Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 19

Some games may occur, don’t ask us which…

We’ve written and re-written this about four times now this week. Which, quite frankly, is about three times more than we wanted to. We think that the following is about to happen. But in all honesty if it doesn’t, or if it changes again, please feel free to make up your own narrative and pretend that’s what we bothered to write instead because there will be no 5th!

We won’t list the lot (a picture is worth a 1000 words etc) but in short we begin with Wolves vs West Brom at Saturday lunchtime, and then we have 4 more games later on that day, 3 on Sunday, 1 on Monday, 2 on Tuesday, 2 on Wednesday, 1 on Thursday and we eventually conclude a truly long double game-week, over 7 days after it began, on the following Saturday evening at 8pm with Aston Villa v Newcastle. If Villa can be bothered to turn up. 15 or so games in total which means that 11 teams get to play twice. In theory.

Here is the GW in all its glory;

  1. I give up this season. Not for me. Won’t quit, but can’t seem to work anything out.

    • Keep pushing! Glad you won’t quit, guess this is why they say enjoying the process is the main thing. smile

    • But Constantine, you’re on 56 pts with 11 men still to come. Imagine if your cricket team was in the same position? Keep smiling mister, tthere’s still a long way to go till the end of the round! smile

    • I am on 80 points (-8) with many still to go. Buy just last week I had a horrible score of 26 (-8)…I guess it is about enjoying and not taking it too seriously at the end of the day.. And if you have 56 with 11 to go, That is at least a 78+ score for sure right. So it won’t be a bad week at all.

    • The average is meaningless at this stage of the GW but I bet you’re sat above it. One’s OR is completely meaningless at this stage in the GW. And the GW isn’t half way through yet. We’re about to embark on the second half of the season.

If you don’t do anything rash – cry for help transfers, meaningless hits, reckless use of chips – you’ll be fine.

I wouldn’t feel too sorry for myself just yet.

    • It can change very quickly in this game.

    • You’ll be fine mate

    • Chin up Constantine.

I had a moment on Saturday night where I felt the fpl gods were working against me.

Stones, Ederson and Kane helped me towards a better game week score.

The encouragement of this forum will recharge the batteries.

    • Cheers guys. You all are wonderful, as always.
Also, I have always been reacting very soon on my bad weeks. That’s how my personality is I think.
Have never been out of top 200k at this stage. 1.4m has never crossed my thoughts even. I usually mess things up at the later stages. God knows where would I land up given my current rank. Just wish James and Werner to get on the scoreboard against Leicester.
Anyways. You all are a wonderful bunch. Cheers all.

      • Don’t lose hope Constantine. Coming from a person who’s regularly above 200k at this point in previous seasons, sometimes even at 1.4 mil.
All I can say from personal experience is, if you keep at it , you’d only go up from here.

  2. Finally sitting inside the top 10k for now. Hope to keep pushing ahead.

    • Brilliant LRC, keep it up.

      Jamie

    • As I recall we were tied around gw11 or so, sometime around my Zaha punt, and the rest is Covidory… Erm, I mean history :hippo:

      • Also, nice going of course! With that lineup you’re probably well set for more points to come

  3. Really pleased with my points return so far in GW19… I played my Bb and have racked up 88 points with 11 players still to play again.

I actually took a 12-point hit to replace Dallas, Dier, Harrison and DCL with Stones, Dias, Foden and Antonio. The players I sold scored a combined 6 points, while my incoming players have scored 42 and all have another chance to play – so I’m pleased I took the gamble.

One thing I’ve realised this year is that I can’t plan ahead as much as I normally would (that’s how I ended up with Dallas and Harrison – from over-planning). Better to play the gameweek in front of you, with only a small game plan on what’s coming up.

That said, my question is around planning for future gameweeks – knowing there are lots of teams with potential doubles and inevitable blanks. What are the gameweeks I need to keep an eye on for likely double and blank gameweeks?

    • Great gamble and awesome score! Enjoy it!

DGW26, BGW29. These are the ones I am aware of atm.

      • Are there any indicators of who is likely to have doubles in GW26?

        • Find out at the weekend but prob Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs maybe, City. Also means they will blank

        • Thanks! Would the blank come in GW29 then?

        • Yeah I believe so. Will be a big blank

        • Are there any games that we look like they probably will go ahead in GW29?

        • We won’t find the GW29 blanks until 10th Feb

        • From looking through the FA Cup 4th round draw, looks like there are only 5 PL teams not in the competition (Palace, Leeds, Newcastle, Villa and West Brom).

Looking at the GW29 fixtures, unless there are some big surprises in the FA Cup, my prediction is that the only 2 games that are likely to go ahead are:

          Palace v Man United
          Fulham v Leeds

There’s a chance that these games could also go ahead:

          Brighton v Newcastle
          Sheffield United v Aston Villa
          West Brom v Everton

But other than those, I don’t see many of the other fixtures taking place.

Is it likely that some of those non-playing fixtures might get moved into midweek before or after GW29?

        • Yeah I prob need 4 fixtures ideally so I can free hit

        • If all 5 of those matches were to go ahead, I’d currently have Bamford and Fernandes in my starting line-up.

And I’ve already played my Free Hit in GW18…

        • It would be possible to bring cancelled matches forward to GW28 midweek if neither team has a Europe game. But they can’t go to midweek 29. That’s the international break.

    • Legend mate! Good on you! smile

    • Awesome work.

    • Do we know where any other doubles could be? There will be at least 2 more doubles for Man City, Spurs and Villa.

      • Depends a lot on how far teams go in the FA cup and Europe. At the moment, the only free dates Man City definitely have are midweek 24 & 27.

    • Great score Ian.

      Jamie

  4. Villa. Some players are going to be missing
