaves £15.8m for replacements. I want a Man Utd midfielder so who is my best bet – Pogba or Martial?
Happy enough to go with Rashford up front for a couple of games until Bournemouth’s fixtures turn and Wilson becomes an option again, but if there are any better suggestions I’m all ears.
Hi Robbo. I’m going with Martial over Pogba. I’d need to see Pogba play a few more games to warrant getting him in. I reckon Rashford is your most exciting option for the next few weeks at 7.0ish. Always a chance that Lukaku could displace him though.
Yes Robbo, Larcos is right. Martial looks more switched on. Pogba is too childish and I would’t be surprised if he earns himself a red card soon or fall out with Ole like he was with Jose.
