Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 23

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 23. We’ve gone from feast to famine in terms of a hectic Christmas and NY period to the lull of FA Cup weekend. However we return to normality this week – a 3-day gameweek! We kick off with six 3pm matches – Danny Drinkwater gets a chance to show his old employers how far he has come as he watches Chelsea host Leicester. From the bench presumably. Palace welcome Burnley, West Ham go to Huddersfield, basement dwellers Swansea travel to Newcastle, Watford and Saints meet at Vicarage Road and Lord Pardew looks to continue West Brom’s brilliant run as they host Brighton. The evening match sees bus driver Big Sam drive down to Spurs.

Sunday sees two matches – first up is Wilshere’s journey back to his best days as Arsenal go to Bournemouth before the highlight of the gameweek as Raheem is another to make a return as Man City take the short trip across to Liverpool.

Our gameweek concludes with a Monday night special as under fire Mark Hughes continues the themes of returns as he takes his relegation threatened Stoke lot to Man United.

Here is my team. 1FT and 2.4M in bank. Please advise?
Alli to Salah or Firmino to Kun? My opponent does not have Salah and Kane but he has Kun and Firmino.
    Thanks

Decent week for me, 82 with DDG still to come, and up around 20k. Am I crazy to be thinking about this 8pt hit…? Players out would be Kane, DCL, Alli and Tom Carroll, replaced by Aguero, McBurney (I know, i’d play 3-5-2), Sterling and Salah.

Would really like Aguero/Sterling/Salah (or possible Mahrez for Sterling to give me a better option as 3rd striker) and Kane out seems the only way to do it. Kane and Aguero together means losing Firmino, who I think is in v strong form right now. Thoughts chaps?

    Afternoon all

Still tinkering. Taking a chance without Kane as I have 1149 points, only Bench boost left and bottom of my league. This is a differential team.
    Advise welcome

    Cheers all

      It’s a bit different.

If you’re not having Kane though then I guess it’s as good as can be.

      Hey Mad!
I’ll chip in with some different advice!

I think if your intention is to do something different from the norm then perhaps this is not the best way to go about it. Sticking with 343 and not getting in key players like Alonso and Kane will punish you, you’ll probably end up treading water.

Why not be more aggressive, switch to a radical formation i.e. 451. Get Kane, get Alosno and get 5 awesome mids. Throw in some differentials along with the key performers i.e. Salah, Mane, Kdb, Arnie, Son.

The key will be your captain picks. Obviously if there is a standout contender each week then you can go with them, but mix it up, when the masses go with Kane for his inevitable 2 pointers, you could jump up the rankings if you’ve went with someone like KDB.

Something to consider given your position and desire to try and jump up the rankings! Might as well have some fun with it, and if it doesn’t work at least you give it a good crack!

      MadHatter,

I’ve gone from 4th/5th in my ML and a 74 point deficit to 1st and an 18 point lead (bar Lingard going mad tonight) in 4 weeks, so ground can be gained easily.

My ‘differential’ method this year has been to play largely without budget players by playing 5 at the back (mainly) and for the last 4 weeks it has worked out very well. Doesn’t say anything for the future but this could be an option?

I think Kane-less for the next 4 weeks should be okay but i’d want him after that. Arnie -> Lanzini is a possibility. Think you can drop Courtouis or Jones to get Maguire with Leicester’s fixtures. It’s a good looking team though.

Hello guys, hope y’all had a good week. As for me, bang average no thanks to Arnie. I think I’ve also checked mate myself a little with some early move. Feels harder now to transfer out Firmino with his current form. 0FT and 5 mil itb. Should I do

    A. Firmino/Kane to Kun (-4)

    B. Firmino & Christ to Kun & Alonso (-8)

    C. Richarlison & Kenny to Alonso & Sane (-8)

    RedVT says:

Hey guys, how’s it going? Anyone else waffling between Aguero and Firmino? I have 2FT and an ugly looking Morata in my side. Was planning to shift him for Aguero this week but Firmino’s performance and price has me re-thinking that. Does Vertonghen and Morata out for Alonso and Firmino sound better than say Son and Morata out for Albrighton and Kun?

I’m also trying to keep in mind the blank in gw28 which will most likely see both Manchester clubs and Chelsea without games. Aguero captain the next couple weeks is tempting though!

    • 161.1

      Red, hey mate.

      Vert+Alvaro -> Kun + a new defender.
Will that work at all ?
How much cash you will end up with to spend on a defender ?

      • RedVT says:

Hey Doc, good to see you and thanks for the reply. That would leave me 5.1 for a defender to replace Vert. The problem is I feel like my defense is already limping along and those Alonso points have been hurting me in my ML.

The Albrighton move I described would leave enough to upgrade Vert to Alonso next week though, or else I’d go for Mahrez/Lanzini or someone like that to replace Son.

        • Red…
Been analyzing ur team for some mins now…

In general, it all comes down to maintaining balance, shortterm & both longterm.

DCL, Moratta, Lingard and probably Vert (bcs of their schedule) are the ones who need to be monitored.
Everyone else is a season keeper (pretty much).
So, by saying this I think I see 2 options :
          1) play 3-5-2 and swap Kane(for the next 3 games) & Moratta for Kun + Firmino.
This way you ll play 3-5-2 and get 2 premium in-form strikers with a good schedule ahead.
Plus later on you can get Kane in as well.
And if Im not mistaking you ll even have enough funds to do Vert -> Alonso next gw.

          2) play 4-4-2
Moratta & Lingard to Kun & a budget 5th mid.
Not sure if this leaves you with enough £ for Vert to Alonso (or at least Azpi) next week.
Son to someone will give you more £ but I value Son much more than Lingard (especially longterm)…

I prefer option 1 myself,as it gives more balance to ur team…Though you lose Kane that way…for a few gws…

Not sure if this helps )))))) !!
          Just thinking out loud…

          Cheers 😉 !!

      Brookyboy says:

Red lay it out this way….do you think Aguero and Albrighton outscore Firmino and Alonso ? Im not sure they do.The thing with City is it isnt just one or two players that are grabbing the points its four or five,as highlighted yesterday, so Aguero isnt really getting the ecplosive hauls he used to.I’m not saying he wont score goals but id rather have a balanced team. And Alonso ! 😉

      • Horse says:

Hey Brooky. Terriers have a new lad Pritchard? Where does that leave Quaner?

        • Brookyboy says:

Hey Horse not sure mate.Ince will go out wide but not sure which wing yet.We will know more this weekend as im sure Pritchard will start.

      • RedVT says:

Hey Brooky, what’s up man? Thanks for the reply. I agree with you about the balance and I’m not sure I can do that with Kane AND Kun up top. Really feel like Kun could smash it but it’s hard to drop Son with his form and not having Alonso sucks. Also feels like Aguero would be pretty short term as well, where Firmino is nailed and producing.

        • FC Sanchez says:

Hey Red, how goes it? I’d keep Son as he is bang on form (Spurs and Son can score against anyone), and shift out Vert and Morata for Alonso and Firmino as others have said. Why fix what aint broke (your decent line-up of mids)! Hope you are well mate!

        • RedVT says:

Hey Sanchez, good to see you man! Hope all is well with you. Thanks for your thoughts, it does feel wrong to move Son out as he’s been great for me and is a nice differential in midfield even with a few tough fixtures on the horizon.

It’s a big decision though as I can move to Aguero pretty easily and he could go nuts in the next 2 home matches!

        • FC Sanchez says:

I did contemplate Aguero also but decided to stick w/ Firmino and Kane for the coming weeks. But you’re right, he could get a brace in any given game. Also contemplated doubling up on KdB (for Hazard) and Sterling. I bet KdB will get more points than Aguero in the next few GWs! Anyway, best of luck whatever you end up doing mate!

      Horse says:

I am keeping Firmino and hoping Sterling and Otamendi will provide enough City points. Sakho (c) and double up Chelsea defence . Fingers crossed but you can’t have them all.

    • 161.4
      Mr Bean says:

Just on the Alonso point, as good as he has been, Chelsea are really struggling now by the looks of it and with 4 competitions to compete in still it could be tough for him to keep his current returns going.

    Eagle says:

Hello guys. I know the GW hasn’t ended yet and i’m sitting on 64 with Jones and Lingard to go. Got Kane captain right, have Arnie, Salah and Firminho who all scored well and barely moved up 1k. It’s been a bit frustrating stuck within 18 – 35k rank these past 7 gameweeks so I’m keen on doing something different to push me up further. 1FT £2.9 ITB. Here are some moves I’m considering for GW24. Which one is better?

    1) Christensen to Alonso (missed his recent goals but would be glad to have him in my team and Christensen’s playing time is a concern)

    2) Richarlison to Mahrez (play 3-5-2. The only thing i’m not certain is that Mahrez might go to another team during this transfer window)

    3) Firminho to Kun (Is Kun essential? Jesus might be back in the coming weeks. Firminho getting points so is it best to keep him?)

    4) Something different.

Might probably captain Salah to go against the Kane cappers.

    • 162.1
      Mr Bean says:

Richarlison -> Mahrez is a no brainer if Mahrez stays where he is but its a big if.

Personally don’t like the Firminio move with his form and fixtures, despite Kun’s fixtures.

Christensen to Alonso seems like avery good move for the next 3 weeks at least but always a chance they return exactly the same points.

      • RedVT says:

Hi Eagle, how’s it going? +1 on Rich out for Mahrez. Even a WH double up with Lanzini would be an improvement with his form and their nice fixtures. Leaves plenty of money for uprades elsewhere, too.

        • Eagle says:

Hi Red going good so far. A bit frustrated that i’ve been having little movement up the ranks being stagnant. Probably means I have the same players as others do so I have to spice it up a bit and Mahrez fits the bill.

      • Eagle says:

Hi Mr. Bean. I would like Mahrez but as stated above, I don’t know if he will be going to another team. He has been linked to Arsenal and Chelsea lately so he could be a potential GW28 “blanker”
