Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 27

Well, after that super sized gameweek 26 that just passed we get an almost regular sized one in GW27. It is still a double, just not anywhere near the size of the one we just got through with.

This one kicks off with a lunch time meeting between Burnley and Arsenal. That is followed by three more fixtures featuring a little of everything from everywhere in the PL standings. Sheffield host the DGW darlings Saints, Villa welcome in Wolves and Leicester travel to Brighton in the late game.

Sunday brings us four more games including a match up only the immediate family of the players will watch when West Brom host Toon. Also on Sunday Liverpool play Fulham, that is followed by the Manchester Derby and the last game of the day sees the Jekyll and Hyde Spurs play Palace.

Monday gives us two more fixtures in an intriguing game when Chelsea play host to Everton and that is followed by West Ham who continue their fight to get bubbles in the Champions League next season.

The double is brought to a close by the two teams who are actually playing one. Saints take a trip to Manchester to play a City side that I am sure will leave plenty an FPL manager in a rage when they rotate the heck out of their Xl.

The games in full…

Yesssssssss. Shaw off bench for Rudiger

The way Leeds are playing, I can’t see them doing much at Fulham in GW 29.
As everyone has three of them because of that BGW, the only hope is GW 30 at home vs Sheffield. Expect mass unloading after that as the fixtures are turning atrocious.

They should have had two or three goals tonight having watched it. Bamford has missed two sitters

Raphinha and Bamford, especially Bamford, could have easily had 10 points each. Leeds (and Brighton probably) assets are so annoying to own. Watching them week in and week out having all those chances and somehow missing one sitter after another. Mind boggling…

      • leeboy104 says:

We need to remember Bam and Raph are budget options and should not be expected to score every week. For their price they’re doing great.

        • Tornado says:

I get that. But having watched the majority of their games, it’s ridiculous how many chances they miss, again, especially Bamford. However, Raphinha is an amazing player, just need better finishers on the end of those great passes.

        • leeboy104 says:

Yeah, Bamford is a good team player, but isn’t the most clinical. If Kane played for Leeds he would already be on a ridiculous number.

    Is Bale a must have?

      leeboy104 says:

Wouldn’t put him in must-have category yet. Especially if you already have Kane and Son, I wouldn’t triple up on a single team’s attack. Also, he’s quite injury prone.

      • Starfox says:

I have Son, can’t afford Kane with carving up my team. Salah to Bale right now looks appealing

        • Kralin says:

That’s the move I’m thinking. It’s a slightly arse-covering move as I imagine we won’t be the only managers doing the same thing. I will be looking around for other Salah replacements however before pushing the button. Eg a cheapo – like Lingard – then enables Kane for me for 29, etc.

        • leeboy104 says:

With KDB and Salah not firing there’s definitely a slot for a premium mid. Be interesting to see what the lineup is for their Europa League tie. Doubt Bale plays there.

      • Kralin says:

Good points. And some – myself included – may well be facing GW30 with three Leeds and three Spurs’ players – not that their respective GW30 games are that bad; and of couse Spurs have a BGW and DGW up ahead as well.

I imagine those using the FH in 29 with go in with that trio.

      Kralin says:

I’m not 100% sure of how nailed down he is. I’ll be seeing what everyone else does er ‘researching’ that later on this week. If he is he’ll be in faster than shit off a shovel.

      • AJW says:

Just can’t wait to ask the same question of City’s current No 9 – perhaps best to keep it till Easter! smile (i.e. ‘How nailed on is.. . . Gabriel’! smile. Sorry, poor taste! I really am ashamed at making such an obvious remark. sad

        • Kralin says:

We need a new angle on the Jesus gags, AJW. That nailed stuff is a bit long in the tooth – especially now that the Garden of Eden Hazard has fallen into ruin.

We need to drive those nails in a bit deeper.

        • AJW says:

Yes I suppose so K. Shame there is no ‘Lot’ playing, or a ‘Methusalem’ – even a banal ‘Jean-Baptiste’, or Judas may create possibilities. As I said, I am rather ashamed at the wholly unsubtle nature of it. Once you press ‘send’, it’s all over! Will try to pick up my act a little. Cheerio smile

        • AJW says:

Perhaps have to go back to punning on players’ names (Eg. I need.my West Ham assets to Lingard a little longer? ? ? ) . Any port in a storm I suppose. Hoping for a personal return to some sort of form! Cheerio!

        • Kralin says:

I remember when all the Jesus stuff started I tried to get to the closest player to ‘Satan’ but it was thin gruel, alas; but we had fun with Kane and Eden and Jesus and I still chortle now and then at the memory of those jolly nights.

I started linking to some rousing gospel music, if memory serves.

      Smash says:

He’s not a must have by any stretch of an imagination. He is playing well and looking more like the Bale we were expecting. He’s looking really good however so are Kane and Son. I’d be wary as he’s playing 60/70 mins every week Mourinho has stated his mins will be managed and we might even see him on the bench as Spurs will also go for the Europa. It must also be noted they won’t play Burnley and Palace every weak. With Kane and Son being more assured of playing 90 mins I would prefer them personally. I have doubts over having all three as it is Spurs they are 6th in the league so expectations need to be managed.

      • Kralin says:

Yes, those are very good points.

I’m thinking surely he’ll start versus Arsenal and having that trio going into 29 will help with the old nerves that GW, if nothing else.

But as mentioned I’m going to soon have three Spurs and three Leeds players – all mainly mids and attackers, too – and no WC to tidy them all up so need to tread / think carefully. The Leeds lot are fine as bench fodder and I suppose Bale can be moved on easily enough after Newcastle, maybe.

I hadn’t really been planning for Bale.

        • Smash says:

Depends if he starts in the Europa. If Jose sets up to go more defensive against Arsenal which is fully possible we might see Bale from the bench. He plays players in form generally though it must be said

        • Kralin says:

It’s a tough one made tougher by the fact Salah is leaving my side and I don’t want to muff the transfer up. If Liverpool were in any form I wouldn’t be thinking about Bale at all. Lingard I don’t think will be playing Man United so he’s out as a possible Salah replacement and it doesn’t seem logical to get anyone other than a 29 player. There’s Auba I suppose but he’s not that high on my list.

Annoyingly early deadline this week too.

      Tornado says:

He is not a must have but could be a handy differential in the next couple of weeks, I reckon.

      • Kralin says:

That’s probably the best way of approaching it. A one-night stand sort of relationship. No regrets and hopefully no surprises later.

Do people still say ‘one-night stand’? Seems a bit dated now. Maybe these days people say fuck-buddy instead.

        • Tornado says:

Not that I am an expert but I think those two ‘terms’ have different meanings. The latter one is when you have the former one repeatedly (no touchy feely stuff) :mosking:
A bit of a weird thing to say but yes, I am looking at Bale for a ‘two/three-GWs stand’ :big-lol:

        • Kralin says:

          OK thanks.

Yes I baulked slightly at writing that I wanted Bale to be my er well you know the rest.
