Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 21
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 21. If you made it this far without missing a deadline give yourself a pat on the back. And if you think you’re tired just imagine how the players are feeling! This is the last GW in the marathon Christmas period though, so you them and us all can breathe a sigh of relief and take a break for a week or so to recover.
New Year’s Day itself has a disappointingly low number of fixtures with just three games this year, for some bizarre reason. Everton and Leicester kick us off at lunchtime before Arsenal and Fulham play the solitary ‘traditional’ 3pm game on their lonesome. Cardiff and Spurs bring up the rear at 5.30pm.
We then skip to Wednesday evening for the bulk of this week’s action with 6 games in total. The remaining one is on Thursday night and should in theory be the game of the week, if not the whole Christmas period, or indeed the season. If only they all had any legs left… Oh, it’s Man City vs Liverpool by the way. Cracking time to play what may be a season decider that isn’t it?!
The games in full…
Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.
Good luck to absolutely everyone for Gameweek 21 from all at FF247!

Welcome to our Fantasy Football leagues section.
The League Codes for FF247 for the 2018/19 season are as follows –
Hi Gang I have 2 fts and 0 in the bank. Need to get back to winning scores. Need to sort the keeper situation out. What do you guys suggest?
A personal thought is that it’s much of a muchness in the 4.5m goalkeeper bracket, certainly over the next few fixtures. I’ve half-thought of ditching Patricio, but it barely seems worth it. Fab’s not been his usual Fabbish self (which may mean he’s still cheap next season). In your shoes I’d just check if this Gunn guy is the main keeper now – is he? have no idea – and just get him in for Hennessey. Southampton’s fixtures are all right.
Cheers for the feedback Kralin.
I’m eyeing up either Etheridge or Patricio
Dissappointed about the result but In a strange kind of way it’s good that we lost tonight.
The pressure of being unbeaten has now gone. Everyone is now talking about city, how great they are again and how they are now favourites for the league.
I think city will win it, but the pressure is all back on them now despite us still being 4 ahead so able to lose one more & still be infront of them.
We can now carry on doing what we’ve been doing whilst everyone crowns city the champions elect.
I think most Liverpool fans, myself included, would have been pretty content with a 4 point lead at the start of 2019. Would have been nicer to be 10 points clear but tonight’s result should keep us honest.
And fantasy-wise, Robertson brought a few points of cheer.
I hope the entire first XI is rested now for the cup game.
City played their best game over the best 7/8 match and the crowd have never shown up like that for them ever!
we were unlucky not to get the draw. Annoying but the better team won
Nevertheless, you showed a a good performance Gavy. Next is BHA which should be a walk in the park “on paper”. I am still working out on how to bring Salah back.
Now that the city game is done, should getting Salah in be the top priority for non-owners?
Depends on the rest of your team and a load of other data we can’t see – your mini-league, for exampe – and stuff like whether you’re chasing a good OR or couldn’t give a fig about that.
Personally if I didn’t have him I’d be after him but maybe you’ve Auba, Kane, Hazard.
Kralin, we can see Veer’s team and get to the other data by clicking on his name. It’s yours that people can’t see!
Life’s too short for me to start examining managers’ mini-leagues and so on. The permutations. Whether he or she is hot for OR. I do my best with whatever info people supply.
Re linked teams, etc, there was some asinine behaviour over on FFF (one manager in particular starting taking an uncomfortably close personal interest in another’s real identity (and the identities of the manager’s work colleagues!) – stuff like that has always made me wary of linking my team. Privacy, and all that. Plus I tend to give advice, rather than seek it etc.
But I swear every word I say about my team is true.
I didn’t know how you could see the linked teams. Maybe I’ll do that next year. Too embarrassed at the moment over the number of drunken hits I’ve taken this season
And Otieno – the linked team thing is a bit like the not-having-a-grav issue that taxes some managers to tears of frustration and rage.
Outside the juggernaut of fantasy football rumbles on into the night, oblivious of such petty concerns.
Hey Kralin – I can well understand your qualms & it’s an issue I’ve often thought about – but in my usual big-mouthed way, I’ve revealed snippets of my personal life & think that maybe I shouldn’t have, but then again , probably because I’m not as high-profile a member as you, nobody seems to give a dingo’s *#@% about it – story of my life really!
I think that if you wish to protect certain things about yourself, then you should! And we should respect that wish – and I really believe the details you do give out (een tho’ you jokingly tell us sometimes not to listen to your advice!). Keep on keeping on old chum – Kralin wouldn’t be Kralin if he wasn’t so…Kralin-ish! (Sounds a bit like Forrest Gump or Frank Spencer logic doesn’t it,).
Cheerio!
Fanx AJW, appreciated.
Key thing is never take my advice seriously.
Another thing is that I’m probably paranoid. It’s not so much the ‘work mates can see what I’m doing’ angle, as I seldom talk about my team, it’s more the ‘nobody in the world gives a flying fuck, actually, if truth be told’ aspect, perhaps. Maybe the (completely justified and highly likely) lack of interest and general indifference just offends my ego.
Veer, no. You’ll need to replace Son and maybe Chicharito, and should then look to upgrade Billing. To do that optimally you may also need to get a cheaper replacement for Laporte.
Would you believe it. I’ve been waiting patiently for Rich to drop so I can afford to swap him back in for Lingard and then Ling goes and loses money on the same night!
I’ve only ever followed the price rises in a vague, dispassionate way as I tend to make my transfers towards the end of the week.
But there are always plenty more fish in the sea in fantasy football. It’s easy to get fixated (speaking personally) on certain players, forgetting there are many others.
3 transfers, 8 PH, Loss of TV, loss of 25 points, rank dropped from 30 to 60k. Same story like last year…4 red arrows Gw18-21. What are the changes this period to drive the same bad result? Anyone experienced similar seasonal dip?
Only my second season so I haven’t seen the dizzy heights of 30k (yet) but I think you can put the TV loss at this time of year to a rush of wildcard use. Fixture congestion and rotation will be a factor in the points.
@Otieno Not really the fact on TV loss as wildcard does not impact TV (transfers under WC are not counted for price change) – but there is a catch. If you sell a player on Sunday and people follow the same – may be by Wednesday the player will reduce 0.1m and then on Friday, people activate the WC and there is no rollback of price. This is a price manipulation technique if you try to force a price drop or rise. Ofcourse many managers have to use this technique on same player to make it happen. I believe rise of POGBA’s price was exactly the result of this manipulation.
The big reason what I found that I did not have SON and POGBA – The (c) choice has been okay from 18-21. I got POGBA bit late after some 30 odd points and I never got SON (thats a huge swing). I took 8PH in 4 weeks – now its almost 1 point = -1000 drop in rank and thus -8k was already down. Further SON (13) and Kane(c with 24 against 6 of Haz) killed the rest.
The 8PH probably didn’t help. Maybe you got unlucky and captained Haz this week.
I had Kane(c) and then did
Sane+Lingard+Alonso out > Haz(c)+Pogba+Shaw in with 0 ITB…..these were my moves. Total loss 25 points. Did not want to sell Alonso – but I knew Lingard will not start and wanted to get Pogba. Haz(c) was also a popular choice – so took the call and it did not work.
But I am surprised to see my consistency – exactly the same point (Gw18 onwards) last season I had a series of red arrows and then started catching up (which was difficult)..came to 24k till gw35 and then gambled to try 10k…but ended on the other side with 42k. This season, the script has become exactly the similar. Now from 60k, I have to cover 54 points (not easy at all).
Hi all,
Is Son to Salah and Alonso to Shaw my best moves? 2FT and 3.5 ITB.
Patricio Lossl
Alonso TAA Bennett Wan B Keane
Hazard Son Pogba Anderson Masuaka
Auba Jimenez Rashford
Not sure about Shaw, though he returned a CS this week, rewarding patient owners just about. I’ve got him but will likely bench him v Spurs; fixtures after are OK.
Can you stretch to Doherty? Holebas, Digne also spring to mind. Bamba has his advocates.
5.4 is what I have left for a defender. I cant get Docherty as I have 3 Wolves players, Holebas might be a good shout.
Mr Go, our (Watford) defence is still too leaky. Either Pereira or Chilwell at Leicester would be better.
Cheers gkw!!
Is Pereira a good option? Some tricky fixtures coming up, but two decebt ones first.
